Personalization can be removed. Contact Goyard. I know, because I just had it done. Good luck.

Hey FrenchBulldog - glad to see that you had your personalization removed. Till to-date, the SA at Singapore boutique still insisted to me that the stripes cannot be removed without damaging the underneath goyardine canvas! I am very puzzled why such different advice....

Hello goyard lovers,

I was hoping if you guys can help me out. I found an amazing pre loved goyard st louis gm in white at such a good deal and the bag is in pristine condition as well. The only downside is that the previous owner had his/her initials painted on it and stripes as well. The stripes I dont mind its more the initials, but if I can completely remove both then thats better. I was wondering if anyone can suggest what I can do or product/s I can use to remove them without harming the goyard canvas. Please help.

Thank you very much.

John

I had initials removed because they were put on by BG crooked (therefore no charge to me). It was redone in the same place and now the initials are peeling a little. The Goyardine is fine but the area was compromised.

Have them removed but don't put your own initials in the same spot. BTW my bag was black.

i wanted something removed from a yellow wallet and was told that they no longer remove personalizations by the nyc boutique. it may have been because of the light color of the wallet and the dark personalization. i said i didn't care if the area was compromised and they still wouldn't do it.

My personalization was botched and had to be redone. However, because this allowed me a first hand glimpse of how funky the personalization looks when starting to peel, chip, etc., I requested the stripes be removed with only the initials remaining. They told me that it could compromise the integrity of the Chevron, but I explained to them that I would take that chance and that had my personalization been done correctly in the first place, I would not be in this position. I also told them if the bag was damaged in any way, I wanted a replacement. Suffice to say the stripes were removed with no damage whatsoever and as I was told by a manager in Beverly Hills, removing the paint is a tedious process that takes a bit longer. I was also told that usually Goyard charges $165.00. Good luck.

Both things you have heard are correct! Goyard CAN remove personalization AND it is possible for the handpainting underneath to be damaged but it won’t necessarily be damaged underneath.

Do not try to remove the stripes or initials yourself; just pay Goyard to do it.
If...IF...the hand painted pattern underneath gets damaged in the removal (it might not) then you can also pay a separate fee to have the pattern repainted.

Only makes sense to do that though if you’re not replacing the old personalization with your own colors.

I have my eye on a pre-loved St. Louis tote. Unfortunately, the tote has a red stripe with initials running down the front. I would love to remove the stripe and initials. I've heard that the Goyard boutique will remove it for $250. But does anyone know if Goyard requires a receipt before it will remove the personalization? Obviously, I will not have a receipt from the Goyard boutique as the bag is preowned.

John, if it were me, before I made a decision, I would 1) find out when that Goyard was made/painted and 2) call a Goyard boutique and ask them to be sure. There could be a safe way to remove it. Goyard may be able to do it. The other place you can call is Rago Brothers in Morristown, New Jersey. The do AMAZING restorations of handbags and purses. They recently restored my very first Gucci which my parents gave me in high school (in the 80's)!!! Google them. Call them, and see if they do that kind of work. Don't give up until you talk to the experts. Good luck!

I see a beautiful white PM tote in a consignment store but the original owner had it customized a yellow piping and their initials added. I love the yellow piping, however don't want someone else's name on my bag. Based on the information provided in this thread, it is possible to ask Goyard to remove the initials? I am based in New York.
