Mini update on my Marine Blue Medium Rodeo

I was very anti-used effect look but after seeing it in person I actually really like it on the blue. It’s subtle to not be distracting but the shift helps break up the uniformity of the color which I think I prefer. I do find the bag easy to get in and out of while I’m out. I think someone had shared a tip to loop the strap though the d-rings to shorten it and I find that with that the crossbody strap sits comfortably on me if I want to be hands free. The top handle is also wide enough for shoulder carry.

Apparently the distressing is done by hand and probably that and the charms are what resulted in this being $1000 more than other medium Rodeos. I don’t know if I can justify that especially since I removed the charms. I’m not sure how they came up with the price for the charms because while they feel weighty I feel like if I’m paying $1000 they should be solid gold. In that sense I threw my money away because the only option of the color and size I wanted had the charms, but I don’t plan on purchasing additional Rodeos (although I will be drooling over other color releases) so I reluctantly sucked it up.

Since I wanted this specific size and color I reached out to a sales assistant who ordered it for me. It’s weird I haven’t seen it hit the Balenciaga website yet but the mini and small are there. Marine Blue as of now seems to be a limited edition color for the season.

Medium comfortably fits a full sized water bottle amongst other essentials which is important to me as we get to the hot summer. I don’t know how you guys manage with your small and minis or are you just used to being dehydrated haha


Not sure if this helps anyone debating a Rodeo but thought I’d share.

The ones with charms seem to charge for the charms as if they were sold-separately, and their charms are pretty expensive for what they are. I got the Balenciaga retail (leather) tag charm which was $550 CAD (I really wanted it but it seemed so overpriced for what it is), and I also got a ring with many charms on it on sale but it was still really pricey (was $2050 CAD before the sale!). The good thing about these charms is that I can use them on my other Balenciaga bags, so I can somewhat justify the prices that way.

Do you have other Balenciaga bags (like the City) to use the charms from our Rodeo on?

Yeah I have other Cities/Works that I love. I can definitely use the charms on those bags and even this Rodeo. To me these Rodeo charms didn’t “speak” to me like I needed them. I’d rather use charms with more personal touch which is why I feel like $1000 was excessive. But since I paid for them I may as well experiment styling them.

It was available on the Balenciaga website but preorder only at Bergdorf. Goodman. It is not yet at the other department stores. I was waiting for it to become available at Bloomingdales because I have rewards.

I saw that Bergdorf had run low on (small black grained with silver hardware) preorder for shipping by 10/8. Then yesterday, the price increased and no more low stock.

This is going to be my first Balenciaga.
