Honestly its better if you dont start or you wont stop lol. Gucci could be a good starter bag. I know they have some designs without the GG. If chanel was not expensive now adays it would have been a good brand. I hope your first high end bag is from thr store just so you can try it. I remember howhappy I am after I walked out LV with my very first high end bag.
 good memories. Closest store is 2 hrs away so I won’t be getting to try it on first. The prices have gone up a lot over the years! Many of the bags I’m looking at were half the cost in the 2010s….

Edit - regarding Gucci, I loved the Jackie and the horsebit styles. In the end I thought it just wasn’t as versatile for some of my outfits due to the ladylike / slightly equestrian vibes.

The nano luggage is very comfy worn crossbody. That’s how I wear it 95% of the time. I carry it top handle for a dressier vibe. I own the souris color but black with gold hardware is on my wishlist.

I agree that the nano luggage is comfy. I wear it like this all the time and it can fit a kindle, cosmetic pouch, wallet and small water bottle. It's a Hermione bag. I also own the souris and with my pochette metis in bleu nacre it's my most used and loved bag.
The nano luggage was a top contender . In the end I wanted a more neutral style for my first bag, and one that looked slightly dressier. I was strongly considering though and esp love it in black.

I just ordered the Sac de Jour nano!!!!

In black grained leather. I am in shock a bit because I have never spent so much money on a bag. I did order the bag secondhand in excellent condition and had it authenticated first.

After a lot of thought I decided on the SdJ due to the timeless and classic look. I didn’t think it would be dated in ten years or look out of place as I age.

I also needed a bag I could wear crossbody comfortably, but also detach the straps and hold by a top handle. I thought this bag would look good both with jeans and a tshirt, or an evening dress.

Black pebbled leather seemed durable, and the metal feet were definitely a pro for me!

This bag seemed a good size for my daily essentials. I am hoping the accordion sides and open top will make it a bit more forgiving if I’m out and need to squeeze in a medium size item.

A couple cons are no top closure and potentially awkward placement of the crossbody strap attachments near the top handles on the bag.

I cannot wait for the bag to arrive!

I was also strongly considering Celine nano belt, Celine nano luggage, Gucci soho disco, and Gucci Jackie 1961.

Thank you for all of the recommendations!! <3 The sac de jour was not even on my radar before I made this thread.

Ysl is good brand too! I only have one ysl bag, the kate one, which I love so much! When I go to the outlet and see people with that ysl flap I always envy them. And when I visit the store its always out of my range. So i also went the second hand route. I think most of my bags were second hand. I only had 3 bags bought brand new. And i was always thinking that I couldve gotten them cheaper on the 2 nd hand market. But at least its guaranteed authentic as I had bought them in stores. Its either peace of mind or peace in your wallet lol. I dont think ill ever buy from the store anymore or even second hand. Im broke lol

LOL I love that. It is true. Much less of a headache buying straight from the source.

I got my YSL authenticated by Legitgrails, and it's also getting authenticated through the website I'm buying from, so hopefully it will be all righti

I had this ysl kate (not sure of the name) bag. The code is right behind the pocket. I wonder how to take photos of that when you need to send it for authentication? There are ysl brands that needs in person assessment. Pictures just cant do.

I’m not sure about other models but for mine I sent in a closeup of the serial number as well as hardware, all logos, dustbag, etcetera.. was about 15-20 photos in total, and they would not review until all of those photos were present.
