Hi, Since my preowned three stone ring had the serial number on the inside of the band, Tiffany's looked up the number on their computer when I took it in from service. I did not disclose to them that I had purchased it elsewhere. I simply told them that it was gifted to me. My ring was older so the stones did not have the T & Co. serial numbers on them. They were called "Heritage" stones (stones without serial numbers). They printed out a piece of paper and gave it to me which simply had the serial number of the original ring, heritage stone and the color and clarity grading. There was no information in the computer about the sides stones that were being made into my new earrings but the operations manager who assisted me guessed on the color and clarity based on Tiffany's protocol for three stone rings. They did not require a diamond certificate. They took my ring, all my information and sent it to NYC. Once it had been authenticated in NYC, I received an email with the pricing for my new ring and earrings. I had to reply to the email to confirm that I wanted them to proceed with the work. The whole process took less than six weeks. Everyone I dealt with, both in the store and on the phone with customer service (I called to see if I could pay for valuations which was not an option), was very professional and helpful throughout the process! So far, it appears that despite being under new ownership, they are continuing the tradition of Tiffany's excellent customer service.Hi OP, I know this is an older thread but I was wondering what paperwork Tiffany required for the pre-owned ring before resetting it? Did they need the original diamond certificate and paperwork or would proof of purchase from where I purchase be enough? I’m considering a pre-owned 3-stone ring but would love a different setting to use as a RHR and looking less like an ER. Thank you, I appreciate any insight!
Thank you so much, this has been super helpful. I actually live near the NYC store so I’ll stop in once I have the ring in hand. I’ll def keep you updated on my project.Hi, Since my preowned three stone ring had the serial number on the inside of the band, Tiffany's looked up the number on their computer when I took it in from service. FYI, if you are not the original owner, they will not issue valuation reports for new pieces. I had to take the new ring and earrings to another jeweler to have them appraised.
I hope this information helps you. Please note that since being acquired by LV, their policies and prices seem to be changing. It's been almost a year since I requested my project which was during the first year of new ownership.
Good luck! Please share your experience on this post.
You’re welcome! What setting are you thinking about resetting the stone into?Thank you so much, this has been super helpful. I actually live near the NYC store so I’ll stop in once I have the ring in hand. I’ll def keep you updated on my project.
