Rolex wearers, any concerns about getting mugged?

I've had my Rolex for almost 4 years now, and I never take it off when going through airport security. It's never set off any alarms. Maybe because it's stainless steel?

I have never taken my Rolex off going through security either (since 2007), and I have never had to take any jewelry off going through security. My mother flys all the time and she has never had to take any of her jewelry off and she says they don't normally make women take off their jewelry...

I am thinking about upgrading from my omega constellation. Was originally considering a Cartier, but now thinking about a Rolex. I tried on the Lady Datejust (TT with everose), fluted dial with diamond markers (though I kinda liked the smooth bezel too) with the jubilee bracelet; however, I'm concerned that the bracelet would be a dead giveaway that I'm wearing a rolex. Don't want to be afraid to wear my watch on the streets of NYC or on the bus or subway since I would like this to be my everyday watch. Do any of you rolex wearers share the same concerns and, if yes, how do you deal with them?

I have had a Rolex since my mid 20's and pretty much wore in every where. You should always be aware of your surroundings regardless the watch or jewelry you are wearing and honestly I don't think wearing a Rolex makes you more of a target because there are so many watches that look incredibly similar to a Rolex with similar jubilee or oyster style bracelets and so many "expensive looking" watches out there that may or may not actually be expensive. My point is that I think unless you are really familiar with Rolex, it is really hard to tell.

Hmmm, interesting. Since the buckle on my belts make it go off, I am surprised a watch doesn't

Just curious, what other watch brands mimic the rolex look, particularly the jubilee bracelet?

it depends on the area youre in

if i know im gonna be in a shady area (i work in a really bad spot in the city)..i hardly ever wear my blingy, expensive stuff..and i turn my engagement ring towards my inner hand when i am in the front of the office accepting patients since it's so sparkly it grabs attention and i had people grab my hand and ask me questions regarding size/price of the diamond so now i am more cautious

I constantly worry about this :( not for me, but for my little sister. I spoil her with designer goodies and am saving up to buy her a rolex when she graduates uni and this terrifies me! I would hate to be the reason why she is mugged. I guess just be aware of your surroundings and perhaps insure it for peace of mind?

I have also seen Seiko and Citizen watches that have a similar jubilee style bracelet and some others, not sure of the brand. Invicta also makes a lot of watches that look very similar, the ones I have seen have Oyster style bracelets. Michael Kors also has watches that are "designer inspired" and some resemble Rolex.

Thanks, I've checked out Michael Kors and Fossil, also possibilities. Still dreaming of a rolex though...............

Isn't it sad that you feel like you can't enjoy your own watch for fear of being mugged? :( unfortunately in today's society it is definitely a reality but it's so unfair because it's something that belongs to you & you should be able to wear it with pride! I wish I could say just wear it & enjoy it but if that means you may be vulnerable or become a target then I don't want that for you! Keep safe xMMx

I own 2 Rolex watches, one with jubilee bracelet and diamond markers and one with simple dial and oyster bracelet. Just be aware of your surroundings.

I fly a few times a year and I have never had any problem with wearing my Rolex through the airport security. I have never taken my watch off.
