My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Wowza, a powerful punch of purple, Fifi. Love them all! That photo of you in Zenobie is really lovely. You should have it framed. Your cw of Le Monde est Vaste is my favorite. Twins on the Della.
Thank you so much! I think that pic came out good not only because of the Zenobie, but because I had a flattering haircut I really liked back then... Gotta try that again

Nice find! I love seeing you in red, but since C’est la Fete does not come in that color, I think you look great in this scarf.

Thank you! Let’s hope the next re-issue will have a red version :)
This looks chic on you, Anna. This was a cw I was supposed to see in the atlanta boutique while I was there, but then covid hit and travel shut down. Ah well. That hem is great!

Thanks! Do you ever FaceTime your SA? I have been doing all my shopping that way!

Wow! Worth every penny

Thanks! I actually got a shockingly good price for it. Got it from Russia — I think what is popular here is not always popular there, and vice verse.

I mailed two packages in PA with three-day mail on Monday. They haven't registered as leaving my local PO yet to get to their next distribution center. My friend is waiting for packages from Pittsburgh he ordered last week, and he hasn't gotten beyond the shipping label on one. I support the PO, but this is painful.

(We were told by the PA Dept of State not to mail ballots two days before the election, but to drop them off if you were voting by mail to be sure they would arrive to be counted.)

That’s so unfortunate... I know the USPS has had major issues this year driven by the administration, but it is indeed so frustrating.

Thank you!

You look appropriately winterized! Is there snow on the ground?

Just for you, AnnaE, I will keep an eye out for a Fleurs de l'Opera in your colours :P
The Cookie effect!

Most of my bags are 2 figure and have cartoon characters  One of the first things I told my SA was: I'm not interested in buying a bag. It does mean I'll never make the cut for VIP status, but no great loss.

It would look good with your fiery red coat!

Thank you! I think the red Flyers d’Opera exists, but I haven’t gotten lucky yet.

Agreed about the bags and vip status. But I do think my SA loves my obvious appreciation for scarves. I think she doesn't see a lot of clients so focused on them and as enthusiastic. She and I were texting yesterday about what I can't wait to see next season

I think most people who come through the door at Hermes are looking for one of the quota bags. SAs must feel refreshed when someone is actually genuinely interested in something else.

I don’t know what VIP status really is — an ability to buy more bags? More expensive bags?

I am not really a bag person. I do enjoy good craftsmanship and I have acquired a fair number of Hermes bags over the years (I am also that person who is always offered quota bags — I think the SAs can sense I am not there for one; over the years I have been seduced by a few bags I love using). What makes me sad though is that when I see stories of people buying scarves or small leather goods just to be offered a quota bag. I feel like that is such a waste of a quality item.

My apologies for being a rather absent scarf mistress this week - RL swamped me

Sometimes, I am entranced by a design belonging to a scarf soul sister here, but maybe I can't find that exact CW or another CW suits me better.
I have two scarves for this week that were enabled by @Living.la.vida.fifi and acquired this year.

When H came out with the double-sided scarves, naturally I focussed on getting a C'est le Fete. Then when Fifi showed her beautiful colourful Della Cavalleria, I took a second look. My SA said they still had all the cws available, so I spent a couple of hours standing there debating the merits of each CW. In the end, I chose a more austere CW because both sides looked good with denim. This is the more monochromatic side with the chimeric animals in navy and a deep purple close to indigo.

The other scarf Fifi inspired me to buy is BdG Finesse. There are swirls of purple, red and blue lines all over the scarf. Goes very well with denim (my most useful H-excuse  )

Wow, you sure know how to get enabled!

I received clothes mail yesterday from the OSKA fall/winter sale. These new pieces screamed out for Mountain Zebra. There are purple flowers and shadows in this colorway.

Lovely match on you!

I really love it on you, AnnaE. The orange and yellow pops of colors are lovely with your complexion. I can see this scarf working with a lot.

Thank you.

Purple and green look so good together!

Cross posting from
Autumn winter thread. I didn’t have purple until I threw on my eggplant coat. Headed to some last minute Christmas errands. Happy Saturday everyone!

Lovely! Love the purple coat and the purple lipstick.

Time to ride the Purple Train. All archive photos over the last year or so :happydance:. Spooky purple in Legende Kuna Peuple de Panama twilly. I do wear this on Halloween sometimes.View attachment 4932611
And bright, fun purples in La Source du Pegase, which I wore this Halloween. Don’t those little triangles look like cosmic candy corn? View attachment 4932606Beautiful lilacs and cranberries in Fetês Venitiennes. Oooh, all so beautiful! Never though of Kuna as spooky, but now that you mention it... And, this CW of Fetes Venitiens is sublime, as is the Paperolles... Now that I’ve seen the candy corn triangles, I can’t un-see them! LOL! And, this is one of the best CWs of Tyger, Tyger... so lush and mysterious!

:hugs: Thank you so kindly, dear CanuckBagLover. I appreciate your generous compliment. Yes, my little girl is a domestic longhair with serious Persian breed looks. The wide horizontal face, the large round eyes, the luxurious coat; she definitely has royal blood running through those kitty veins. :hbeat: Her coat is much longer now for that photo was taken just after she was groomed. In full coat, she is part yak . Here she in July, coat growing out, wearing Jungle Love Love twilly. Had to work fast with that shot! View attachment 4932683
She is absolutely precious!

Off-topic, but my actual SOTD is Carre Kantha, keeping me warm in my tundra of an office.

I've been wearing this non-stop lately. It's especially nice that it's preloved; I don't worry about being super careful with it, and I think I'll mostly go preloved on CSGMs from here on out. I love it so much that another CSGM is on its way to me for Christmas, but it's been "In Transit, Arriving Late" for nearly a week now.
This is such a fanulous design! I adore my moussie and long to find either one in another CW or a CSGM... Totally understand that you’re wearing it on repeat...
Can’t wait to see your new CSGM once it arrives... Hope it won’t be long, and that you’ll share it with us

Just popping in to present the love of my life: the special edition Cosmographia Universalis 90 (for the brighter future of Hong Kong). Purple banner so I’m on theme! No connections to get this beauty, just relentless stalking on Vestiaire until I lucked out. (Relentless is a mild word, I really wanted this scarf!) CU is my all time favorite design and I’m so happy to add this scarf to my collection of pastel CU scarves. For fun, I tied all three together :P.
Oh, so beautiful... and, special!
