I'll be traveling to Europe next week, and I know there are a number of H shops in the south of France. We will be based in Nice---but probably could get to Cannes, MonteCarlo, etc. I'd like to visit all the nearby Hermes shops, but may not be able to, so any recommendations as to which ones are worth making a special trip? I think I've read that inventory differs quite a bit between these locations.

Thanks!

I would visit all of them. They're fairly close and you never know what you will find in each one. I was looking all over for a gator CDC last fall. Coun't find one in FSH, Georges Cinq, Monte Carlo or Nice. FINALLY I found it in Cannes.

BTW, there is an H in Beaulieu-sur-Mer that I never could find! If anyone has been there, would you please tell me about it and give directions? TIA

Kipp...we will be there at the same time and us to (me and Mrs. P) want to try our luck on some nice souvenirs of sorts. She printed out the addresses of all the H stores along the way from Costa del Sol to South of France to Genoa and Portofino...wow, isn't that a bit sad and shallow but heck why not, since we're already there! Just leave the kids at the beach with the nanny and we go our way...so much for spending quality time with the rugrats! LOL!!! Good luck to you and hope you get some nice souvenirs...PP

LOL, Troc, I finally tracked it down a couple of years ago. You need to walk away from BsM away from the shops eastwards to the Port/Marina. There's a couple of anchors as sculpure by the entrance to the Marina. Once through the entrance, tern left and keep walking. You will start to see a small number of single-storey buildings on the left before a few restaurants start appearing. There IS an Hermes tucked away near the end of the row of shops. It looks the most unlikely place to find an Hermes but I guess they pick up some passing trade from the yachts. It is tiny and only occupies half a shop - the other half is a clothes boutique, also tiny. There is not a lot there, although I was surprised to find a couple of lovely and new scarves there. I can't remember the bag situation, not a lot I expect and the silver jewellery was all a little tarnished and uncared-for looking. The cleaner was there when we were browsing and it was she who showed me the scarves! The one and only SA was busy doing something. It's really not worth going there unless you have time and feel you want to 'complete the set' of H in the South of France. Who knows, it may even have closed down by now - it looked that way inclined.

If my directions are totally baffling, then ask for the way to the African Queen restaurant (Bono might be there having lunch) it's only a minute's walk away from the H store and it is very famous - most people and all taxi drivers will know of the African Queen restaurant but to ask about H in BsM will have everyone scratching their heads, lol.

Definitely try Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo.

Don't bother with B sur Mer.

St Tropez H is lovely but unless you're driving it's a real pain to get to. There's a boat from Nice, it's a long trip though, 2.5 hours each way for a 4 hour or so stop off. However, it's enough time to visit H and have lunch, may mooch the market (Tuesdays and Saturdays), vist the art museum. The beaches at St Tropez are a couple of miles away from St Tropez itself

Hope there will be a few goodies left for you following the film festival and Grand Prix!

Allaboutnice, thanks so much for those directions! I figured the shop would be very small, but I was on A MISSION, so I wanted to leave no stone unturned. (My poor DH made so many Uturns I got carsick.)

I left a rosy Kelly 32 in Cannes 3 weeks ago and also picked up my a/w ex libris shawl, so they already had a/w stock then. They were really lovely in there but remember they close for lunch too. I posted on the inventory thread re the stock, so have a wade through. Probably changed by now though. Monaco was closed as it's track-side at grand prix time!

I don't know if you're planning on making your way to France's wine country, but the Bordeaux H is always very nicely stocked (although no birkins). Lots of Kellys and Vespas/Evelynes though. Plus a gorgeous RTW selection for both men and women.
