I do remember the first DD ad, anfang, but it wasn't as inspiring as yours pictures which reflect your personal style, thank you so much! Bleu ciel suits you perfectly and that t-shirt... Is it CdG?

Thank you sweetheart, you're a doll! That sweat shirt is a special collaboration between French brand Petit Bateau and Satu Maaranen, the young Finnish designer who was the winner of 2013 Hyeres international Fashion and Photography festival. Navy and white straps on the back and back of sleeves, and these blue waves on the front. Love these young designers' work!

But, do not confuse this week’s focus on your OLDEST SCARF with the OLDEST SCARFY—Look though and admire the faces of these aged women, beautifully wrapped in their scarf/shawl of choice.

The moral of this week's theme: Your oldest scarf No matter what age, one looks livelier and more lovely with a scarf, than without! To Scarf or not to Scarf? There is no Question!!

You're very right on this, sparklelisab! Great starter once again! Not to scarf is NOT an option. Having already showcased my oldest last year, I think I'll be a happy lurker this week! Bring on the good scarves, my silky friends! :D

Really can't keep up with you people!

The oldest scarf you own starts today (can't wait to see what SparklelisaB posts! You are doing a great job).

Guess I will re-post a couple:

"Les Joies de la Montagne" 1946. Later versions have "Clerc" on the rock in the foreground.

L"Lettre de Napoleon a Murat" d'Apres Caran d'Ache" Hugo Grygkar, 1950

Great ones, Jahna!

Greatings sarfies :)
I got my first Carré in 1999, so my scarves are not very old. However, the one I bought today from a reseller is from 1996, so it's a little bit older than my other scarves :)

The seller made a discount, and I got a bag instead of a box.

(yes, I am enjoying my very first reveal, since you're the only ones to truly understand my joy :flowers: )

Nice babushkas, sparklelisab,
But I don't think I'll adopt this style any time soon!

Allow me to segue into the new theme. Here is my oldest scarf, a discovery by DH. He rescued this soft, slightly faded old timer from an online auction a few years ago and surprised me with it during a trip to Paris. The care tag dangles from one corner, barely attached. Someone inked a name on the border, a long time ago but still visible after what must have been too many vigorous washings: Pedretti. Who was Mme. Pedretti? Was her scarf sent to a laundry, washed too hot, ironed too flat? I'll never know the story of the original owner, but i enjoy speculating on who she might have been and where she might have lived, her style, her persona. I'm the caretaker of this scarf.

Just beautiful, Jahna! Do you wear these?

Dug out of my archives, incorporating the Markova Knot (self conscious LOL!):

Brides de Gala GM Dip Dye in silver/pale blue/gold
This is a stunner, markova, love this pale blue! I tried to snap a pic of my 140 Rose Poudre to echo you, but the pics were so deceiptive I gave up! :D

Sneaking in under the wire! An oldie but a goodie- Ex Libris en Kimonos.

A great design too, congrats, Myke!

Markova - so glad you still have this beautiful DD - you always look so ethereal in it! The knots- your namesakes definitely keep the silks on trend.

Scarfies - i have been MIA on the thread and just now getting around to ogling the wonderful posts. Before our week changes, here are some of my 'exceptionals'. The EL pointu is an Ode to our dear former tpf friend Robee from a few years ago. I read with great interest recently the thread on how one's love of silks can ebb and wane through the years of collecting many H silks. After seeing a few of these show up on tpf as a new member back then, I thought I'd never find one in the boutique. In those days visiting H was intimidating and I really did not think to ask for something I had seen on tpf. On one of my visits with a very young male SA, I asked if by chance there were any pointus, and he opened the drawer for me to discover this pristine white one. Shock. awe. delight. I will never forget the shivers down my spine when serendipity struck and this one will likely not leave my collection for years to come. Five years later Ms. Blue came along on the Bay as a companion. Cheers to our silk happiness and to keeping the flame alive.
lanit, these pointus are outstanding! You were very clever to grab them. Such a pleasure to have a look on these! Thank you for sharing, my dear!

And here is our "Scuba Dubas Fighting Bubbles" (for dear sparkle). Colette BdG in Klein Blue. Lastly - BdG DD - these seem to be a classic amongst us!
I remember this one! Dotted Scubas, indeed! You look perfect!

Wow, I love good stories behind objects, even if you will never know :)

You place the bar really high, Jahna, I'm not sure anyone can compete with you :)

By the way, what was the first scarf, and when?

What a great story behind this one! I too would like to know who Mrs Pedretti is!
