What a charming little fellow - I’d be powerless too!Good morning!
I am dogsitting these days and just went on a morning walk with puppie and DD. Dont know if colliers des chiens is a power scarf (collars could be interpreted as such..hmm) but I am rather powerless in the paws of this cutie

Have a wonderful day!
The explorers of the air were quite the celebrities of their day! Viewing from above certainly gives an ‘elevated’ perspective (pun intended!), and a sense of power and freedom, I am sure!Hello and good morning,
Today I take my Folies for an outing and look at the world from above. Not bad to change perspective from time to time. 😄 @Teaforparrots , let's fly together! 🙃View attachment 6159000
So elegant in this vibrant yellow, @Croisette7! The bangle is stunning too, and a great visual reference to the sea-jewels on your scarf.
Oh, also very beautiful in yellow, Croisette7!
You have inspired me yesterday, darkstar!Oh, also very beautiful in yellow, Croisette7!
Thank you so much, Lellabelle!Welcome back @GloWW0rM Hope you’ve been enjoying the time with family over the holiday!
Strong colours, bold patterns, confidence and a killer smile: you’re right on theme for power scarves 👍😉

I find Zambeze to be an intrinsically powerful design. The mighty animals, they're advancing towards you, and the amazing green border, at least in my colorway, all speak to the power of nature.

As those of us in the states know - today is tax day and we did knot get good news from the CPA.
What’s a Scarfie to do? Well - this one washed a scarf. A new to me scarf (yes I had scarf mail - I finally succumbed to the siren call from last week), last week was too tempting!
As I was ironing it, I thought of my grandmother and my mother - two strong women who faced adversity. They would both love this scarf. They both love birds and so do I!
But I do have a point here - so onward Cookie!
The dandelion - the bane of many a gardener - pops its cheery yellow mane everywhere. It will grow wherever its seeds land, and it doesn’t care if you spray it with chemicals - it will just pop back up right next to where it was.
It’s determined to survive. IT knows that it might be the first flower a child picks to give to its mum, in all of its happy yellow glory. It’s seeds are grown in fabulous puffs that float right off after being enthusiastically blown by a child (or me). And you can even eat the greens or make dandelion wine!
So here’s to the strong resilient dandelion!
And birds!

This morning I chose RED - the ultimate power color. It's a biological indicator of health, fertility, and virility. It's associated with blood, and guts, and glory. It can be scary. Intimidating.
I was drawn to it today probably because I have been watching the Handmaid's Tale series on Hulu. The handmaids wear red from neck to ankle, probably to symbolize their fertility. They are forced to be resilient to survive. It dawned on me this morning, if Gilead didn't want the handmaids to rebel ultimately, why did they make them wear red? Pink would have sufficed. Hahaha. I'm glad Margaret Atwood gave them red. There's hope there.

So today I pulled out one of my very first CSGMs - Patchwork Horse - which has a really wonderful overall red vibe. I started the day at 4:45am with some long-wished for quiet time to do some journaling, followed by shawl repair, some work, then a hair cut. I took myself out for a lunch alone (highly recommend that on occassion!) wolfed down some very healthy protein and fruit, then had a massage.

While waiting I was able to finish a chapter in another very good read by Margaret Atwood - The Penelopiad.
I find strength in hearing about the stories of women who have persevered. Ofred / June and Penelope are heroes.

Thank you for lovely comments, Maedi, Croisette, Cookie, Jereni, Lellabelle and EtsyBoss 🥰🙌. Jereni you made me laugh out loud w your ‘mother of grails’ comment. 😂😍
I’ve been managing late work hours and these power scarves are helping.
Today is ELeK, new scarf mail from a few weeks ago and a nice new member of my Elek family: happy to be twins w many of you. Now, if I could only do that knot that Jereni does so nicely 🤔.

Have a wonderful day!
That is a quite accurate description. Fortunately his very short legs makes the bed an inconquerable territory. Unlike the couch or almost everywhere else….What a charming little fellow - I’d be powerless too!
I can see the 3:00am exchange:
Puppy: “help, my blanket is untucked! My temperature is sub-optimal! Attend to my comfort!”
Me: “yes, master. Right away! How else may I serve you?”
Puppy: “well, your bed does look comfier than mine. What’s that about? Also, you’re ruining my nap”
🤣
Haha - Dragon has no such impediment and can get anywhere, pirouetting like a Cirque du Soleil acrobat! The bed is off-limits, however. That is a quite accurate description. Fortunately his very short legs makes the bed an inconquerable territory. Unlike the couch or almost everywhere else….
Thank you for sharing, @vildachya. Truly one of the most beautiful of grails, in the most sought-after colourway. There is nothing to match black in terms of versatility and it conveys authority with ease. Femme, and it’s inspiration, are most definitely powerful! The first design that came to my mind on Sunday when I saw the theme was Les Femmes aux Semelles de Vent due to the theme, and the twill I own. I am of an age when I think about a power color for women, it is black or gray. So, of course my favorite twill is this design in the most beautiful combination of blacks and grays, imho!
Thank you for introducing us to armour and defence, Lellabelle. I'm afraid I will have to pass here. I don't like armour or anything military on me and fortunately I don't have to defend myself (anymore). I even have my issues with Parures de Samurais, very strange, I know. 🤭 Will find something else tomorrow!Day four’s topic for our power scarf journey is one that several of us have already anticipated and touched upon. With any discussion of power comes the need for defence. How can we protect ourselves when others exercise power over us, or when we need to tackle a problem head on and want to shield ourselves during the endeavour? Having just the right scarf to enhance our feeling of security can be just what’s needed to give us an edge; to give us the confidence to meet the fight head on. Today’s sub-theme is: Armour: scarves that shield us and protect our psychological power.
Some, like the much loved Parures de Samourais, or Sous L’Egide de Mars feature literal depictions of armour. While different in style and rendition, both Samourais and L’Egide were modelled after real pieces of historical armourment. Dissected and laid out for us to examine, they are less tools of war, and more like bugs under glass - a perspective that allows us to admire their beauty and intricacy with the clean conscience of the artist or historian. Like all objects of purpose, they retain some of their intent however, even in this sanitized fashion. Being able to wrap yourself in silken Samourai armour is a figurative defence from the slings and arrows of the real world.

The incomparable Parures de Samourais is Aline Honoré’s wonderful depiction of real Samourai armour from the Edo period (1615-1868). Crafted in bronze, iron, gold, leather, silk and lacquer, the pieces feature remarkable detailing, including flowers and clan coats of arms, signifying status and wealth. The pieces that inspired Aline Honoré were crafted by armourers of the Myochin school and are housed at the Ann & Gabriel Barbier‑Mueller Museum in Dallas, USA. The museum hosts close to 1000 pieces from the 14th to 18th centuries, and is one of the largest collections of its kind outside of Japan.

Sous L’Egide de Mars, by Pierre Marie, was also inspired by a museum collection, this time in association with the Musee de l'Armee in Paris. The design celebrates the rich grandeur of French armour and also highlights intricate detailing and ornamentation; showcasing the armourer’s ability to create art in metal form, using a wide range of techniques: repousse work, engraving, gilding, and damascening. The thematic reference is the twelve labours of Hercules, which is a fitting crossover to yesterday’s reflections on resilience. From the scarf story:
“ "Sous l'Egide de Mars" (‘Under the Aegis of Mars') – is a tribute to the museum's exhibition of the same name, and the fine art of protecting oneself from the blows of enemies while impressing them with finery at the same time.”

Of course, there are many other Hermes scarf designs that feature armourment, including numerous designs of knights on horseback, such as Cavaliers Peuls and Cavalier du Nuages, as well their many accoutrements; Cavaliers du Caucasse, and Les Muserolles, for example. Cavalier en Formes and Cavalier de Trompette are modern, stylised depictions that offer a softer option for those who prefer one.

The office is a battlefield of sorts (mine certainly requires armour at the moment), so here’s my Samourais, both with office and casual looks.

Style tip: pair your silken armour with a leather cuff to add a gladiatorial element, or a leather jacket, for a modern edgy vibe.
What silk do you choose when you need armour, or to feel safe?
