Retourne vs. Sellier Kellys

Can anyone comment on the differences between epsom and chèvre in sellier? I find my epsom sellier very difficult to get into and the top under the handle is almost “bent” looking. My assumption is that chèvre will be slightly softer and easier to get into but looking for comments!

I would like to know this too! Thanks

I happen to have two k25 in similar colors. The retourne on the left is Fauve BF and the sellier on the right is gold Epsom.

When I first started buying H, I was adamant that I would only buy the sellier style, as it is “how a Kelly should be” to me. Retourne would make the Kelly too casual, I thought.

Fast forward two years, I have k25 in both sellier and retourne, and I can tell you they are both wonderful bags. Very different vibes.

The retourne is delightful to use, but it is more casual.

One of my favourite photos showcasing Madonna and her Kelly. It’s a vintage 32 and adore the way the relaxed retourner softens her ‘prim’ outfit. View attachment 4944972

There is very little difference in terms of how easy or difficult they are to use. Epsom and chèvre sellier in 25 would be about the same. Now retourné in togo is a lot more user friendly. Ultimately I think the sellier kelly is a 'proper' lady bag, and I like @miss mitzi thought it was the only one of interest. In real life I use retourné much more. I also like vintage box retourné (photo attached) as you get the ease of retourné with the structure and formality of box.

I have K25’s in sellier epsom and chevre, as well as togo retourne. The retourne definitely is more casual and easier to use no doubt. But the sellier is more elegant and formal looking. I find my K25 chevre softer and much lighter. It doesnt have that much of a difference in terms of ease of use with the epsom except that I find my chevre less prone to scratches.

I felt the same way, I now have both Epsom Sellier and a Retourne. I love the Sellier but I use the Retourne so much more. I am open to trying the Chèvre Sellier and if it is slightly softer it might be that happy medium I am looking for 🤔

May i ask, when it comes to colour transfer, is retourne more prone then sellier?
Thank you
I have both sellier and retourne, and I don’t think it matters. A lighter color would perhaps be more prone to color transfer,
But this is avoidable if one makes sure dark denim or fabric is rendered color safe.

I second @880.

In my experience, the type of leather might matter too. I have only had color transfer problem with my Halzan bag, which is in Clemence leather and the color “Sun”. Sun is a saturated bright yellow, not a light pastel color, but somehow had color transfer issue.
