Great job bringing these beautiful classics back to life!! I love the grey Basic bag and smiled at the outlet bullseye in the zippered pouch. Could you imagine finding one of these babies NWT at the outlets nowadays?

Your thread reminds me that I have a few vintage projects in various stages of completion. Now that winter's here and semi-hibernation sets in, I should finish some of these.

I was surprised to see the bullet inside the pouch, too! I guess Coach has used that symbol to indicate deleted bags for a long time! It really would be something to find one of these bags NWT at the outlet!

The brown bag is the 9063 Legacy satchel and it has really soft, thick leather! Hyacinth provided a stock photo of the bag in a camel color, see attached.

You did a wonderful job making these bags look new again! Ahhhh, how I remember that thick, gorgeous leather on old Coach bags... (sigh)

Love the gray bag, but all of them are quite lovely! Congrats!

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys!

I like rehabbing older bags because they are beautiful and well-made and it gives them a second chance as useful, lovely objects. I never understand people who are comfortable abusing beautifully-crafted objects. Although these bags were not abused, they were just worn and needed some TLC.

When I was young, it was popular for rock musicians to smash their instruments at the end of a performance - while the crowd cheered wildly! Even in my "crazy, hippie youth" I could never understand why someone would destroy a beautiful, expensive guitar!

And it's nice to know that people can enjoy carrying a lovely designer bag even if they can't afford to purchase the latest boutique styles - as long as they don't mind the vintage look, although I understand that vintage isn't to everyone's tastes.

We went out to dinner last night and I saw a woman walk in carrying a Coach City Bag in gorgeous condition. It looked great on her and I am sure that she loves carrying it! If I ever have to stop buying newer Coach bags I will be sad but I would prefer to carry my older bags rather than cheaply made no-name bags!

Thanks! My husband also likes the gray bag the best of the bunch!

DemRam kindly provided the attached catalog picture and identified it as a Basic Bag probably from the early 1980s; so it is the oldest bag in the group but it has really held up very well!

It must have come in multiple colors because Momtok recently did a rehab reveal of this bag in brown and it looks great! See the link below:

They all look fabulous! The Legacy Satchel is my favorite - you don't find many of those in Brown, and that bag has a ton of room inside. The gray bag is unusual in that Coach didn't make many bags in Gray and it's a hard color to find. And I always love Willises in any color.

Enjoy your "new" treasures!

That's funny because I keep going back and forth between the Legacy Satchel and the Willis bag as my favorite!

I think the Willis is my favorite because I just love it's classic beauty but the Legacy Satchel is great, too. They leather is so thick and soft and I think it looks a bit more contemporary with all the straps and buckles and the "slightly slouchy" shape.

The Basic bag is my first gray Coach bag and I love it's simple beauty. Thanks again!

Thank you for posting the before & after pictures!! I've been wanting to work on my very first Coach back from the late 80's (British Tan), but have to read up on how everyone have done it & pick a weekend to do it!! You've definitely inspired me to work on my old purses!!

katev--I think you did a MAGNIFICENT job on your rehab bags. The Willis looks fresh off a store display--you really made her look lovely. She's a beautiful and classic coach bag--now I feel motivated to work on my willis bags. I have the one you revealed here as well as an elongated "city willis" with silver hardware.

Anyways, enjoy the fruits of your concerted labors! Your rehabs are stunning. :ps:
