I've been obsessed by the Rodeo since it first launched-I'm embarrassed to confess that although I own a lot of Hermes bags (all pre-owned but a few cost more than the Rodeo) I cannot get my head round paying over 3k for a Balenciaga bag !
Mind you my obsession with the Rodeo is'nt abating so I may end up caving in.
Why is that? Quality? The rodeo is exxy but also not so when compared to other similar - Andiamo is $7.5kaud for medium, Prada buckle bag is $8k, Loewe Madrid is nearly $9k. So the rodeo seems fairly well priced considering. Would love to hear others thoughts!

Quality mainly-as the bags are somewhat mass produced I question that.
And Hermes has the spa service so no matter how old the bag is you can get any fixes done at a price.
I don't purchase with resale in mind because I do keep my bags (and clothes) for ages and I still drag out bags I brought in the early 2000's when the mood takes me.
spending over 2.5k on a brand other than Hermes I like to be certain of the quality of their bags.
Brands like Celine,Gucci,Loewe for example have a history of producing leathergoods.
Balenciaga does not.

I've had quite a few H bags in my collection and of course H quality is the best. However, I frequently want a style that's not what H offers, or a bag that I don't mind knocking around, or something that is more UTR.

I bought my Rodeo to replace a Kelly that I almost never carried anymore because of a number of design issues specific to how I used the bag. Is the Rodeo the same construction or leather quality of the Kelly? No. Does it need to be since it's less than 1/3 the price of the Kelly? No. It is however extremely well made, well designed, and I don't expect to need service in the foreseeable future. If I do I expect that Bal will service it.

I've had it a year and in that time have used it more than the former Kelly was used in >5 years. Cost per wear clearly shows it's a better choice for me.

I so wish more brands had a spa service, that’s been my biggest hurdle to purchasing the rodeo - particularly if hardware needs replacing.

Hermes is the pinnacle of craft - but do you think the Rodeo make and leather quality less than other equivalent brands like Prada, Loewe, Gucci etc?

The Rodeo leather quality is higher than any Prada bag I own, and higher than most of the Gucci bags that I have owned. What actually really got me with the Rodeo was how nice the leather was, which was surprising in my Balenciaga experience because the newer Arena leather is heavily refinished, and other leathers like on the Neo Classic styles feel plasticky (also heavily re-finished). The Rodeo leather was so much thicker and more supple than the other Balenciaga leathers. The edge-dying job is very well done, too.

I did post a video and I talk about how soft the leather is on the Cowboy Rodeo. If you want to take a look at it, here's the link

Hopefully it's allowed. The leather on the Cowboy is absolutely amazing. It's very different from my black Rodeo small though.
