My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Today's purple is the prune of C'est la Fete. Cozy for this snowy, meeting-free morning.View attachment 4929640
Marvelous! Your sweater looks so warm and cozy, the scarf the perfect foil for it!
Over forty years ago I was a college student spending a semester abroad studying in Vienna. Several nights a week I would head over to either the Staatsoper or Volksoper to get a cheap standing room ticket for that night’s opera. I’m positive that I have seen at least 6 of the 8 operas listed in my SOTD, Fleurs de L’Opera, and who knows, maybe all of them. I figured this was a unique opportunity to get an education in opera, something that was missing from my upbringing in the rural Midwestern United States. My most memorable treat was seeing Wagner’s entire Der Ring des Nibelungen over a four week period.

I have been wanting a beautiful purple scarf since I began collecting Hermes scarves, which is why I finally decided on this colorway for Fleurs de L’Opera. I’m delighted to debut it here during Purple Week.

That is a wonderful story and a gorgeous scarf!
Showing off my moody little DUJA on this rainy morning. I wanted to take a photo in better lighting, but couldn’t resist taking her out of the box to play after I saw Lanit’s stunning moussie. This scarf was a grail for me and I was happy to find her in good used condition for a fair price. The purples are beautiful. While the outside border is a true red, the inside is more burgundy/deep crimson. This is a much better color for me, so I prefer to highlight the middle of the scarf. The purples are, of course, beautiful! I hope one day the DUJA is reissued.... maybe someone from H is reading this
Love it!

A sporty look ... nice!
Thanks, croisette!
I know this is not exactly on topic, but I do think we will be wearing masks for a while... I do wonder if the dedicated theme will be too depressing though.

That is a beautiful mousseline -- I have been looking for some myself. Looks fantastic on you.

Beautiful, rich plum colors!
Thanks, Anna. I felt so lucky when this was reissued last year. The resale market for the previous issue is through the roof!

Thank you, sweet cookie!

SOTD and on theme with Philippe Ledoux’s Promenades de Paris, reimagined this season with a fabulous multi-colored hem. :hbeat: From the internet (Carre de Paris website which has a wonderful write-up about this beloved artist), a few items of interest:

Monsieur Ledoux was born in 1903 in England to French parents. Ledoux began his relationship with the House of Hermès in 1947 and created some 90 designs for their scarves. He was also a book illustrator and loved to sit at a cafe and draw caricatures of the passers-by. He lived in Sheffield, London, France and Rome.
