Saggy Bottom

Thanks. This is what they have sent me but I think mine should be 35cm by 9cm which I have got back with them about. This may sound stupid but is it supposed to wedge in between the stitching at the bottom? It currently just lies loose and I don't see the point in this.

Yep, mine wedges underneath the stitching and doesn't move.

No chance of any base making this blighter stand up!!!!!

Hi Tarababe,

I have a similar issue with my gunmetal bayswater made in soft tumbled leather. This poor bag believes itself to be a puddle at every possible opportunity and as you rightly point out a baseshaper does very little for these spineless members of our bag collections.
To try to resolve the issue I've comissioned the long suffering Johnny to create a base with spinal board......it is still in the prototype stage, so I'll keep you posted on design progress.
In the meanwhile, the only other thing to try would be a bag organiser....there are several manufacturers out there including Tintamar, and these from an Etsy seller... http://www.etsy.com/shop/samorga

:smile1:

Hi Moo,

Do you use the etsy bag organisers? I have a tintamar one for my Bays but found it too small (even though it was the VIP Two). The etsy ones look much better to get in an out of, but didn't want to make the same mistake with twice!

Thanks SL x

Johnny is working on an L shaped base, the back of which will (theoretically) sit behind the pocket.....and give the bally thing a backbone. It is the most wonderful leather but just taking the stuffing out and looking at it slumped there irks me.....I struggle with slump! Especially on a design like the bays, which to me should stand up. :wtf:

Hi SL,

No, someone else on the forum posted a link to them and I thought they looked good, so may try one. I have a Tintamar and I know many forum users rate them highly, but I'm afraid they hold no appeal to me at all, so use it for stuffing a slightly slumpy suede bays....:giggles: I like to use pouches in my bags....:smile1:

Very interesting thread - Lady Octavia, my RO Bays, also displays a degree of sag - when I put her down, her front sort of caves in and then she tips backwards and the sides cave in a little also......it also drives me mad as she just won't sit straight unless stuffed to the gunnels with bubblewrap/scarves when not in use, so I will also have to investigate some of these bag liner alternatives, methinks......:thinkin:

It's amazing how the same bag can differ...all my munchkins (SBS) are stiff as anything! Mind you I have all the bags out in the shop to find the stiffest version :giggles:

We need Collonil to invent a Viagra spray for bags....." VIBAGRA apply several light coats for immediate stiffness - lasting for hours........:roflmfao:

Sign me up to the waiting list for this one, Moo! I'm using a clipboard in my soft matte cookie bays but my eggplant and grass green don't need extra support. Let me know when the prototype has passed for manufacturing! ;)

Will do....I have the ridiculous gunmetal shown below and then the maroon leopard sparkle which is foil printed suede (the one stuffed with the tintamar and lots of air pillows) both have significant slumpy tendencies!!
