After trying God knows how many watches last week, I definitely know that I want datejust mid-size and jubilee bracelet with MOP!!! although I can't decide between white MOP 10 diamond dial or white gold dust MOP 10 diamond dial, and after my experience in Geneva I know that the easiest way to decide would be to try them on.

MOP is more expensive but I think it makes a big big difference so it's well worth it

x

Did you try on the pink or black MOP too?

This si probably not apropos to any of you younguns, but I have a Mens Oyster date with salmon dial and being 51, I cannot read the damn watch unless it is in very bright light. If you are young, and won't have the middle age eyes for a long time, I love the salmon dial and think it is gorgeous, subtle and goes with anyhting

These days the only dials I read easily are my 2 Submariners - one in steel, one SS/gold with blue dial.

Even my midsize 18k yellow gold president is getting hard to read. Don't mind me, I'm just whining.

I hope ot soon go to my local reputable Rolex reseller he is an amazing watch fanatic I trust him completely - to trade all my Rolex in for an 18k gold SUbmariner with (probably) black dial.

Thank you for letting me hijack (it's the 2 spectacular glasses of California zinfandel I just had, sorry!)

Here's the one that I got a few months ago. I'm not familiar with names, I just know what I like!

No, sorry as I was looking for white or silver finish. I must admit a pink girl for everything, But for the purchase of my Rolex I rather have more of a neutral colour white or silver.

Also, what I noticed was that some watches looked different against my skin tone (nor fair nor tanned either). the dealer in Geneva told me that you had to take into consideration your skin tone as well as the jelewry you wear on the same hand to see which one stands out more against them.

I think you are going to have to see them to be able to decide.

I just got mine a few days ago and I love it! It is a silver face with roman numerals and 18K white gold bezel. I tried on all of the variations of face colors and markers and chose this one because the combination felt right on me. You should definitely try them all on before making a decision because, as with any piece of jewelry, it's all about how it feels on you!

Thanks for sharing your pic Mineko, it looks pretty on you. I went to try on the pink, silver and white face...but none of them felt right... it just seems to plain on me. I want to try on the pink mother of pearl face but its so hard to see one.

I JUST GOT MY FIRST ROLEX AN OYSTER PERPETUAL. I DECIDED ON THE SILVER THINKING I MIGHT GET SICK OF A SALMON FACE. BUT JUST AN FYI MY HUSBAND NEGOTIATED A PRICE 20% LESS THAN THE STICKER PRICE. SO TRY TO BARGIN

Mineko, congrats! It looks amazing on you!!

Preciousmoment, I think you will really love the mop dial. it definitely added something special for me, it shimmers and sparkles, once I saw it the other faces, although gorgous just werent as exciting to me...I have seen it in pink, I loved it but I wanted white. Call around and see if anyone has it or I think an authorized dealer can order for you to see it before you decide. have Fun!

ur very welcome, preciousmoments! i shopped for mine in Hong Kong, where it seems like there are jewelry stores every 50 ft or so, so i pretty much got to take a look at every model / combination available. if you are near HK or able to go there one day, i would definitely recommend shopping for your rolex there, as you save 8% off the list price + tax free right off the bat!

chanelgirl - thank you!! :shame: i know its chanel blasphemy, but i actually like wearing my datejust now more than my J12 - i think because it is low profile and and doesn't clash when i wear my e-ring.

Wow, very impressive. Did your husband negotiate the price on Rolex steel? I thought if you are paying by cash and buying a gold or platinum Rolex you can get 20% discount but I didn't know you can with Rolex steel.

I was told they have a little more room to negotiate the price on the diamond dials also...They are more expensive and they sell fewer of them then the non diamond dial Rolex...This was what my AD told me but he also said Rolex has become SUPER strict about discounting and if Rolex finds out they can lose their status as an authorized dealer. Obviously some dealers still do discount to make a sale but it has to be kept very down low so they don't get in trouble with Rolex...

Most companies are stricter these days with ADs giving customers discounts. chanel-girl is right, if manufacturers find out ADs sell their watches way below MSRP those ADs could lose their status.

Anyway, I have a Datejust with pink MOP face and arabic numbers. I chose this over the white MOP which had Roman numbers cause I think it had more character. It isn't pink like salmon but is more a light blush color. It still looks neutral and goes with everything, if that's what worries you. I love how it changes colors in diff lighting

It is a little hard to photograph to capture the exact color. I'll try taking more pics so you can see. The second photo is with flash, if I remember correctly.

I've had my watch for 9 years now.It has a jubilee two tone bracelet with mother of pearl and roman numerals on the dial. It's very versatile and goes with almost everything.

This is what I envisage as a 'classic rolex'.

This is the one I want too (although funds may determine that I have to get something else!!).

I was thinking that, as you can change dials and things on Rolex, I may get a Jubilee bracelet (either silver or two tone, I keep changing my mind) and just a silver face with roman numerals and then maybe, when I have more funds, change the dial to a mother of pearl one.

What type of bezel do you have on this?
