Hi ladies! So I have a question, I've noticed I lean towards carrying the newest/ trendiest bags out at the moment which leaves my older bags just hanging on a rack in my closet. I have some beautiful Madison bags that I love but they are 2-5 yrs old and I never use them. Do you rotate between your new and old or does your old bags just get left in the closet?
I am debating on selling my leather Juliette's and hippies to fund new bags but I don't want to regret selling them since they are discontinued bags.

Yes I am using an older bag right now, but I sometimes get caught by the new. I am keepiing my older stuff, I think it's better quality value than the new.

Using the Cambridge hobo....

I use my new bags more but I keep all of my old styles that work well for my needs and use them occasionally. I still have some Madison's/Kristin's/Legacy that I love. Sometimes I bring out an old bag and it's too small or uncomfortable to carry so I will get rid of those, but as long as I like it, I'm keeping it!

It depends. Specialized use bags that I'll use a few times a year and not everyday, like wristlets, clutches, beach totes, etc, I keep and don't count towards my total of everyday bags. For everyday bags, I sell them when I am over them. For example, I don't like the look of buckles, exterior pockets, and superfluous straps on me right now (many ladies rock the heck out of them, which I applaud). So, I have sold all of my Madison and Legacy bags except for my beloved Madison gathered leather small bag (that's as far back as my Coach collection goes). I figure should I like lots of hardware and details again, they can be replaced, and in the meantime, the DH can't complain too much about the size of my collection. lol

I tend to use whatever is newest to me; not necessarily the latest design but the one I got most recently. I also have bags I've owned for awhile that are perfect for me and I don't think I'll ever get rid of them. I have been trying to pare down my collection to a more manageable level. It's not going very well as there are too many I can't part with. I got rid of 3 Sophias, leaving me with 2. They are gorgeous and I almost regret getting rid of them but I just didn't use them very much because I prefer shoulder bags.

Right now, seeing the direction Coach is going and my suspicion that they will continue to cut down on quality, I want to hang on to the bags I love.

If you aren't sure, you shouldn't sell. I don't understand selling bags in order to buy new ones. If it is just to control the number of bags you own, I understand that. But if it is to fund new bags, you'd probably have to sell 3 or more to fund one new bag. That doesn't seem worth it to me.

If I do decide to get rid of something, I make myself carry it one more time to see if I'm really sure. A couple of times, I went so far as to take pictures and fell back in love at that point.

I usually want the newer bags and find I'm not always interested in revisiting my older bags ... so I often keep one of a style that was a particular favorite - my pebbly black Phoebe, my bronze Juliette - and sell the others on ebay to recycle my funds. That way if I "miss" a bag and want to revisit the style I have at least one I can go back to. It helps me not feel overwhelmed with bags (because I love to pick out a new style or two each season!), and helps with storage space and funds.

This happened to me as well. I was going through an album of pictures I took, getting ready to post for sale, and I ended up selling it to myself all over again. ;)

Do you always get the price you were hoping to get on ebay? I'm a little hesitant to post my really nice bags like bronze juliette for auction because you never know how an auction will go

I know some people make a fortune on auctions but that is rarely the case for me. I had a bag that I thought would get bid up through the roof - the first bidder asked me for a buy it now price before she bid and I told her I didn't have one. So she bid and no one else did, so I know I could have sold it to her for more than my starting price. It is a gamble that a multitude of buyers will see your auction at the right time, or even if you have the watchers, that they will bid (I had 25 watchers). I think for higher priced items, it is better to list as a buy it now.

I only keep bags in styles I love and that are timeless (to me) so I do use them no matter how old. Right now the oldest coach bags I have are small cross bodies from about 2 years ago and at least one of them gets used regularly:)

My oldest Coach bag is from the 60s. I have a Bonnie Cashin that I use. The age of the bag doesn't matter to me; it is only whether I still like it.

I almost always do a BIN, and I look at what the bag (in very good pre-owned condition, like mine would be) has sold for recently and price just a bit below that. I have had great success with that, but I never try to get back what I really paid for the bag. I figure I had lots of pleasure using the bag myself and that is worth something!

Also ... age doesn't matter to me either, really - I just love what I love! And often that is a newer style. But I do have several "oldies but goodies" that are among my favorites.
