sales tax from oder from another state?

i have ordered several items (chanel bags, LV bags, cartier watches, clothes) from saks via online and phone orders (when the SA finds it from another store and orders it for me or i call and order it myself directly from the store). i've phone ordered 2 LV suitcases and was never charged the tax. also phone ordered 3 chanel bags and was not charged the tax. in addition, i also phone ordered 2 cartier watches and was not charged the tax. the only time i had to pay tax was when i ordered my fendi spy online, which was last month. shipping is always charged though, whether it was an online or phone order.

the reason why i've chosen to phone order my items in the past (and will continue to do so) was because i knew i wouldn't be charged the tax (think about it...it's ALOT of $$$ considering how expensive these items are!!). the only time i ordered online was because i could not locate the item in any of the saks stores, and i was charged the tax.

I do get charged sales tax when I order using the Saks locator. An SA in my store will locate the item from another store and I get charged tax.

FYI: i phone ordered the chanel luxe bowler bag on july 22 from saks. they did not have the bag in stock, so the SA did a search and found one at saks NY for me. received it yesterday in the mail. checked my receipt and once again, WAS NOT CHARGED TAX!!!!! the only thing extra i was charged was $13 for fedex shipping!!! i do not understand why some of you get charged tax for phone orders and i have NEVER EVER. strange.....
