I always hate the whole LV is better then coach ideal. I don't understand the allure of the LV monogram or the damier, or the plastic looking veneer fabric. I will admit to me liking the epi and thinking the groom idea was cute, just not the background, becuase it is so different then the usual LVs, like the perfo?! I don't understand the beauty in that. But thats just my opinion, even though I am with my opinion I'm not trying to slight those with a love affair for LV (even though that is so contridictory I know! but I don;t know how else to put it). I at the time only have one evening coach bag, but I have accessories from them that I'd rather have instead of an LV. I'll buy from coach, balanciaga, marc jacobs, salvatore ferragamo, pucci, free goodies, vintage finds, WHATEVER as long as I like it, not becuase of the brand or the status it connotates.

for instance, I'm getting my first bbag, and I plan to deck it out with a pucci cosmetic case, coach wristlet and maybe scarf, vintage coin purse from etsy, freebee small cosmetic case from estee lauder (carry this religiously at school!) and my mj wallet. because it just appeals to me.

ITA! No one should say anything about what you can afford except for you!

BTW - I'm the same way with bags.. I have tons because I get bored too, and really.... all girls need variety in life! So why not have many different styles/colors of bags? ;)

^^Oh yes theres definetly a heirarchy.
But I zigzag through them as time goes on.

and coach is mocked at through this forum, I remember last night reading a thread on how girls want to sell their coach, which is fine, I do my fair share of selling as well, but only because they want LV and because the quality is better then coach, laughing at the brand. Then I read threads how girls are worried if they take their faulty bags back to LV, how many threads have there been on this topic! Whereas coach takes them, replaces them when they can, overnights them, gives you 25 or 40% off next purchase.

I hate how some think that if you don't like LV, then that means you can't afford it. I actually had this conversation yesterday, about my salvatore ferragamo purse to my friend a LV afficiando. And she was telling me I should go return it and get a cles at least if I can't afford a actual bag. And I'm like honey, I can foot the bill on whatever i like, not just on status. If I didn't get comments like that periodically I would have already gotten the zippy wallet in epi I was eyeing. I'm thinking maybe I'll stick with a bal or chanel.

i think the hierarchy is a bit screwy...but, hey, what do i know?

i swear, once i graduate and a get a job, i'll be all over tpf. :nuts:

i fully intend to buy a little from every brand, at some point...even if just accessories, should bags not appeal to me.

I was going to mention that extact thread! As if the person just had to get rid of her coach bags because once she had a LV...the coach bags just don't compare or something! I'll admit, even though I love Coach...some of the stuff is just ugly! But so are some of LVs! I think the new miroir line is hideous but some people are in love with it?! Why can't people just respect that people have different tastes without hating on them? I'm so sick of all the Coach bashing!!!

The Resort collection reminds me of Gucci's. The only piece I did like was the wrislet though.

Coach's price has steadily increased but so have everyone else's. Speaking of LV, they just had a price increase within this last month or so AND there is another one coming in Feb 2007. So you many still come out the same (in terms of $$$).

oooh. i remember that thread, too...makes me kinda sad. like, somehow once you've "moved on" to lv, your once beloved coach is now crap...

and EVERY designer has some FUGLY bags- and coach is certainly no exception.

i hate how people assume that once you own LV you should never go 'down'. whatever. and i also hate how people assume that if you don't buy something, it's because you can't afford it...half of the people max their credit cards to keep up with the joneses and 'insert-tpf-username', or whoever else. i don't buy chanel because i don't like it. i don't buy hermes because i don't like it. i don't buy balenciaga because i don't like it. and i imagine that there's several people who don't buy LV because they don't like it. i don't talk about others spending habits but it's amazing how people love to make assumptions about others. and it's really quite ridiculous how people PM others because they made an off-based assumption (sorry to hear about your situation, kallison). i hate how everyone feels they must put their beliefs on to you.

to me...i love to be able to have a bag that i can carry to classes/work in the rain/snow and not have to worry about stupid vachetta staining. i love all my bags REGARDLESS of the price. i don't buy a LV just because it's LV, or any other bag for that matter. I buy what appeals to me.

lately i've been buying a lot more coach. yeah, i've realized that the 3 items i just bought could have been one LV. oh well. i bought a lot of my LV when coach was going through it's fugly (in my opinion!) phase...the bubbles, the fish, the bumblebees, scribble...to me all that mess was fug. but i never stopped liking coach...everybody has fug designs (lv cherry blossom, lv groom, etc!).

Anyways, i have forgotten what the daggone point of my post was going to be...

Personally, I would choose Coach over LV just because I don't like all the logos. I hate to see the Coach prices creep up but the quality has been excellent in the past.
Also, Kalllison, I am so sorry you got those PMs! I buy a variety of bags because it is my choice!

I think it's crazy this one is better than the other BS. I buy what I like, and while that happens to be mostly Coach and LV vernis/epi stuff (not a fan of the faked mono stuff either :D), price doesn't matter. If it is something I like (within reason! I have yet to spend more than $500-600 on a handbag yet), I will find a way to get it, like kallison said. Heck, I bought a $60 bag at Dillard's the other day (Kate Landry, never heard of her .. but it was 75% off!) and I am loving it just as much as my other bags.

Back to topic ... I think the resort is cute! Don't know if I'll get anything though.
