"S" stamp and employee sale bags

Perigord mentioned this in the above post "In recent years, no more birkins or kellys have been sold at the sales." so i assume that before recently, there were birkins or kellys sold at the sale. I guess it was wrong assumption

My SA said B and K never been on sale (meaning discount) for public.
S was meant for an employees's purchased item.

I'd get time machine for Hermes too... Mostly to g back in 2008 when bags were available easier and I was offered choices of B and K just by walking to any H store. Now economy is getting better and people started buying again...

Just another S to mention. Bought a gator CDC at my local boutique this week, and, like all my other H, I immediately photographed it as soon as I got home. Going thought my photos, looking at the stamps, when I noticed a small S - not the same as a sale S, smaller and maybe a different font, more like the font of the usual markings. It took me a while to figure out that the S was the size of the bracelet. Right?

"s" in the upper left hand corner means size small.

My Kelly has an S stamp next to the Hermes Paris embossing above the turnlock, but no numbers. Does this mean it was sold to an employee? I'm also curious - does anyone know if these S bags have defects? Or are there simply a number of "perfect" bags sold at a discount to employees?

Thank you for your help!

I only saw this today. I have discussed this with my SA. The S on a Birkin or Kelly means they are sold to an employee at H employee sale. Not general public sales. Theoretically, they have some sort of defect one way or the other which caused them not passing the quality control. However, the QA can be very strict so a lot of the "defects" are not always visible to untrained or even trained eyes. My SA bought a sale Birkin and until this day, she and their in-house crafts person have not managed to find the defect(s).

Actually the employee sale stamps are different. The "S" is stamped on all the items at the public sales. Scarves, small leather goods, what have you. In the old, old days, there were Kellys and Birkins at those sales, and other bags as well. They all have the "S" on them, like the white Kelly shown above. Those items are not considered defective, they may have been display items and have some scratches, but no manufacturing defects. Possibly the employees were given priority to buy at those sales.

Employee sale stamps have numbers as well. Not just the "S". Even today, there are still bags, including Kelly and Birkin bags, offered to employees and stamped with an identifying number. Whether they are manufacturing defects I dont know, but I am a doubtful. I suppose it is possible, anything with Hermes is possible.

I don't know the difference of S stamps between general sale or employee sale as I have only seen general public sale stamps (been to a few in Paris myself). But the part my SA told me about employee sale is definitely true. She's the head of bag department in my store. I can't imagine any Bs or Ks will be on sale for the general public these days. Samples are also possible for employee sales I guess.

I dont doubt your SA at all, LOL! Things change all the time at H. What happened before may not be the same today, and vice versa.

Today, anyway, the employee sale stamps look like this one on a recent Kelly. So if ever you see this kind of stamp, you will know.

thank you bababebi! It's interesting the stamp is tonal instead of black so much more discrete!

Hi Ladies

I am in need of your humble opinion. Recently I bid a brand new Kelly 32(which I do not wish to provide further details) from a reputable reseller. I was happy at first since I have been looking for it for sometime. After negotiating the price, I finally agreed and did the wire transfer on the same day. The seller also acted promptly by delivering to my place on the following day.

To my horror, when I opened the package I found out that it had a strange stamping. Apparently it was a STAFF BAG! I immediately contacted the seller and she apologised to me because she did not confirm about it in the first place. I also admitted that I was a bit negligence that actually I did not see the stamping in their photos. Since I was unhappy, I gave the seller 2 options and after negotiating she come out with this; either I returned the bag (I paid for another shipping fee) and they will take USD500 from what I paid or they gave a further discount and refunded me of USD800 that I keep the bag.

Currently I am really torn, whether I should keep it or return. Honestly speaking, I love the bag, esp the color. However, I still could not accept the fact that it really IS a Staff bag. What would happen if I bring the bag to spa for re-conditioning? Esp if a good and long term client brings the staff bag for service?

I need to make a decision by end of the day. Really really appreciate your input.

If you really can't live with the fact it is a staff bag I'd return it.

Someone else here maybe able to confirm but I'm not sure if you can send a staff bag to the h spa. It would be useful to confirm this info before making your decision. Hope this helps.

Is it with a shooting star stamp? If so I'd return it as I heard H would not refurbish it. If the seller never disclosed this most important point, I would expect a full refund- why are they keeping usd400 when they mis-represent in the first place? The most I would pay is the return shipping, just to avoid hassle. Good luck and let us know how it ends up :)
