Rolex wearers, any concerns about getting mugged?

I wear mine everywhere (white gold/SS Datejust with diamond markers) but I am wearing long sleeves most of the time. When wearing short sleeves I'm more careful but still wear it.

The only thing I avoid doing is taking it with me on vacation abroad: as a tourist in a foreign country you're always more at risk and I don't want to have to take it off to go through security...

Sad world we live in, isn't it? Work so hard to save up to buy a HG item and then be wary of wearing it? Takes all the joy out of the dream. Funny, I initially felt that way about my Omega (bought 12 years ago) so I ended up getting the diamond markers instead of the bezel like I wanted; however, I am glad now since wearing it NYC, even in the summer on the streets and in the subways, i have yet to have anyone stare at it or approach me. A rolex is a whole 'nother animal though. Since I am aware of them, I do notice other people's watches and get really excited when I see a rolex on someone's wrist. Guess I'll always lust after one.

In daily life I'm no more concerned when wearing my Rolex or Cartier than I am any other time. There are times I don't wear expensive jewelry etc, but for typical travel and daily life I don't feel any more targeted than any other woman with a bag. You need to be aware, but live your life.

And I never remove my watch/jewelry for airport security....and I travel a lot.

ladies ~ don't forget to insure your jewelry.
when my husband was in the hospital this summer, I wore his Rolex every day and never even thought about getting mugged. I honestly don't know what my reaction would be since some creeps broke into my home in 2008 and stole almost all of my jewelry. I hadn't been keeping up with my jewelry rider, so the loss was that much harder to take. I was fortunate that I was out of town and wearing some of my "good stuff", so I still have that. funny, right? I was actually leery about traveling with my jewelry, when I should have been more concerned about the stuff left at home.

Chiming in with a news piece about a man stealing a woman's Rolex at the airport that I recall:

So it's definitely something that can happen, though the circumstance is that the woman forgot it initially. Vigilance!

I've pretty much given up predicting when or if I'm going to set off the security alarms nowadays and normally would just try to walk through without removing any items.
