Actually I have several original NYC Duffles, with the original strap, and I double the strap all the time to wear more like a hobo. Takes a bit of pushing, but it works. So i can't imagine the newer remake wont work, since the strap has to be thinner than the original thick NYC straps!!! now i'm curious though.
I don't have one now but I had a couple in the past. The straps were pretty short to begin with. I can't imagine doubling them. Here is a picture of the original. The strap is so much shorter than this version.

I have the shoulder sac which is a slimmer version of the duffle sac. It has a much longer strap than the duffle sac. It is very difficult to double the strap but when I tried it, it is almost too short.

I used to double the strap on my other duffles and on the longest setting, it was a comfortable drop. This one though, if you double it and have it on the longest setting the bag sits way too high and is almost directly in the arm pit area. The prong is even too short and barely pokes through the eyelet on the top strap. I think that if Coach meant for it to be doubled, they would have included the instruction card for doubling the strap and made the leather thinner and buckle more accommodating. Personally, I would rather have the thick, sturdy strap that this bag came with rather than a thinner one with a modified buckle so the strap could be easily be doubled.

My 1941 duffle (Tabac/Carmine) just arrived and it's gorgeous!!

I'm wondering though...the leather though super soft seems a bit stiff at the same time. I'm hoping you ladies can reassure me that the leather on my new duffle with soften with use? I'd love for it to get a good slouch going!!

Yes!! It does soften. Mine is starting to have "memory slouch" (if that makes sense). I can pick it up and it slouches towards the front. Also, it is durable! My 65 lb. Lab accidentally trampled on it in the passenger seat and there is no scratches from her on it.

Fantastic, thanks!! That's hilarious about your dog, and good to know too - I'm sure my little dog will step on mine at some point :)

I mayyy have been wearing the bag around the house for the past hour in the hopes of hastening the slouching process :amuse:

Very nice! It looks lighter than it does online. Do you think your 2nd pic is the most accurate color wise?
Yes, I would say the 2nd pic is the most accurate. I took that in the natural light coming in from the bedroom window. I agree it's a bit lighter than the pics on the website, but I'm hoping it'll get a nice smooshy patina going on the more I use it. Gonna carry it out downtown tonight!

Goofydes - sorry to inadvertently hijack your thread!! Your reveal pushed me over the edge to order my own duffle...so I owe you one :)

No problem! Glad I was able to help you make a great decision:graucho: I think the one thing I like most about this bag is that since it is lined in leather everytime I open it I get a tiny whiff of that delicious leather smell.

I feel the same way about my Nomads. The leather lining is really special. Never thought I'd find myself fondling the INSIDE of my bags! :D

The cashier at the supermarket gave me a funny look this morning when I went to take out my wallet and inadvertently stuck my face in there and gave it a good sniff, lol! Then I explained the bag is lined in leather and smells good every time I open it, then she agreed she would be shoving her face in there to sniff it too.
