Question: do you use your older bags?

Many people buy a bag and use it until it's too worn out or they get sick of it, then they get a new bag and start over again. For some reason I see a lot of LV bags used like this, they will be worn through and falling apart and the owners don't seem to mind. Maybe they want to get their money's worth? One lady with such a bag finally decided to replace her LV neverfull after it wore out competely, and what did she replace it with? The exact same bag. I can't imagine using the same bag for years and years.

Personally I've always liked a variety of bags and like to change bags every couple of days, so yes, I use all my older bags. Because I rotate through them they seem to look like new for years.
I've seen people do that too. I remember being in the LV store and someone came in and asked for the exact same bag they were carrying. Even when I only carried one bag until it wore out, I was always excited to get a new style the next time around.

Lately I change bags about once a week.

I love my older bags. They just seem to be higher quality. I have an old Willis (1996) that I carry every day, and a crossbody 65th anniversary bag that I always get a ton of compliments on. I also like the Legacy duffle. Those seem to be the ones I wear most often. The newer ones are cute, but expensive and don't (in my opinion) even look like Coach bags. They could be anything.

If you are not collecting and know you won't use a bag again or have multiples you don't enjoy anymore, you should sell, give to friends/family or donate them.

If you are collecting or want to keep some, pick the bags you feel are classic/timeless/special, the ones in best condition, ones you feel you might possibly return to, and then clean and store in a sleeper.
Eliminate the excess, if there is any.
It is good to bring the bags out occasionally. Check them to make sure there aren't issues with storage (humidity, etc), condition if needed, let them air out, or use them.

It sounds like you have bags that will age nicely and be considered classic. I would keep a few, especially if the bags are functionally and aesthetically a good fit for you.

Re selling-
At any given time, there are @ 159K listings for Coach on eBay, 82K under handbags/bags. Definitely take advice from the ladies here that buy and sell on eBay (descriptive title, clear pictures, no details left out, etc) because it is very competitive.

I did not consider myself a collector until my last move when I realized I have a collection!
I use many of my older bags. I have given some to friends and family that were happy to take them.
They are kept in homemade sleepers (I'm pickier about the fabric used than Coach is ).
Because I rotate bags frequently, most of them look new (except my totes), a testament to the quality of leathers Coach has used, certainly not to my carefulness.

There are a few I never use now (like Madison Gracie, blk and brn) because they don't suit my needs (I'm not as lady-like or formal now as the 90s LOL) but would never part with because I feel as a collector they are important pieces (scarcity, quality, sentimental etc). And, maybe, one day, I will change yet again and enjoy using them.

I usually sell them after a while (to fund new bag purchases), but there are a few that I can't part with. Like, my very first full price bag - Hamptons Hobo in pool blue. I do have a couple of older bags I still use quite often - a classic city bag in red, and a vintage brown Willis.

my newest bags get carried the least. I don't own a lot of the very newest models but my newest one is a Madison and it's gorgeous, but I carry my vintage bags more

Hi ladies! So I have a question, I've noticed I lean towards carrying the newest/ trendiest bags out at the moment which leaves my older bags just hanging on a rack in my closet. I have some beautiful Madison bags that I love but they are 2-5 yrs old and I never use them. Do you rotate between your new and old or does your old bags just get left in the closet?
I am debating on selling my leather Juliette's and hippies to fund new bags but I don't want to regret selling them since they are discontinued bags.
I'm kind of all over the place. My style has been evolving with my lifestyle, so I sold a lot of the bags that I used to be head over heels for: 3 Marc by Marc Jacobs bags and a few Coach bags. Since my bag collection has been trimmed down, I'm more cautious of what I invest in. I ask myself how often I'll wear it and what shoes it will go with. I'll always have a soft spot for the simplicity and durability of Coach vintage though, so I feel like I need to have at least one or 2 of them in my collection at any given time.

To answer your question though, yes, I use all my bags. When I don't use it anymore, it's time to consider giving it a new home.

of course. I only buy a bag I know I will get use out of. I don't buy them to use them for a year and then discard them, especially when I have invested in some like LV, burberry, or prada. I plan to get my monies worth out of them. I have coach bags that have been passed down to me that are in great condition that are 30 years old. I also take good care of my bags, so I think that makes a diffference too.

Do you always get the price you were hoping to get on ebay? I'm a little hesitant to post my really nice bags like bronze juliette for auction because you never know how an auction will go

I do not chance sales with auctions. Almost all my high - value (in my opinion) bags I do as buy - it - now. Sometimes it takes a few months for it to sell at the price you want but at the end you feel good about it. Case in point being a matching Ashley Carryall and wallet in a gorgeous deep grey/blue jacquard fabric that were mff but super beautiful and rather rare in my opinion so I held out and eventually a person paid the 200$ I was asking.
