Hi Pixiedust82, (cute name!)

PRADA?? Wonderful bag...!!Lucky you...

I suggest not to use regular leather cleaner on unfinished leather...they are water based, will get absorbed by the leather which will darken it. Also the problem with most cleaning products is that the pH is usually alkaline, when that gets right into the fibers it causes the leather to get spongy over time (pH damage: a term to describe the chemistry damage).

The only cleaner (and I have had MANY tested ) that won't darken, leaves a stain repellant and WILL pull dirt from UNfinished leathers is Lovin my Bags leather cleaner. It has been formulated specifically for and tested on unfinished leather. It is backed by leather technicians whom you can contact anytime with your leather questions.
You can find it at www.lovinmybags.com .

Hope this helps!
Enjoy your PRADA and all the best...!

Barbara,
You seem to know a lot about leather cleaners, etc. I'm just curious whether or not you work for lovinmybags.com. It's the second time I've seen you recommend it. Someone on the board was banned a few months back b/c they were pushing their product without being forthcoming about their involvement with the company. You seem very helpful and knowledgeable, I wouldn't want anyone to get in trouble.

Thanks....for the warning..:oh:
I do know may people in the leather repair business, I am not directly affiliated with them anymore.

Five years ago ,at 42 I went back to school full time, for 4 years to get a degree in Interior Design. I design leather prints for interior applications, furniture and for handbags. I love leather...

I know many leather products and what they can and can't do...and I guess I am excited at the fact that there is something that can help everyone and a company that is legitimate in their leather knowledge.

I want to help...I guess I dont know how to do that without refering what I know to be a safe place for everyone. I have seen too many bogus repairs done with vynil and cleaners that have destroyed leather furniture and handbags....at $1600-$5000 dollars for a handbag...I would want to know that the people handling them are honest, God fearing people. And these are!
They come out of the Jesus people movement and were Ministers making their living repairing leather so they can preach to the poor, the homeless and the troubled. The people at this company are a husband and wife team that really care.

I still would like to help answer any leather problems that fellow bag lovers have..without mentioning the company unless it is requested....if that is OK?

Sorry again!

Don't worry, you don't have to be sorry. I just know how some people get about that sort of stuff around here. It's hard sometimes to understand what peoples motives are when they post. I'm not saying that yours aren't good at all. I also know how it is when you are excited about being able to help people with their questions. If I knew people who were really good people and had a great business, I would be excited about it too!!
You can always help people with leather questions and problems around here!! That would be very helpful to everyone, I'm sure!
