Good morning, dear fellow scarfies,

this week is about the delights of winter. Winter is not only about dark, bleak evenings, long nights and cold hands and toes. It is also about fun outside: skating and skiing, building snowmen and feeling snug and wam in a thick coat with hat and gloves and of course a scarf. Here in The Netherlands, we have a long tradition of skating whenever and wherever it is possible. In Amsterdam, every 10 years or so it is cold enough to skate on the frozen canals, a magic experience.

The quintessential winter scarf for me is Les plaisirs du froid, The delights of the cold, showing skaters and a winter scene reminiscent of the famous winter landscapes (“wintertjes”) of the deaf painter Hendrik Avercamp.

So this week, show us your scarves evoking winter pleasures, and also how you keep warm in the cold. Do you combine scarves? Do you wear wintry motives only in the weeks before Christmas (or also in summer)? What colours do you associate with winter? For those in warmer climates, how do you use scarves to ward off the chill of air conditioning or evening dinners outside? Looking forward to see your treasures!

Fabulous with your teddy, MAGJES!

Hi, all!

Two scarves: wore my crêpe La Rosee outside for the first time (it seems like such a big step these days; @Living.la.vida.fifi that’s the crazy store one) and wore a Carnival des Oiseaux a couple days ago View attachment 4975111View attachment 4975112
Gorgeous La Rosee, Anna! Beautiful aquamarine pendant too!

Two more blacks with my fuzzy coats.

So chic, MAGJES!

I gave myself an A+ this week in the Evil Queen department :broom: with Brides de Gala in red and black and Parures des Sables in green/purple/black....

Precious, precious, my dear! Looove both so much!

Thank you so much! I will PM you the step-by-step process with pictures

So glad to see you here again! You look amazing! The shawl is a wonder and was made for you!

Well, you look positively lovely... and Scarfie Friends are the BEST!

Hahahha! And, you’re wearing another treasure... That vibrant shade of purple is inimitable

The BEST holiday shawl ever! If I owned it, I don’t think I would be able to take it off during wintertime

Happy to be your twin on both as these are the best CWs of Samourais, IMO... Treasures to savor and enjoy

Oooh, Congrats! I am blown away by how vivid yellow ZambeZe is even in the wash version! It is so fabulous, as is the yellow Plumes... And, Pony Express is such a timeless classic

Looks fabulous on you! Love the second knot, especially

What incredible colors! And, there is that amazing necklace peeking out again

It ties so beautifully and I love it with the necklace

Ex Libris is such a classic... always looks so chic

Well, here’s my input: it’s amazing and my favorite CW of Appaloosa.. and looks wonderful on you! Honestly, that one is a no-brainer... I am your twin and wish I had two CWs like you do... Also, I love the Navajo pendant with this design

This knot works so well for this format

Beautifully styled!

This is sooo striking! The best CW of this design! I was so close to getting it myself, but found it a bit too similar in CW and style to a couple in my collex

OMG, so it was La Rosee! Yikes! Both of these are so amazing! So glad I was able to find a Carnaval before it being too late

Spectacular!

Simply gorgeous
Thank you so much, dear fifi!

My au pays des oiseaux-fleurs that I wore yesterday. One pic is the way I wore it that day, and the other is because I wanted you all to see how gorgeous in black it is.

Agrume, I have just enlarged the Averkamp painting, it reminds me on Brueghel, so sweet details!

And I fell off of The Island. Not sure about this b/c there is so much orange, but I had to buy it to see it. Appaloosa again. I’d love your input, everyone! View attachment 4974960
Oh that second appaloosa is terrible and you must sell it to me immediately! (YES, I am looking for one, LOL!)

Oh I love that picture of skating on the canal! I always think of the Great Frost in V Woolf's Orlando.
