Wishing wa speedy recovery, Lellabelle. Keeping you in my I can’t wait to see your CdO. I think it’s the cw I was most smitten with. Your manicure is stunning!
Thank you for the well wishes, @Karenska. I hope you’re feeling better too! :hugs:

I was worried about how yellow this one might be (the lights in H are very warm). Our cool northern sun seems to pull more it more in the cream direction, which makes it wearable for me. It’s really pretty and easy to tie. I hope you find one at a good price!

Aww, thanks, TFP! A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!

Your tree, and festive scarves are fabulous! Tell us: did that incredible red chaise/loveseat in your vintage shopping pic come home with you?
Thank you! I wish it had! I’d love to have it in my study but I need bookshelves more than I need seating. Sigh.

I was lucky that someone who attended the Madison Store opening did not want their special scarf and it made its way to me! It isn't technically a holiday scarf but it reminds me of all those winter cab rides in NYC along the avenues with their bright lights and decorations. If you could even hail a cab, that is! Never easy and especially not at Christmastime. But that's ok. I have a yellow cab on my scarf to take me anywhere I please...

Congratulations, LKB! So glad you were able to add the beautiful Madison Party to your collection. There is something on this scarf for everyone, I think. It's a party, indeed!

Happy Sunday, dear Scarfies, and thank you, Fifi @Living.la.vida.fifi, for your lovely Advent celebration of purple scarves, so many colorful beauties, and to everyone who showed off your treasures this week. I think of this week’s theme as a continuation of the last, as Fifi expressed it perfectly, “The joyful season beckons us to be a little more festive, merry and bright and what better way to show it than with our beloved silks.”

Jingle Bell Rock: Festive Scarves to Rock Your Holidays!
Welcome to the start of this sacred and peaceful time for all of us, a time of reflection, celebration, merrymaking and light. Hannukah, the Festival of Lights, begins tonight, December 18, with the lighting of the first candle of the Menorah. Today, the Fourth Sunday of Advent marks the start of Christmas week. Wednesday is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, but also the beginning of a ‘new year’ of lengthening days. December 26 begins the African festival of Kwanzaa, or “First Fruits”. Each commemorates the shared promise of rebirth and renewal for all living things, and we welcome this time with joy. So let’s don our festive apparel, our sparkly jewelry, and of course, our beautiful, celebratory scarves as we begin our holiday season!

Festive SOTD, La Comedie Italienne by Phillipe Ledoux. Depicting the Commedia dell’Arte and all its reveling stock characters, I find this gem to be perfectly lovely for celebrating.

En pointe, also, because today is the 130th anniversary of the debut of Tschaikovsky’s iconic Nutcracker ballet. It premiered December 18, 1892 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg.

Ivan Vsevolozhsky's original costume sketch for The Nutcracker (1892)

In the cast is a character called Mother Ginger whose skirt contains adorable Polichinelles, or little Pulchinellas, a Commedia dell’Arte stock figure of some importance . Here is their dance from New York City Ballet’s 1993 Nutcracker film. Macauley Culkin, already a star, was also a student at the School of American ballet, and was given the starring role of the Nutcracker Prince. Enjoy!

My Nutcracker display, complete with Sugarplum, pointe shoes, and a photo of the composer who made it all happen.

SOTD, Grand Vie du Nord plisse with sparkly crystal and ss necklace. I am so behind because of being ill, but I just want to say you are showing some fantastically festive silks! Merry, merry…

And my mantlepiece. That Father Christmas doll is 40 years old. The little elf in the crook in his arm is an antique and a gift from my beloved aunt and godmother.

LVdGN is perfect with pink and the crystals! And your decorations are beautiful too!

Thank you @Cookiefiend, @Croisette7, @bunnycat and @Katharina Luise for your nice comments on Maison Madison!
Finally time to show the first two of my wintery festive scarves! I wear them only in the time around Christmas. And I love choosing the matching jewelry. Because of that some photos not only of the scarves worn but also of the jewelry combinations ;)
My Neige d‘Antan and my Plaisirs du Froid

You look beautiful and festive in your holiday silks and I love, love, love you earrings! A lovely pairing @Katharina Luise -- I am in the hunt for a Plaisirs du Froid-- the vignettes are so charming and I love the "fringe"-- a true winter-themed silk!
L'Hiver en Poste is one of my favorite winter holiday scarves.

As travelers struggle with canceled flights and snowy highways today, this scarf reminds us of times before air or auto travel. Look at those horses struggling to get through the deep snow on an unplowed road.

Here is a quick mod shot then I'm back inside. I'm wearing my best pearls today, peacock Tahitians from Kamoka Pearls.

I love this @Redbirdhermes! It looks great with your pearls and sweater and please do not get frostbite while taking a mod shot!
This is soooo beautiful, Lkb. I don’t recognize the design but the beauty is indeniable. Happy 4th Night.
This is Les Legendes de l'Arbre Coloriage @Karenska and thank you so much. I can never resist gingko leaves...

Your Christmas decorations are so charming and how special that they have so much family history and meaning! Of curse I love this plisse with your gorgeous chenille sweater and sparkly station necklace @Karenska.
Thank you all for the kind wishes (I hope I haven’t missed anyone!). Recovering slowly, and like @bunnycat and MrBCat, MrBelle and I will be in a quarantine bubble too over the holidays. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy holiday season.

Following Bunny's brave example, and for @LKBNOLA and @Karenska : my new to me Charme, below. I haven’t found any festive motifs in it (though the greenery has a pagan-vibe, perhaps…?), but the soft creams and lilacs are a lovely mirror for our very wintery sunrise this morning. Three feet of snow on the ground, and it’s -15C, so this was a VERY quick photo!

Absolutely gorgeous and in this winter light the colors looks so cool in tone and quite different-- H magic at work @Lellabelle. I hope you are feeling better in time for the holidays and can wear your new beauty with joy and good health.

Both looks are so lovely and Christmas-y @Cookiefiend-- I am gearing up for my annual watching of Love Actually on Saturday night, speaking of Christmas movies....
Another side of my Christmas tree and my self-wabi-sabi’d but still festive Perroquets scarf (Great Chicken Explosion Situation Of 2022). Still very wearable but I’d definitely buy another if I found one in great condition.

I am glad it survived the Great Chicken Explosion of 2022 @Teaforparrots. Because it is perfect for you and great on you! Some day you will have to report more fully on this alarming, yet intriguing incident. I feel there is a cautionary tale lurking in your story that would benefit us all, so please don't hold back on details. When you are feeling ready, of course...

Thank you @Redbirdhermes -- I know we are twins and I loved your showing it during a recent theme week and also showing the little Lego figure for comparison! I think it is unique in my collection for many reasons but the yellow hem is certainly one of them! So cheerful against the other winter colors...

This is just stunning and so beautifully paired with your top and jewelry @Stylehound. I would like to know more about this design-- I am aware that the Ballet Russes costumes had an enormous impact on fashion design and ornament in the early twentieth century and really captivated the imagination of spectators, writers and artists...but your scarf makes me curious to learn more...
Will catch up tomorrow. Running out the door in my close but no cigar tourbillons.

You have such really pretty and delightful moussies @Awillow. I love this shade of pink...
SOTD and Scarf mail for the 5th night of Chanukah is Sous le Charme d'Orphee twilly. The reindeer, wintertime stars and trees with berries seem very “holidays” to me.

Happy Chanukah, @de vent and what a nice scarf mail gift-- I think the design has a lots of wintry elements too-- stars and berries and in this colorway it looks so pretty and festive.
An unexpected and happy find. Somewhat befitting for this week and the waxing day.
