Ever since bags stock got unusually low in the final few months of 2011, I've found that stores are no longer motivated to search bags for me online. My SA just told me to call around if I want to look for Garden Party or Picotin. Not sure if stores are not willing to let go of bags or if the SAs are getting lazy on calling around.

Please share your experience on store transfer. TIA.

i think the sa's are getting lazy due to being declined so often. when stock shows up on the computer my SA said i would have better luck calling directly myself as the stores with available inventory don't want to transfer/charge send to another store and let them have the sale. it is an unfortunate situation.

I think it is because stock is so low that stores will not swap items out, bags or anything else. My SA found a SLG recently I was looking for, she contacted the store & they said it was on hold or another client & they couldn't release it. My SA rang back 20 minutes later and told them I would come in & collect it personally if they could hold it for 4 days as I don't live anywhere near the store. Suddenly the item became free & they immediately put it aside for me - work that one out!

I know some stores that won't let you purchase anything over the phone if you are not known to them as they don't have enough stock for their regular clients, never mind anyone else

Thanks for all your kind responses. Sounds like the policy varies by merchandise. They are willing to do phone transfers or orders for scarves but not leather goods due to tight supply. SAs are happier to sell you their inventory since it is a low hanging fruit.

I managed to find some nice SAs in the Naples store in Florida and being put on a wait list for a Picotin MM in Tosca. I hope it is a start of a nice long relationship.

I called a particular boutique and found the bag I want, but the SA wouldn't sell it to me on the phone. I had actually bought many items from that particular boutique but my SA there had quit, so I hadn't purchased from there in a while. The SA said I could come in and purchase it or have my "regular" store's SA do charge/ship. I then found it at my own boutique so it was purchased over the phone anyway. I do understand the fraud thing and the demand/supply of H items, but it's still frustrating to those of us who don't live anywhere near a boutique.

A couple days ago my SA called to let me know that she located the Evelyne I wanted at another store and that she could get it for me if I paid immediately via phone. It's now being sent to my local store.

She did tell me that she had found 4 in the last 2 months that met my specs but couldn't get them since the other stores said they were on hold. Who knows if that's true or if they just didn't want to transfer them...

I think sometimes they say they are on hold for a customer just because they don't want to transfer the item out. See my previous post in this thread. As soon as my SA said I'd collect it in person if it became available, it miraculously was available

Very true, Ms Birkin! The same has happened to me too.

My SA had been looking for a Tosca MM Pictoin for me and Charlotte store has only one in the whole country. She was told once that it was on hold and then a few days later that the customer would pick up the next day. The bag was still in the store and in the computer system. When I called the store, they told me flat out that they can't sell it to me via phone. It doesn't make sense unless their bag inventory is so bad that they need something to sit on the display case.

Posted it on another thread but thought someone here would like to know the stores that will still take out of state phone orders:

Wall Street
Florida Naples
Houston
Dallas
Seattle

Feel free to add to the list. Frankly, as a customer paying premium prices for H products, we shouldn't be doing all the phone calls but it seems that that is the way if you want to buy H now.
