My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

My contribution honors Bond girl #7 Jill Masterson, who died from being spray painted gold in Goldfinger. It is Ex Libris Glam.
glam.jpg

I have all kinds of other ideas for the theme based on location, significant plot details, manner of death. Let me share. Rather than mentioning the specific scarf, let me mention scarf content.

1 Honey Rider--Caribbean themed
9 Tilly Masterson--man's hat
10 Bonita--baths
12 Domino Deval--coral
14 Fiona Volpe--dancing
17 Kissy Suzaki--something Japanese
20 Helga Grant--fish

Brilliant, Cordeliere! I like your lateral thinking. I can work with that

Very clever on theme with the gold scarf.
I would add to your list: Since much of Octopussy is filmed in Udaipur, I think "on-theme" would pretty much include any scarfs from "The Year of India".

So cute!

Thank you fifi!!

I always LOVE seeing your BdG Shadow! You tie it wonderfully.
I am kicking myself for re-homing my Flowers of South Africa in this colorway. It looks gorgeous on you.

Perfect match!

You have a marvelous collection Ms. Cookie!!

How wonderful that you are able to do this and thank you for sharing the chart. I have been using a makeshift mask from buffs I use when cycling during windy weather. Now I plan on working a vacuum bag in with this.
Thank you so much!

Your new Azulejos is amazing!!
LOVE your colorway of Ex Libris a Carreaux!

This is beautiful!!

Bravo Karenska!

I love your savana colorway!
Thanks so much! They give me JOY!

Ardmore Artists from the Archives -

March of Zambezi

(Pardon the tag on the last pic.....I was thinking of re-homing a while back and was taking photos.
As usual I changed my mind and kept!)

Savana Dance CSGMs from the archives and a recent Savana gav purchase!
All beyond beautiful... We are twins on the second CW of MdZ which remains my fav CW...

Thank you, bunnycat!

Love your black Savanna Dance!

Perfect with your denim jacket, fifi ... and congrats on your new Azulejos!

All gorgeous... You always choose the best CWs

❤️ So cute! The moussie bandana is such a fun scarf! ❤️

Oh thank you! I love the cool green color in there, it’s a perfect lil zip of minty green!

Thank you!

Lovely and congratulations!

Awww - thank you! (I think the same about yours!)
Thanks much!

Decided to wear a scarf today too. Millifleur du mexique. Paired with my new rouge H lipstick.View attachment 4703305
Beautiful CW... and, is this a Mai Tai ring? Very pretty

It’s the weekend - though what does that mean anymore? :giggle: Anywho - I’ve saved my favorite for last - Ex Libris originally by Hugo Grygkar

And then Madras Ex Libris
View attachment 4703348
And lastly Ex Libris en Kimonos by Anamorphee! Same scarf, just different corners!

Thanks everyone, I hope you had a fun week!
That cannot be the same scarf! Talk about versatile!

well, we are “freezing in place” here as cold rains move through. Not great scarf weather, but I did sneak in a show of force this week—Flamboyant Web CS100 from men’s collection—have to take a stand against the eight-eyed ones lurking to engulf the carport in a very un-loved silk as soon as warms again!
View attachment 4703638
This is an amazing design and especially in this wonderful CW!

My little H secret is that I ADORE Ardmore Artist’s Baobab Cat and have collected 3 colorways to date plus one cute little gav. I yearn for this design in the CSGM format! .....pretty please and a mousseline would be icing on the cake.
It’s such a great design! It was excruciating for me to pick just one at the time

I wanted to share my ELEK CSGMs before the week is over. This design in this format is a joy to wear.
This would be delightful in a little gavoche!
Oh my heavens... You are so lucky! Gorgeous!

H made versions of their signature scarves for a 2010 collaboration with Paris concept store Colette. In 2011, they contributed a BdG with stripes to the multi-designer collaboration helmed by Colette for its Away project.

This is the BdG with navy "mariniere" stripes issued in 2011.

I adore stripes, so I’ve always admired this BdG version

All so amazing!!

Good morning scarflandians!!:wave:I hope you are well. It is during this time the work the scarf mistresses have given that I appreciate the most. I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. You are a continued source of inspiration, knowledge and entertainment to me in these times. Thank you!!:yahoo:Back to this weeks theme!

When I was asked about if I would do this weeks theme. I jumped at the chance! And can you blame me? This weeks theme: from Russia with love! This weeks is all about Bondesque scarves and Russian- Eastern European themes.

Bond girls: romantic interests of 007 have always been attractive, each one very distinct. For reference here is a list of all the Bond girls, if you would like some inspiration!!;)

https://www.007james.com/articles/list_of_james_bond_girls.php

I will draw from this list later this week myself!

I haven’t seen much in the way of scarves in bond films. So my examples this week are what I imagine Bond girls might wear.

From Russia with Love: My first inspiration comes from Bond girl Sylvia Trench , a very “posh” lady. She introduced her herself as “ Trench, Sylvia Trench” inspiring Bond, James Bond. Her infamous scene in a just a shirt has inspired me to “add” to the outfit!:giggles:Here is the original and here is my version. I like my version better, but I also like wearing bottoms!!

I look forward to your Bondesque or Eastern European themed scarves this week!!:flowers:
Great intro and such a fun theme with multiple possibilities!

Great intro Julide! I am going to have fun reviewing all the Bond girl info. (And I'll really have to dig through the scarf drawer for some East European theme scarves!)

Off the top of my head, I guess I think of "Bond Girls" as being pretty, and a little mysterious and maybe a little sinister too...

And while I can't say I qualify in the "pretty" department, I think with a little help from Caducee Rock I've got mysterious and a tiny bit sinister under control.

View attachment 4704026
But, @bunnycat ... my tango-dancing-feline-loving-leather-wearing-scarfie! You are the epitome of the Bond Girl!

View attachment 4704039 Sadly, nothing in my collection jumps out as fitting the theme this week. And the only way I would ever carry off a bond girl look is if she was way, way undercover, posing as the girl next door. And about thirty years older!

So here is les artisans.
Such a marvelous design! I can’t believe I have two CWs in their boxes and we can’t even go out! Waaaaah!

Making quarantine Sunday better by wearing my Les Chevaux Des Empereurs Monghols scarf with a Cadenas scarf ring and H lipstick in the colour Rose Encens.
So beautiful!

Off theme, but today is Happy Geology Day! In honour of the day I will wear my Hermes Geology themed scarfs (keeping Mineraux and Pierres & Cristaux in reserve [archive pic] )

Given that our theme this week will focus on Russian and Eastern European designs, themes and influences, here are my scarves created by Polish artist Jan Bajtlik.
First of all, Animapolis. The fanciful fictional city of the illustration was inspired on the architecture of Warsaw, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev and New York. Down below are some details that show the onion-domes and Cracovian folk dancers.

Bunny, you always look fab. Tgis is a scarf I wish I had in my collection. *sigh* I will enjoy it vicariously though.

Thank you kindly Awillow! I think Caducee Rock in any format is a must in Scarflandia!

I was surprised to learn how many of their characters died! My fave was Diana Rigg in Her Majesty’s Secret Service, an actual love story, albeit with a tragic end. When I think of Bond Girls I think of Sixties / Seventies fashion, I propose that anything with 60s/70s vibe fits the theme :)

Fun & interesting theme; boy am I ready for something light hearted! I’m so grateful for you & other fab’ scarf mistresses as well as others who are here sharing in whatever way they feel inclined to. You all create a silky, safe haven!

I think it's an interesting cw and it fills a gap in my scarf wardrobe, as most other I have are in the blue and red range. I love how some ways of folding it makes the horses in the corners appear more.

(I think the scarf looks more true to the actual colours in my other photo)
I’ve been thinking about this one and amazed at how varied the color ways are. This combination is unexpected, but I love it & it looks fab’ on you!!

I’m so glad! :P You tie it beautifully :drinks:

I missed out on last week’s fun due to some unexpected projects, but jumping in with a short brown buttery leather trench & Bolduc... when worn together evoke a feeling (at least in my head) of being a total alluring bad*ss; a-la Bond Girl. :coolio:
