Reasons for NOT ACCEPTING a diamond!

I don't want a diamond simply because having my boyfriend spend $5000+ on a ring is not where our priorities lie. I would rather put that $5000 toward a home or our wedding. The other day, BF asked me if I was sure I didn't want a diamond engagement ring. I said definitely not. I don't want him to drop a load of cash just because it's what you're "supposed" to buy.
I do agree with the idea of an engagement ring. I think it's a beautiful tradition. What girl doesn't dream about her man popping the question?
But there are other beautiful choices such as sapphire, emerald, moissanite (my personal choice) and others.
