If you apply some coconut oil it will be less visible. The alcohol dehydrated the canvas and applying oil will to a certain extent rehydrate it.
You may sell it then buy a new one
A few new bags I had did have stronger smell, wondering if the glue or canvas formula they used caused the smell. Was thinking the same. But i just bought it at full price and it will be sold a lot cheaper due to the damage..so im just keeping it for own use. And plus, i wong be buying a new one cos mine is having a really bad odour, not sure why... I just use it occasionally due to sanitizer and probably that's why. I put dehumidifier inside it and was surprised to see the outcome just after 1 day. So much moisture trapped as if the bag is breathing so heavily. And due to this I don't think I will repurchase the same model or another LV bag anytime soon.

Looking at how much the dehumidifier trapped the moisture i think it is the thick lining that caused the moisture to be trapped inside the bag hence causes the bad odour. It is the smell you get from a closed shoe cabinet, but much worst. I'm afraid sooner it will build up moulds or eventually bacteria.A few new bags I had did have stronger smell, wondering if the glue or canvas formula they used caused the smell.
Perhaps it’s where or how it’s being stored? Are any of your other lv bags having a similar issue? Was thinking the same.
