LOL! :p I admit to taking those photos (pulled over, of course!) but I was not quite as excited about the watch as I thought I would (or should) be, so I am moving on. And shortly after receiving that one, my AD finally got in a midsize Yacht-Master, which I tried on and fell madly in love with. I have tried on the silver Date and the blue Date numerous times, and was kind of on the fence. Now I know I will not be doing the blue, as I am very anti-color in my key wardrobe pieces (although I LOVE the blue in theory and on other people), so it's down to the more practical silver dial Date or the more rugged YM with the extra function (the rotating bezel that I would actually use). I think the DJ was too masculine for me, so the Date worries me although it has the oyster band...but still has the same case shape as the DJ. I have totally confused myself, but can't afford to make another misstep.

I totally understand because every time I see someone post a picture of their watch I decide that I want that one!! LOL! I don't know if I'll ever get a decision made! Good luck with honing in on what you want.

I think I told you that I started out trying on a Date Just the same size as what you got (but with oyster band) and the sales lady told me that I needed to get diamond markers on it because otherwise it would look like I was wearing my husband's watch. Well, I'm not sure about that because I wear a lot of big men's watches already, so it wouldn't be anything different. When I saw yours i didn't think it looked masucline or too big, but in the end the only thing that matters is what we think!!

I have both they Yacht and the Date (except my Date has arabic numbers) and I find myself wearing the Yacht a little more, it's a beautiful piece. Sorry for the blurry pictures, they were taken with my cell phone.

Hello,
Bang per buck - the Rolex Date is as good as it gets.
The YM is a great watch - but you pay a heavy premium for the priviledge.

The Date is a great buy on the used market. Personally I would go for a sapphire crystal model. The 6694 - Rolex Manual wind Oysterdate is another contender! Really good value at around $1000-

Don't buy NEW! That is my advice. You will lose money - especially if you flip them as quick as you seem to do!

You know what is really funny? I am this close to buying the same watch as you returned!!

I had thought I wanted a two toned oyster band and realized that I have a Cartier ballon bleu that has a very similar band. I had it on when I was rolex shopping today and realized I would be getting the same look. So that forced me to look at the jubliee band, which now all of a sudden I like.

I was trying on the 36mm and lol was thinking it was the 31 mm! I kept wondering is this large enough??

The only difference was that I am looking at the champagne dial!

lulup, thanks for posting those pics! That is helpful. :D

ssc0619, don't be lulled into a false sense of seduction by that jubilee band! I'm kidding...get what you love! It's funny, though, that you were worried about the Date looking like a man's watch but thought the DJ was small. Go for it!

Please tell me details of the watch that was returned - size, style, color, etc. I enjoy talking to all of you about watches!

Datejust 16234 (36mm), white gold fluted bezel, blue dial with Roman markers, jubilee band. Looked too "manish" on me. I am leaning toward the YM after seeing the pics above. :graucho:
