I will let you know my opinion of the satchel. Not certain if it has caught on but it looks easy to carry and get into as you said. My major concern is the weight because according to the Nordstrom information online it weighs 2.9 pounds. Usually I try to stay at 2 or so pounds on any new bag I buy. Like you I sold one of my Rogues (which I absolutely loved) due to the weight. I sold it on eBay and made a final sale within 10 minuets of listing it. The reason I did is I did not make any money on it and tried to break even on the bag. If I think the satchel is too heavy I will return it. It should arrive on Wednesday so I look forward to seeing it.
Which size Rogue did you have ? I tried on the medium sized one yesterday and it felt pretty heavy to me . I am like you , I try to stay with 2 lbs . All my bags are in this weight range . I only carry canvas right now . So anything over this is to much for me . Do you happen to know the weight of the Rogue ? I felt it was over 2 lbs for sure . :) But I could be wrong .

To my knowledge the Rouge 25 which I have weighs about 2.2 pounds. The Rogue I sold which was from the original Rogues (medium) weighed about 3.4 pounds. It was just beautiful and I miss it but it was too heavy for me. Unfortunately I have sold many of my Mulberry bags for the same reason. The satchel which should arrive tomorrow is supposed to be about 2.8 pounds.

I also ordered a Saint Laurent Rive Gauche bag and it arrived today. It came from Nordstrom and I will have to phone them tomorrow in regard to some issues with the packaging and other things. I was very disappointed so I will be able to compare the two bags. Since this is more expensive it will be interesting.

I think it would be so beneficial for every handbag site to state the weight of these bags when empty......it's clearly important to a lot of their customers and is a deciding factor on whether or not they purchase the bag.
I know that I love carrying my LV Speedy 25 because it's sooooo lightweight and easy to use.
I see more canvas bags in my future.

I think you are correct ! I wish every handbag designer did this . I just hate a heavy purse :( Oh the speedy 25 is so cute ! I have the 30 which I love . Almost my whole purse collection is canvas ...lol . They just work for me :) On the flip side , everything is brown ....lol . I need some color now . :)

Oh wow , 3.4 lbs is waay to heavy for me :( The 25 was cute but I need more room than it has to offer . Thank you for this info . Please post a picture of your Satchel when it arrives ! Cant wait to see

My satchel did arrive and it is absolutely beautiful but I had to return it due to the weight of the bag. I had ordered two bags and returned both but the other was an SL Rive Gauche bag. I did not like it well enough to pay barely under $2000. In addition, there were significant issues with the packaging and possible tampering of the package. Here is a picture of both sitting side by side and I can say the quality of the Rogue satchel is very, very good. There is no doubt I would have kept it had it not been for the weight of the bag. I think and this is only according to my scales the satchel weighed about 2.9 pounds.
In regard to the weight of the Rogue any bag that is lined with leather is going to weigh more than a cloth lining. Plus the leather of the Rogue was a nice thick leather so this accounts for the weight. I also liked the stitching on the handles, the contrast edge painting and the other extra details. Sorry to have had to return it. The second pictures shows the stitching, quality of leather and the edge painting.

So sorry but hey, whether $500, $800 or $2, 000, if its not love, it'll just sit so better to spend on what you'll really carry!

Thanks for posting the pictures !!!! Both bags look nice . Sorry you had to return :( But I dont blame you . That is still pretty heavy , 2.9 lbs . I really cant take carry a heavy bag at all . I know the beauty sometimes is over whelming and we want to love the bag , but just know we will not carry . Maybe you could find another leather purse thats lighter . :)

Forgot to add, did you look at the Brooklyn carryall ? Its looks pretty nice .

I did look at the Brooklyn and I really like it. In addition, the Drifter is a great looking bag. Does anyone have a preference between these two bags? If so, can you tell me your thoughts? I would have to get the smaller one due to weight but either one looks great in smaller bags. I can't decide if I like one better than the other.

So true but I really did like the Rogue satchel but in the end I knew it would cause back pain and I would put it in the dust cover in my closet. That is just a waste and this is the only bag I am buying this year so I need to make a wise decision.

The Drifter Top Handle is my favorite, most-obsessed over bag (though my medium Rogue is a very close second). It's a smallish medium bag, fits my phone, journal, Rexy pouch, a small makeup bag, small wallet, and my keys. I posted a video review I did on it in the Drifter Clubhouse thread (skip ahead to the second half of the video as the first part is my retelling of how I stumbled onto Coach) if you're interested.

I was not familiar with the drifter so I googled it . From the images I much prefer the Brooklyn . I like double top handle handbags better than one . Plus for me , the front clasp would be a bother . I like quick access when I am pulling something out or putting something into my bag . This is just me of course . I also prefer the shape of the brooklyn . :)

Not sure you know this but there's actually two types of Drifters, one has the single handle and the other one has two (it's called the Drifter Carryall).
