I'll draw and post a lil pic of the bead things I mean, then you can copy it and take it to your jeweller if you like!!
First though, these are'nt designed to reduce ring size, and can require a lil wriggling to get the ring on and off,but as your finger isn't actually round, more oval with fleshy sides it can be wriggled on and off as opposed to just a whole size smaller shank,it gives you a bit of,um,leeway to move?? Best way I can describe it without fitting one on you in person.Once its in place it should'nt slip, and it can give that bit of extra space if your finger does increase in size when its warm without feeling constricted.

Ok,here are the pics!! Sorry for my rubbish drawings, but you'll get the idea anyway!!

Nice art work Chaz. Is that comfortable? Is it like wearing braces? You can't help but feel them in your mouth? LOL!

Venus, you are aware of them a lil bit at first,I road tested one for a couple of days to make sure that I was endorsing the right thing to ladies who had trouble with rings slipping around, and after a bit,you really don't notice it.It certainly isn't uncomfortable,as the lil 'beads' sit in the soft part of your finger almost right underneath, and as I mentioned in the pics, sometimes it takes a coupe of goes to get the beads just right, but its simple enough, they are just gently filed so they are a comfy fit.
I really have to point out though I did masses of these for ladies through the workshop, but a couple never got on with them, and eventually the ring shank itsself was made more oval to counter the slipping about, not as good as the beads, but it worked ok for the ladies who could'nt get along with them.

Rasberry!! What are you talkin about!! You got a whopper!! Your avatar is beautiful!!! I love seeing it about and having a good old stare and a drool!!!!!!!xxxxxxxxx

I have had sizing beads before and they were very comfortable to me...at least on my left hand. I am right handed and when worn on the right it was a bit more noticeable, but nothing terrible.

semi loose.......my rings used to be a 5.5 and they got super tight when I gained 20 lbs. I had them resized to 6 and now they are great. They are a tad loose in winter but not enough to fall off and perfect in summer when it's hot.

You can have tiny little bobbles soldered into your ring shanks to stop that,I had it done for so many ladies who have large knuckles but a very dainty finger size, and the weight of the stone pulls the ring over. But the ring can go no smaller if she wanted to at least get in on.

Chaz,

Thanks so much for that info - I will have to investigate having it done. I have the same problem others have mentioned, the knuckle is so much larger than where the rings sit, that if I had my rings sized to fit my finger there is no way I could get them over the :cursing: knuckle. I keep having to re-align my rings easily a dozen times every day. Drives me crazy! I'll look into it for sure.

those are soo cute! i would feel odd wearing balls on my fingers lol..

is there a downfall in sizing your ring twice a year for the seasons? or sizing your ring in general? i dont really worry about it because i can always get mine replaced.

I like mine to fit semi-loose, but with this new Raven-tries-to-hide-the-sun" ring I got for my right ring finger, the fit was very loose. In fact, I was able to fling it off once after vigorously shaking my hand. It would twist around, also. I debated for months whether to go back and have it cut down and re-sized, but was reluctant and the ring maker originally told me that he fabricated "whole," originally and didn't have to join two ends to make a "ring." Then I saw the idea of the sizing beads on this forum and went back to him and asked him to place a couple of them at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions on the inner rim. He did, and the ring fits better. At first, for the first day or so, there was some mild discomfort/annoyance, but it has now largely dissipated, and most of time I am unaware of the rings presence on my finger. I believe it's now in the "semi-loose" category and I certainly cannot, any longer, fling it off no matter how long or vigorously I shake my hand. I really appreciate getting the info. to do this on this forum...

I used to be paranoid about having fat fingers if (in warm weather), my fingers were to expand while wearing a ring, and then I wouldn't be able to get it off. Then, one time, a ring I was wearing fell straight down the drain of a restroom sink at La Madeline's. After that, I started getting my rings sized a bit tighter, i.e. "semi-loose" according to the rating scale of this thread.

I think it's best to wear a ring size that doesn't slip right off your knuckle...thus preventing my accident while washing my hands.

i voted semi tight - im a k which i think is a 5.5 ... but in the morning its semi tight and by the end of the day its looser (it swings around on my finger) ... its really odd!
