Wearing a grey suit with a white shirt accessorised by a red handbag and matching shoes is my interview suit - my current boss has told me it made me memorable as everyone else had combinations of brown/black.

It also depends on the style of your red bag.

My choices are:

Given a casual red bag, denim+sweater of any neutral color, denim+shirt of any neutral color, denim+floral top...

Given a dressy red bag, ...unfortunately I would just choose black, white, gray, cream, ...all the safe colors. But it's just me.

And for both cases, you can always add a little accent to your outfit by wearing a red belt or a red cuff, or some red pedant, charm, earings, etc.
