Cute! Actually, I saw a lady today with a canvas tote that said "My other bag is a Birkin" and I thought for a second it would be funny to have the Birkin on one arm and that funny tote on the other as a grocery bag (since the joke is supposed to be that the person doesn't have a Birkin). But then I realized that it is only funny for 1 second and then it is annoying!
I am fine with canvas bags though in general, because I am able to wash my current canvas grocery bags with no issues, I was just looking for something a little more nice looking [emoji4]

Gotcha, and I totally agree about the Birkin remark, no way would it look cool to be carrying a Birkin and have the tote that says "My other bag is a Birkin". Way too pretentious for me.
On the other hand, I couldn't care less what my grocery or disposable bag looks like. I toss it in my cart to cushion my bag and then I pull it out when I check out.

Fair enough! Kudos to you for using one in any case.

I use the Apolis Market tote to hold my groceries. It is handheld only, though. But they do have the Garden tote (slightly smaller than the Market tote) that has 6 exterior pockets and long strap. It can't be thrown in the washing machine but it's made out of jute and the interior has a waterproof PVC coating. Very easy to clean.

Yes! I love the garden tote! Thanks.

Bummer! Out of stock! Let me know if you find a link for one for sale by any chance.

Last time in WA, was told needed to pay extra to have items in paper sacks.

I sort of had 1 of my famous "Oh, h€ll no," moments.
And bought a plastic cooler.
Then used that for whole trip.

"Ring up the stuff in my ugly, huge cooler. Which I've dragged into your shop. And am wheeling around in this cart. Because I refuse to buy your sacks."
Donated it before flying home.

Cooler = fashion tragic.
But, my handbag was awesome. ;)

Haha! That's hilarious! [emoji12]

I am the OP. Thanks to everyone's suggestions, I found a couple that I am going to try. I ordered a leather baggu sack bag (not washable, but very cute).

As another option, this is currently out of stock in the color combos I like, but I contacted the shop and they will call me when more colors are available again. I had never heard of this brand, but I saw a woman walking down the street and asked her about the bag she was carrying. It is a washable, reversible canvas bag with leather straps by a small designer in the Bay Area named Ali Golden. I want the one in the shop's Facebook photo in the middle (it is both middle bags - green on one side and reversible to the stripes).

I must have a completely different concept of grocery shopping from everyone else here.

This is what fits in my incredibly uncool and unfashionable reusable grocery bag:
1L milk
750ml chocolate milk
1 carton of egg whites
2 - 2lb containers of grape tomatoes
1L Coffee Mate
1kg coffee beans
6 peppers
1 bag of salad
2 packages of cooked chicken breasts
package of muntendrop (yum)

Oh and it was like $6.00
However, if you want cute and foldable, I echo the others who mentioned envirosax.

I totally get it, it probably seems silly. Grocery totes should be functional, they don't have to look good. However, doesn't that apply to handbags in general? So if we want a handbag that is functional and also looks nice, why can't we ask the same of our grocery totes?
So that it makes a bit more sense (I am the OP), let me explain that I go to the grocery store a lot, at least 5 days per week, and my job puts me on the road half of the week with time to burn in between appointments with clients. I usually go to the local co-op grocery store to buy my lunch from their deli and pick up a few ingredients for dinner at the same time. This co-op has a nice cafe seating area with a coffee shop area, newspapers, tables, people hanging out and eating lunch. So I am there at a table eating lunch half of the week with my nice handbag on half of the table and my ugly plastic grocery bag on the other half. I just wanted to get something that I liked looking at a bit more.

I really like Food52's kitchen and grocery stuff and they have quite a few nice options for grocery bags:

Handy compartments for the little things: https://food52.com/shop/products/946-waxed-tote-bag

Love this orange hue: https://food52.com/shop/products/1102-canvas-a-frame-tote

Or a really cute woven basket-like one: https://food52.com/shop/products/2252-french-market-tote

This is great! I really love the Waxed Tote Bag with leather handles and pockets in the first link!

Wow...those are too nice for groceries.

I use these. They are FABULOUS.
Very well made and strangers always ask me where I purchased them.
