My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

That jacquard is perfect in Yoon's knot! We have a new knot!!!! :dothewave:

Happy New Year, scarfies! These are old photos, but just want to close out the year with a rainbow scarf. Here’s to a hopefully awesome 2021, in scarf life and in real life. Cheers!

I love this pastel rainbow!!!

In Singapore English, when you wish for something that is unlikely to happen (like winning the lottery), we say you can "wait long long". These are my winners for the Wait Long Long Award

Neither of these designs came to my home H and, after my hopes slowly dissipated over months, I had to go to another H boutique to find them :annoyed:. Very glad that I did not miss out on them: Les Artisans and H Odyssey gav.

Wait Long Long - I love it! It needs a theme....

Totally off topic but I received fleurs de giverny yesterday in the mail and decided to throw it on for a grocery store run. Ultimately decided on ITCW as it has never left the house! My New Years resolution is to enjoy my scarves daily no matter the activity. Maybe ITCW can get the Oscarf for always a bridesmaid never a bride. Added a bonus pic of my cavapoo Sammy and Russian blue Sophie.
Love the ITCW on you! It definitely deserves to be the Bride often! And, Sammy and Sophie are such cuties!

Taking time out to experiment today.

Green wins the Award for Most Common Colour Purchased in 2020. It is the main or important subsidiary colour in almost half the scarves I bought (H and non-H).

This is Ispahan and Cavalcade de Mai. Like I said, experimental (I must try with other scarf rings). I was attempting to create the shades of green that you would see when you look at a copse of trees, inspired by a local photographer who took pics of a local forest and made it look magical!

Two rare beauties appearing together! Wow! Such glorious shades of green... so creative as usual

Very fun week seeing everyone's scarf journeys and awards for 2020. My contribution is La Folle Parade, one of my favorites. Its such happy, fun, whimsical scarf. Every time I see it or wear it I smile.
I imagine if it were a film, it would be an in the Oscar category of animated short, with the cart wonkily rolling along and the critters frollicking and and playing silly pranks on each other to a cacaphony of music.

Presenting the award is my Little Girl (yes that's her name) but since this is the first year and she's new at this, she was a bit confused as to what to do.... Hopefully she'll get the hang of it with practice! No mod shots since I'm dealing with Covoid hair (again!) and Christmas pounds. Best wishes to all for a Happy and Safe New Year!

On this last day of the year I am reminded of the double-faced Roman god Janus, with the old man looking back at the last year, and the young man looking forward to the next. I was fortunate this year to welcome two incredible double-faced Hermes scarves into my collection. Della Cavalleria Favolosa is a delight with the various chimera playing with children's toys. But, C'est la Fete is in a class by itself and is certainly appropriate to wear as we bid goodbye to 2020.

The Oscarf for Best Double-Faced Scarf goes to C'est la Fete.

C’est la Fete is a masterpiece... I agree... And DCF is pretty amazing, too

My Oscarf for All-Around Favorite Scarf goes to .... La Danse Des Amazones! Does anyone remember my hemming and hawing about whether I would send her back? What was I thinking? Came to my senses fortunately (scarf-mergency happy resolution, thanks guys!). The rich, soft colors and fine details make me feel cozy and comforted, yet sophisticated. The Amazones make me feel like a warrior princess - usually they are hidden but that's ok, I know they are there which is the important thing! The darling owl is emblematic of my "knowledge work" profession. And the variety of motifs, patterns, and little pops of stronger color provide continual variety. Happy New Year all!

It is truly fabulous, and looks amazing on you, no matter the knot and how you style it... So happy it stayed with you

Today, on this last day of 2020 (go ahead and play The Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated" you know you want to! ) I have a special award. Mostly I made it up so I could wear my Brazil MT yesterday before the cold front came through here. :P But then I thought, "ya know? It really is a special award!"

So I looked though my Scarfnotes (yes- for realz....color coded too) to see just how many went in and out this year. Despite telling myself I was going to cool it a bit, 23 scarves still found their way IN the door either as a gift or purchase. I am grateful that 18 did go OUT the door to better pastures (mostly twillies and pocket squares but I did "cull" the moussies too and the cashmere (only by 1 tho  )

So this very special award goes to a group of scarves that have somehow managed to avoid being re-homed in one of the inevitable Bunnycat Culls. I fully admit that I can be fickle and get tired of something (sometimes quickly) and have finally accepted that is OK! But there is an awful lot of "red" (sold) in my notes from the first year in Spring 2014-15 of Scarfbuying (I'm creating a whole bunch of new verbs here....) and very little of the "dark blue" (still in the scarf drawer) from that time.

The Scarf Survivors Award goes to:
