I am already losing track, but I just want to thank those of you who have been so complimentary about my blog. The Scarf of the Moment posts take quite some time to compile and I really enjoy writing them. Please let me know if you ever find errors or any additions I could use. I will never use my blog for financial gain as it helps me to feel useful despite my health issues. I also point visitors back here to tPF quite often!

The price increase here in the UK has really shocked me, so I think I will be “shopping my collection” this year!

Finally, I don’t think that I have posted this photo with Plumes en Fête CSGM before. Apologies if I have…

You look marvellous in this shawl which is both colourful and calm at the same time. And your „Le Jardin de la Maharani“ is perfectly elegant and serene. One of my favourite designs ever!
I too want to compliment you on your interesting and lovely blog. The time, research and learning that goes into it is visible in every post. Your article on „Sous le Charme d‘Orphée“ made me love the design even more and to a point where I almost bought one even though I didn‘t like it on me at all. I hope you will feel good enough this year to join the forum quite often and write all the blog entries you want!

Lellabelle, I did give up being precious about my silks two or three years ago, and I enjoy them so much more now!

That is a lovely Rose Legere. Is it the marine/parme/rose?
That’s the one. It was really popular I think. I wanted to love the silvery pistachio one, but the warm tones and oranges in the florals did not love me back.

Happy New Year, everyone! I usually have a general resolution to make each year better than the previous, but this year, I want to wear my scarves when I can. I rarely go out and the weather’s only conducive to scarves for about two months, so I really ought to take advantage when I can. Today’s was the LE Pegase Pop for Coded by Kids with a Bayou with Love scarf ring:
1F57E5B1-B6AF-4558-919F-E3704F32FAFF.jpeg

I want to thank everybody who planned the clever themes for every week of the new year and I‘m really looking forward to the lovely posts they will inspire! This is such a lovely community and being here - even though I quite often just follow as a silent reader - is always equally diverting and educating.

There are a great many good and sensible resolutions; it‘s very interesting to read how we mostly share the same sentiments towards the collecting and wearing of our scarfs!

My resolution is to be less lazy with scarf knotting because it makes me wear my 90 silks too little. It‘s easier to just drape a CSGM around me and call it a day than to find a good way to wear a 90 silk. Maybe I should buy some more scarf rings?

I have not yet found a way not to feel guilty about every new scarf I buy because I think I have too many already. (Not just Hermès but other brands and styles too; there is virtually no limit to finding new things I like and want to wear.) Sometimes I wonder if I should just stop looking for scarfs online once and for all - and yet I love discovering new designs and vintage treasures. I’ve already started to wear two scarfs at once when it was particularly cold outside, one as a wrap and another one as a head scarf. But when even random colleagues ask you just how many scarfs you actually own, it’s probably time to slow down a bit…

Oh, do join in the fun! Nothing makes the scarf mistresses happier than knowing our silkmates here are enjoying the camaraderie.
Very much so!
On another note - I am a new comer and haven't followed this thread for long but wanted to bring something up for moderators/ mistresses. I noticed that quite a few members mentioning re-homing the scarves - while looking out for other scarves to add to their collection (hey, no woman ever existed that kept up on her NY resolutions - lol). Would it be a sensible addition to this blog to allow members to exchange/re-home their scarves within this thread? Or at least allow those that are in the same geographical location (I am in NY for example - can organize NY tri-state area group; could be a california group, or texas, etc..) to meet and consider swapping/ exchanging/rehoming? That could also be a postitive in-person interaction (coffee/tea, quick bite to eat, chat about scarf designs, visiting H boutique together, learning knots know-hows hands-on) - as opposed to typing it away in the cyber space? I am not sure how it would work - since it is a a public thread, privacy of the information could be a concern of course - again, I don't know all the ins/outs of this blog.. just something to think about.. Have a great week everyone!

I think this just lights you up. so beautiful!
Thank you to everyone for your nice reactions to my resolution post! I can see that "rehoming" is a common theme as we start the New Year-- a natural impulse to shed a bit of baggage and start off with a clean slate. But I am only adding more !!! I completed 90% of my Spring Season shopping (so happy to have done it in the boutique and online early this year before we return to NOLA) and I am expecting the very last CCP to arrive tomorrow as well as two others, but they are on the list :yahoo: so I do not need to carry any guilt about them. Although all were purchased in 2022, I am counting them as 2023 for their date of arrival. In the meantime, I am challenging myself like @EtsyBoss, to rethink my top-scarf combinations. I tend to get into a rut but yesterday I paired a dark and slightly menswear cw of C'est la Fete with an ardoise blue sweater and I liked the freshness of the look. Today I am wearing my beloved Lanternes in the pink nacre cw on a darker top. I normally wear this with brighter raspberry pink, camel, white and black. Also trying a variation on the necklace tie and a "hide the border strategy, too!
View attachment 5681940
Again loving your thoughts. And wowza I love this tie!! please share in the tie thread. Or share the link there. It is spectacular. And this looks equally marvelous with this top as that other lighter raspberry we saw it with once.
It was June of 2020 and I had just begun collecting Hermes scarves when @Living.la.vida.fifi modelled her Les Tresors d'un Artiste in the amazing beige, red, blue and green colorway and I fell in love with both the design and the colorway. A month later I found the design brand new at a great price in an acceptable colorway (meaning, not orange) and purchased it. A placeholder scarf, for sure.

View attachment 5681984

It has taken 2 1/2 years of searching, but I finally found the original colorway that I fell in love with.

View attachment 5681986

My original intention was to put the blue colorway into the CCP program, but maybe not. That's okay.

View attachment 5681985

In any case, a related resolution this year is to limit the number of light blue scarves that I purchase. While I like light blue tops just fine, I don't seem to like that color in scarves nearly as much. I've mentioned this before, as it is something that has really surprised me.

Introducing my new-to-me Les Tresors d'un Artiste as my SOTD.

View attachment 5681987
I also find that khaki spectacular! It is awesome and looks great on too. But I also love your soft on you for summer. The darker colors are by your neck which might save it. I am in the same boat once again with you on the light blue lack of love on myself. I only own two right now and one has been teetering close to the rehome pile. Light blue is fine as a top, but maybe not so close to my face.
Happy new year, scarfies! 2022 was a culling and slow down year for me. I think I added approximately ten scarves total, and experimented with the gavroche format. I also unloaded quite a few scarves that weren’t bringing me joy, and just shipped off the last of them on December 30th! I have now got my 90 collection to 24 scarves that I love, and I’m planning on being very selective with future additions (no impulse buys!).

As for the CCP, one combination that always entices me is pink and yellow, but unfortunately these seem to be the scarves that end up the most on my chopping block. I have decided that one cause of this is the white that is often prevalent in pink and yellow scarves. White seems to be my scarf downfall. My last scarf of 2022 attempts to correct this, adding pink in a bit of a warmer tone, and pale yellow, but with no white (with the exception of one white moon). Still mulling, but so far this works better for me!

This looks amazing on you and I think you are correct ( and incredibly insightful) with this purchase to save you from ones with too much white. I also am not a big fan of too much white or cream. I have 7 scarves w base white, but they remain due to having tons of flowers and/or tons of small objects edge to edge to break it all up.
This morning I was in the mood for an alternative to the Colliers et Chiens I usually wear around the house to brighten up this gray shirt. I settled on my other wash scarf, tied to keep it out of the way of plant repotting and other tasks. I took some photos, which reacquainted me with the fun details of this Laboratoire.

oooo I haven’t seen this one in awhile. Thanks for the dose. I love this on you!
Well, my resolution this year definitely must be to slow down my purchases. Based on arrival date, quite a few 2021 purchases made it into my 2022 total, which I am not quite ready to acknowledge here. Suffice to say it wasn’t quite as many as dear @Nomad (whose finds were were superb, including some grails!), however I let go of zero so I need to book myself some time on the island! Christmas didn’t help, as I basically nominated all my acquisitions from the last three months to ‘Christmas treats’. As a positive, I will have a few to share over the coming months of self-enforced austerity!

I love some of the thoughtful resolutions here, all of which improve the individual’s collection, or use, in some meaningful way. I will also endeavour to wear less black (which may be as futile a goal as resisting the new season loveliness!). I am not ready to release any yet, so will not even attempt to make a resolution in that area. While I probably could cut my collection in half and still have a strong capsule wardrobe, they all get some neck time and I enjoy having the choice to be able to mix and match my mood and outfit choices.

My final, and most meaningful resolution is to stop being so precious about my most treasured silks and actually enjoy them rather than saving them. I’m sure this resonates with a few of us here!

Recently acquired robe elegant (legere) below. Happy 2023 everyone!

This looks wonderful on you. many of you robe legere people sure do make it tough to resist. I love navy blue and pink.
Happy 2023, dear scarfies! Looking forward to another year of wonderful themes and interesting conversation and friendship with you all!

Bunny, Happy New Year to you and sweet Snickers! Thanks for a wonderful intro. I love your Peinture, and, whoa, that special hem!

I do have some resolutions and will post them with my scarf today below.

Snausages, I need to learn this new skill you call rehoming. I would love to follow you in kondoing my collection and rehoming all those I don't adore, but I would settle for getting 3 out the door. Deep breath. Baby steps.

Cookie, I will hold your sales goggles if you will hold mine! (All bets are off when a moussie is in sight!)

Lkb - ah, the ccp... I have one coming that is part of my ccp, but will I part with its lesser sister?! Again, learn about this thing you all call rehoming.

Easier resolution, add three new knots to repertoire, beginning with this one with my very own ClF. Stunning!!

Fifi, I will join you in your scarf a day challenge. And like you, I have fallen down the blue and gold rabbit hole.

Here is my scarf today - one of my very favorites, Tropiques Poinconne

In general, I am going to try to be more mindful this year. Hopefully that will lead to greater appreciation of what I have and refine what I choose to acquire/consume.

I would love to begin actively curating my collection.

I expect to limit my new scarves to 6. (Room for my 3 grails, an as-yet unidentified 140 silk with blue as the main color, and two new or must-haves based on this thread!)
This color combo looks amazing on you! And too many funny comments here haha.

aww, thanks. I tried to resist. I really did. This one wasn’t even on my list at the beginning of the season. It was the many enabling mod pics in the A/W 2022 thread that convinced me...

Very much so!

Hi, Ashanti. You may find this subforum interesting.

The tpf get-togethers went on hiatus during the pandemic. There are some rules regarding the meets which are in a sticky thread at the top of the subforum.

I believe putting scarves up for sale in this thread would contravene the regulations as tpf is not a sales platform. There is a thread somewhere that allows you to put a post if you list your item on a sales platform, so that you can point fellow tpfers in the right direction. Not sure about barter though. We would need a mod to advise on that.

And to tempt you to take another step down the orange slope, there is a lovely scarf design named Ashanti!

I'm a big fan of scarf rings. I'm not the best at tying knots and often too impatient to learn them, so appreciate how much easier they make scarves to wear.

Thank you for your reply! I will check the get-togethers - my afterthought was how the personal information exchange could work through the public platform. it is more of a meetup staff.. i will check though - thank you!
I do have vintage Ashanti CSGM - one of my favs and which initially started my Year of Africa collection!!!:) hehe, I am all the way at the buttom of the slope by now - alas I collect mostly shawls now and I am at the point where I don't leave my house without one:) lol:)

I wish I could work with browns and taupes as you do @Redbirdhermes

It’s a worthy aspiration @paula24jen but a challenge to execute!

I once knew a collector who only bought black and white scarves! @EtsyBoss if you like dark blue rest assured there are thousands of variations in the H color library so they’re really quite different (just call me the devil on your shoulder!)

As a lover of pink I’m eager to know what is headed your way @MAGJES

Beautiful C’est la Fete @LKBNOLA and rehoming is for me a painful process. There are a few that bounce between the rehome pile and the scarf drawer but I need to remind myself of the relief I feel when a bid adieu to a silk that just doesn’t cut the mustard.

And speaking of mustard… twins on Lanternes and while I adore the mustard gold border I’d love to know how you hid it!

H math at its finest @Nomad

That Giverny is divine @Nomad please don’t rehome it! But if you do gimme a shout LOL

Beautiful PeF @HermesHope - H does feathers so well

Wonderful addition @laurenad

Excuse me @Teaforparrots you are burying the lead: who is that sweet feline?!

@Lellabelle i love the resolution of wearing our beauties with a bit more abandon!

@Awillow I find Kondoing to be somewhat painful no matter the category - must remind myself of the relief of no longer seeing something that gives me any feelings beyond joy
Snausages, I have a feeling that must be a freeing sensation. Tiptoeing closer...
 Cant wait to see your new pinks!

They’re both lovely, but the lighter blue - as @Katharina Luise said - it would be beautiful in the spring and summer, especially with a white top.

This is lovely on you!

Perfect, and sending lovey eyes to your lil friend.

Truly beautiful!
Thanks, cookie. I fell in love with it when @AnnaE posted it.
Thank you kindly Awillow!

Your red Tropiques is a dream! And I think the idea of mindful additions is a very good resolution.
Thanks, bunny. This is the year I try to be good!!!
That’s the one. It was really popular I think. I wanted to love the silvery pistachio one, but the warm tones and oranges in the florals did not love me back.
Thanks, lellabelle. You make me think I need to get to a boutique sometime soon! It's ages since I was in because my SA retired last year.
I think this just lights you up. so beautiful!

Happy New 2023 dear Scarfies!

Let the difficult (really horrible for me) 2022 be gone. I feel that with everything that was thrown on the world (and on me personally) this past year has caused me a free fall in so many ways at the same time, that joining this thread for spirit-catapulting or parachuting actually provided some up-lifting. It also resulted in yet another free fall down the rabbit H hole, but at least this one I’ve caused myself! It is in great company and with much good humour!

Exciting agenda for the new 2023! It seems like serendipity that an inspiring welcome to the new Scarf of the Day 2023 page comes from the savvy hostess by the gentle name @bunny and her adorable black kitty – the guides to the next in line celebration, the beginning of the Chinese year of black bunny / cat.

Everyone’s 2023 “scarfing” objectives are very sound and resonate with me. Mine are as follows:

  • Carrying on :) happily if possible
  • Practicing painless purchasing (PPP) ;)
  • Diversifying
  • Attempting knot tying :)
  • Not exceeding my preferable number 8 per year (Reasonable justifications: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Easter, my Birthday, DS’s (=dear son) birthday, DD’s (=dear dog) B’day, H’s (= Hermes) B’day) :) Taking into consideration the alleged price increase, this number should be easily changed to 4 – Reasonable justification:“The sacred number of Hermes was four, and the fourth day of the month was his birthday” (Britannica). The question is: 4 scarves annually or one scarf on the 4-th day of each month, though? The answer - flexible approach: could be easily adjusted to specific circumstances! I can commit to 4 annual purchases. But monthly acquisitions, if they were affordable, could have been such a perfect demonstration of pluricultural perspective – tribute to Orthodox Christmas, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Canada Day, Independence Day (US), Fete Nationale (Bastille Day), and etc.! :)
  • Exercising casual ware
  • Fighting Robe Legere addiction
  • Overcoming Robe Legere addiction
Vivat 2023! Happy scarfing fulfillment to all!

Hey hey, new year, new skill: the multiquote! (I still need to practice...)

How sweet !
Comments like this make me love this forum more and more every day. What a joy to start the day with such positive feedback!

Now I've found my scarf soul mate for sure.
:hugs: @Coco2606.
So, even pre-pandemic, my working hours almost exactly matched store hours, and I'm not near downtown. Post-pandemic, I haven't been in a store in forever. I got to travel through LHR this holiday season, which I was super excited by. Was looking casually at scarves, a random guy walks in: "Is that a women's scarf?" "Yes, it's 900 pounds." "I'll take it." He leaves, I ask for a few specific things, none of which they have. She shows me some scarves: "I know this is H heresy, but I don't like orange." She gives me a sickly smile, shows me another scarf. "I... am not a horse person?" We agree that hopefully on my return trip they'll have SS 23 scarves and we'll have better luck.

This is possibly great for the wallet, but it feels weird.
This is a very funny little vignette @FizzyWater -- I think @bunnycat's lipstick rescue strategy could help next time...
Resolution 1 : 6 new scarves max (I saw the new prices last night and this will certainly help)
Resolution 2 : to apply myself a bit more to tie my scarves and fully pay tribute to this "art to wear".
Today, I'm going to take Mr. Cat for his vaccination at the vet. I haven't told him yet that I'm making him a sal... So "Pelage et camouflages" seems very appropriate.

How beautiful (and fitting for your errand!) @Coco2606 ...
Your comparison to good poetry is wonderful dear LKBNOLA! And your collection shows this sophisticated approach. During the last year you were a permanent inspiration with scarves as well as your impeccable tying skills! I am happy to follow your journey in 2023. And by the way of course your C‘est la Fête is gorgeous! :hugs:
Thank you so much @Katharina Luise!

This is my absolute favorite cw of Tresors @Redbirdhermes. Congratulations on finding it. I know how much this scarf resonates with you because of your artist daughter. I would put your blue one into CCP-Add Division and keep it as @Katharina Luise and @Cookiefiend suggested for a nice spring/summer alternative to your gorgeous new khaki cw. And I am on a "light blue diet" also for the rest of 2023...
Yes! This is the color top that I envisioned wearing with this scarf, had I been able to purchase it. Lovely, LKB. Your sweater looks warm and well-loved, like a well-lived life. Great knot.
Thank you! J Crew has this "rollneck sweater in supersoft yarn" or that makes a sweater feel lived in and cozy even when brand new. And they do not itch at all!
Congrats to your new scarves! Obviously we are far behind here in Germany. Until today we only got the price increase but not a single one of the new season scarves on the H website. ;) The combination with this darker burgundy sweater is beautiful. It’s a wonderful warm color for winter.
Thank you @Katharina Luise -- I think you may have just had a big drop of new scarves to go with your new increases  Another reason for me to be happy I was able to get my shopping done in 2022 even if the pieces don't arrive until 2023.

You look beauiful in your Robe Legere with your tres chic jacket and lovely hair @Lellabelle. I think you are doing a fine job of enjoying your scarves. It took the Pandemic, ironically enough, for me to de-fetishize the scarves I had at the time. I thought I might never wear them again in company so I began wearing one every day and that habit is now a daily practice, like Wordle and my morning readings and walking the dogs!

This is just stunning @Awillow. I know what you mean about scarf divesting. In my CCP I have a loophole! I call it the CCP-Add Division. No replacement just an addition! Voila! Not guilt-free but...easier than its stricter sister the CCP-Replace Division...See? Scarfies can rationalize anything!

Thank you @Snausages and for my other twin @Nomad: the knot is just a bias fold then grab the tails about mid-chest twist and make a knot. Tuck the tails of the knot into the knot folds anyway that works. I take them around the back side of the knot. Spread out the folds a bit/play with it till it features part of the color or design you want to show and you're off!

Wow-- I love this @leechiyong and I love your Bayou with Love scarf ring! Is it the beaded one?

I agree with everything in your post @Thelittlefoxes and I hope you will find a way to participate more actively in 2023. I miss your thoughtful comments and remarkable observations!

  • Carrying on  happily if possible
  • Practicing painless purchasing (PPP) ;)
  • Diversifying
  • Attempting knot tying
  • Not exceeding my preferable number 8 per year (Reasonable justifications: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Easter, my Birthday, DS’s (=dear son) birthday, DD’s (=dear dog) B’day, H’s (= Hermes) B’day) Taking into consideration the alleged price increase, this number should be easily changed to 4 – Reasonable justification:“The sacred number of Hermes was four, and the fourth day of the month was his birthday” (Britannica).

Vivat 2023! Happy scarfing fulfillment to all!
Oh, @Stylehound what an amazing and enjoyable post! I am truly sorry that you had such an abominable year. I myselwas very ready to put 2022 in the rearview mirror for a host of reasons and I found my morning stops at TPF were a bright spot in otherwise difficult days. I am sure that will continue, but I hope that 2023 will be a Kinder, Gentler Year for us all and for you! Your H Math in bullet point #4 was an absolute exercise in pyrotechnic numbers-- In fact, I was panting hard to keep up with you by the end! We are probably not the best group to look to for addiction resistance strategies but I am looking forward to more stunning mod shots from you as you try out new knots and casual stylings. Also you have now got your own TPF copyright with the PPP...
