Good morning, dear fellow scarfies,

this week is about the delights of winter. Winter is not only about dark, bleak evenings, long nights and cold hands and toes. It is also about fun outside: skating and skiing, building snowmen and feeling snug and wam in a thick coat with hat and gloves and of course a scarf. Here in The Netherlands, we have a long tradition of skating whenever and wherever it is possible. In Amsterdam, every 10 years or so it is cold enough to skate on the frozen canals, a magic experience.

The quintessential winter scarf for me is Les plaisirs du froid, The delights of the cold, showing skaters and a winter scene reminiscent of the famous winter landscapes (“wintertjes”) of the deaf painter Hendrik Avercamp.

So this week, show us your scarves evoking winter pleasures, and also how you keep warm in the cold. Do you combine scarves? Do you wear wintry motives only in the weeks before Christmas (or also in summer)? What colours do you associate with winter? For those in warmer climates, how do you use scarves to ward off the chill of air conditioning or evening dinners outside? Looking forward to see your treasures!

Lovely intro, Agrume!
And your closing reminded me of a "joke". When the company where I work was planning the specs for a new building, they asked a staff member to do the proposal for a sustainable "green" air conditioning system. The staff member took an unwise shortcut and copied the specs off the internet. There was disbelief when the committee read his proposal for how to adjust the temperature during winter. Someone had to point out that Singapore had no winter

And I fell off of The
Ayayay, pirula. That is fabulous. Enjoy dinner!
Ah, the moussie - the format I have not yet even seen. All of yours are gorgeous. I go back and forth with designs, as well.

Bonsoir, you look lovely and your SOTD is so fab, Pirula! I hope you and your fellow diners enjoy every bit of your evening.
Thank you, Cookie!

So elegant!

Exquisite, Pirula!
such a beautiful scarf!

Thank you so much!
fabulous look!

I love this one!
I love this design — simple, yet elegant.

I really like how well it goes with your dress (Missoni I am guessing?)

Lovely — and really goes with your teddy bear coat

Thank you so much everyone. We had a great evening. This scarf is a great one and I’m always amazed when I remember how I hemmed and hawed about it at the time. Even leaving it with the SA for a couple of hours while I went to have lunch with friends. But I made the right choice!

yes the dress is Missoni. Thanks again!

We have been on the frozen canals years ago, so much fun, Agrume! Twins on PdF, pretty with your grey ring!
Agrume, I have just enlarged the Averkamp painting, it reminds me on Brueghel, so sweet details!
Thank you, Croisette, how nice to be your twin (also re frozen canals)! :hugs:

Warm and cozy with Peuple du Vent CSGM today

Gorgeous, and love how the turquoise hem is mirrored by your bracelet.

Oh I love that picture of skating on the canal! I always think of the Great Frost in V Woolf's Orlando.
Thank you so much, Moma! Yes, I understand.

Lovely intro, Agrume!

Thank you, Xincinsin... sometimes, with AC, you feel the need of woollen socks (and scarves) even in the middle of summer, so those specs are an enigma to me.

Lovely intro!!
Thank you kindly, CBL!

Live this combination. Gorgeous!

Hi, all!

Two scarves: wore my crêpe La Rosee outside for the first time (it seems like such a big step these days; @Living.la.vida.fifi that’s the crazy store one) and wore a Carnival des Oiseaux a couple days ago View attachment 4975111View attachment 4975112

So pretty. Love the first one.

Two more blacks with my fuzzy coats.

Lovely intro, agrume. Amsterdam is high on my list of places to visit, post-pandemic. The closest I have gotten is the airport on a layover on the way to visit my in-laws. My memory consists of seeing tons of tulip bulbs, an awareness that it was the most well-lit airport I had ever been in, and my exhausted infant daughter crying her eyes out.

Beautiful, fifi. I love this feux d'artifice. The way you tied it showcases it so well, and the jacquard pattern is great on it.
