The opening is inconvenient as theshoulder strapes limits the opening like a drawstring bag so you’ll need to take it off from your should to get something… due to this caveat I’m passing it. Although I think this looks better than niki.

I'm concerned about this, too. Especially with the smaller size. Does anyone own the smaller size? If so, could you please tell me if you find getting in and out hard, due to the chain cinching, while the bag in on the shoulder?

TIA!

I don’t own it but I’ve tried it on. Yes if you really need to dig into the bag and find something than you need to take it off to open the flap wide and search properly. However with the small size there really is not this problem. But because the bag is a big opening the chain strap placement actually acts as a way of tightly securing your contents while the bag is in use so things don’t fall out.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience! If you know exactly what you need to get out, and where it is (e.g. phone, car key, etc...), do you think you can easily reach to it and get it out, without taking off the bag and un-cinching the chain?

Yes I believe so but I’ve only tried the Small so I can’t comment for the other sizes. For the larger sizes I think having stuff in little pouches etc might help you find things quicker.

Thank you! I'm looking into the small size, so your input was very very helpful! Lastly, the website measurement says it's only 8.7" wide, but it looks larger than that in all pictures. I'm guessing 8.7" is only the width of the bottom rectangle, and does not include the sides that stick out. So in reality, it fits a lot more than a typical 8.7" bag. Does this sound about right?

So I ended up getting the small Nolita. It's much roomier than I had imagined. It's not very long but it's wide. And the sides expand quite a bit. The official measurement says it's less than 9 inch long, but it feel more like 10.5 inches. It holds more than my Chanel Reissue 226 (no kidding!).

And I am surprised at how light the chain is. Much lighter than the Reissue chain, which is considered light. But not in a cheap way at all. I wonder if it's made of titanium (does anybody know?)

Like Miss World said, I have no problem accessing the content of the bag while on shoulder, if I don't need to dig in deep.

It's a very pretty bag. Nobody has yet to described it as edgy, but I see edgeness. I used to own a Chanel bag in a very similar design (Diamond Quilt), which was larger but held less (it was MUCH shorter), and heavier. I like Nolita much more. ❤️

One thing I am unsure about is that, it seems YSL seems to have a newer version of Nolita. Mine looks like the one in the pictures Miss World posted at the very beginning of this thread. The chain goes through the flap. The website shows two versions of this bag, the other version does not have the chain go through the flap. My version lifts up the flap a little when you carry with the chain doubled. The new version won't do that. But it's easier to adjust the chain with my version, because you won't have to open the flap to get a hold of the other side of the chain (I hope this makes sense). And mine feels more secure when carrying it crossbody (flap is harder to open because of the chain pressing it down). Also, I want the black, but the newer version does not come in black on the YSL website.

But I am not too crazy in love with the look of the lifted flap when carried with doubled chain. So I don't know. I might return this and wait for the new version to come in black. Decisions decisions

I am thinking about getting the Shearling version of the Nolita. It is much pricier than the average ysl bag though & i am hesitant because i live in an area with a warm climate so it may be silly but i love it.

For those of you who have this bag, have you experienced any problems with the leather YSL logo peeling off or chipping? I'm eying this bag in medium and saw a white version on a pre-loved website. The leather on the logo looked chipped in a couple of places and yet it was labelled as Like New condition. Any information on the wear and tear of the Nolita would be welcomed as I have no YSL bags as of yet but have read about some quality issues for other YSL bags. I really like the look of this bag in the medium. Thanks!

I am considering an ivory or dark beige Medium nolita or medium loulou. See pics below. Such different vibes but both so cute. What do you guys think?

Depends what you're looking for. Lou Lou looks structured & rigid (even though the leather is soft). Nolita takes on multiple personalities and has a sophistication. That color and leather is so unique!

Hi! I just got the medium Nolita with black hardware from the SSENSE sale. This is my first YSL bag, so I'm super nervous and excited! A big concern for me was also how the chain might hinder the bag opening, so I thought I would share my thoughts.

When you double the straps and wear it on your shoulder, it is a bit hard to get stuff in and out of the bag (but this might be because my arms are short). It's less of a problem when you slide the bag down to the crook of your elbow. When the chain is worn long either from the shoulder or crossbody, the cinching pulls the bag upright and gives it more straight structure. The opening is wide enough that you can peek in and look for your things. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the shape is more of a rectangle (straight sides) than a trapezoid (small opening but a wide bottom). For me, it's easier to wear the front strap on my shoulder so that it doesn't get in the way when you try to open the flap. If might be more of an issue if you tend to keep small things floating around. It might not be the most functional, but I just love the way it looks!

Another thing I noticed is how a lot of online pictures are inconsistent with how far down the flap sits on the bag lol. I'm trying to experiment if it will sit higher when there's more stuff inside.

That said, I did notice that the printing on the "Saint Laurent Paris" is a little patchy on some letters. Could anyone tell me if this is normal?

Thanks so much!
