The other day I had to return something to the mall, and remembered that I needed some more eye cream. And I really like one that I had bought from Clinique, All about eyes rich. So I wandered my way into Macy's and up to the Clinique counter and told the SA what I needed. She must have been new b/c she had to ask where it was and how to ring it up yadda yadda. So she tells me, you also can get a free sample, pick out the color, and pointed to a bunch of eye shadows. So I tell her I want the pink one and she goes to grab it. Another older SA looks at her and goes "What are you doing, she doesn't get a free sample just for buying anything, doesn't look like she wears our products anyways."

(lately I have been just so fed up with rude people, and I'm the kind to shy away from confrontation, and I was so mad I let her have it.)
I just so happened to have my coach makeup case in my bag, with which most of everything in there was Clinique.
So I pull it out and say to her, "It's okay, I think I shop here enough and have enough eye shadows already" and dumped my case on the counter.
She looked at me and immediately told the new SA that she was going on lunch break, and high tailed it out of there.

Was I wrong to be so b**chy???? I guess all of the times I just run away and hide whenever someones rude to me added up and I let it out on her....
But it felt good...... lol

Good for you! I probably would of done the same thing. I used to be so quiet, shy also. My DH is completly different - he loves confronting people. I told him the other day he created a monster (me). We had ordered from a nearby restaurant and the order was messed up. I was all ready to pick up the phone and tell someone off - years ago I wouldn 't of done a thing.

WOW how rude of her! I think you handled it brilliantly! All the makeup girls at my mall are very snooty as well. I mean who would say that to a customer?? Tacky...glad you showed her!

haha, that's awesome, I'm glad you did that. She had no right to be snooty, and who is she to judge what you buy and wear? You called her out on it and made her look stupid, which (in my opinion) she deserved.

And if the new SA wasn't supposed to give you a sample, that's the sort of thing she could have told her after you left. It's just a sample, no skin of their nose, fix the mistake later you know?

Good for you!

Now, no offense if anyone works at Macys but I notice a lot of serious attitude coming from those who work those makeup/fragrance counters. I just don't get why? :shrugs:Seriously it's not like they're rocket scientists working behind there - nothing wrong with it - but definitely nothing to be snooty about either.

You go girl! That was brilliant. That rude SA deserved way more than that. Seriously how rude. If its such a big deal that she offered you a sample she could have said it nicely, im afraid you havent purchased enough or something. But to say you dont look like you use their products?! With that kind of attitude I dont think anyone will.

Good for you for standing up for yourself. I can't believe the nerve of some SAs to say that with you standing RIGHT THERE!! I think you should report this incident to her manager...people should not get away with treating customers like that.

I swear, the ONLY place that maintains good customer service anymore is Nordstrom. I have been to Barney's in SF once and I was also happy with their cosmetics customer service.

NM, Saks, and Macy's are TERRIBLE. Macy's is awful in every department. I refuse to shop there anymore for anything because everyone is rude or completely incompetent :cursing:

I worked at Macy's Part time during winter and summer breaks and lemme tell you, no offense taken! The majority were rude to me too! They then see that I know more about their products than they do and start to kiss ass. I know not all cosmetic sales associates are rude, but the majority that I've had contact with are. I used to be very similar in that I was shy/never would open up my mouth if I was seriously disinterested or if the ladies gave me an attitude. Whelp, that sure as hell changed and now I love riling them up when they cop an attitude with me. :bagslap::noggin::biguns:
