With one caution....if the bag goes missing they assume no responsibility for it.
Whoa, I have a Rough and Tumble bag coming today and did not know about the "lost, out of luck" bit which is my fault that I did not read that on their web site. I used American express so hopefully I am safe. Plus I got a text that it is out for delivery here so it sounds like it is good. I will do a review when I get it.

Which one did you get? I ordered a bunch of leather swatches to get a sense for a custom bag (once you go MM, it's hard to go back!), but haven't decided what I want just yet.

I got the original bucket in this color. I doubt if I will order anything custom... maybe. MM has me spoiled. But I wanted an "everyday" sling around bag. My Verona Theia is pretty rugged, but this one will be more so I think. Plus I have no bags in this color.

Review: This Rough and Tumble original bucket bag, upon opening the box, lacks the wow factor of a MM. At first glance I was like, whoa!!!! To be honest, I thought it was lamb leather (my mistake). It is full grain calf, pull-up leather that comes with whatever scars, etc., were on the COW. It shows every fingernail mark. This does not bother me at all. I have had one in this leather previously as you will read below.

As my friend, TotinScience, says you would not take her to the prom but...
The leather is exactly like a Frye bag which is fine with me. Last year I gave my daughter a fairly large Frye pull up leather bag because it was too big for me. After it patina'ed (is that really a verb?) and softened, I was sorry I had given it to her. It is beautiful. This leather is sturdy, smells great , is not too heavy in a bag this size. It is smaller than I thought it was going to be. And it will be here long after I am dead.

I carried it last night and I like it a lot! It is comfortable on the shoulder and you can sling it around and sit it on the floor and never worry about it. So it is a great work horse bag. I have no regrets about the purchase.

PS I got a note from Rough and Tumble about their wax butter for the blemishes. LOL one would have to apply it every hour! Most of the scratches rub out with friction anyway.

One other note. It does not, like an MM bag, come with a long strap., only the hand carry strap. However, I can put it over my shoulder. But for those of you who need cross body or a long shoulder strap you would have to buy one from R and T.
Here are some BAD photos which I did last night in a rush before leaving the house. And yes horizontal stripes do add 20 pounds, YIKES, donate that shirt!! And as usual those "stripes" on the bag are magnified greatly, they do not look like that at all. They are very subtle.

Looks really nice, a great everyday bag!

For quality leather, check out Fount! Fountleather.com Made in the USA. I have two of their bags. They make their bags "heirloom quality." I have the Petite Bellfied tote in Hazelnut and the Coventry Bucket bag. I love them both. The leather is seriously amazing.

This is trouble! Just checked out their stuff.

I have been considering a Rough and Tumble, and got two sets of samples, but the last one took 3 weeks just for samples, and only then AFTER I emailed asking about it. Got no reply, just a shipping notice, which I thought was a little odd. I was going to custom order, but I'm on the fence about the big gappy pockets in the Hobo Pack (I'd ask for zippers on those maybe), and I've been hearing a lot of customer service horror stories, so I'm a little leery. So maybe I'll save longer for a Fount!

That is a little weird :/ - I ordered from them 3 times so far (one bag, leather remedy and swatches, and SLGs and swatches) and all times orders came in within a week, they were dispatched a few hours after I placed my order. I also communicated with them about which leather remedy to get and they responded promptly. But I agree, their customer service stories tend to be polarizing - either someone is super happy or it's a stuff of retail nightmares.
I saw Fount bags before and they are lovely! The woman who is modeling some of their bags, however, is probably VERY petite - all the bags look enormously gigantic on her, whereas if you look at the specs, those are pretty standard size totes that should not dwarf their owners .

I am sorry you had a less than a stellar experience with Rough and Tumble. I ordered swatches, then ordered so a leather care product and then a hobo bag. All of them were shipped the day I ordered them and arrived in 5 days. Responses to several questions I had were answered in less than 24 hours. In my experience there are occasional frustrating experiences with any company and unless I see recurring complaints, I attribute it to just a bad day.

Just wanted to add to the chorus that hopefully that last experience was just an anomaly because I also have had positive experiences with Rough and Tumble. I ordered swatches, then a Market Tote, then a Hobo Pack, and finally a sample linen Market Tote, and all shipped quickly, with communication and tracking.

The one downside is their return policy. It's 10 days and they don't refund return shipping, but since they are a small company, I can see why they do that...however it is a nuisance for those not used to that policy.

A Happy New Year & Handbag Philosophy for 2019 ~ where I am at now.

I have all of the premier and other brand name handbags that I need for my life-style now - a lot of work and about four or five years worth of learning and bidding and researching and hobnobbing paid off. I am good.

They are mostly all being used because they were picked for work and casual only. This took a lot of self-study and admitting that though thine art be a thing of wonder, I do wonder how best to utilize thine craft.

What has resulted from the free time that this fetish, now satisfied but present (it will never go away), has fomented has been to grow tentacles that have surfaced some wonderful no-name pieces for amazing exchanges. The latest was a two-tone unlined leather Roots tote bag found in the most unlikely place. The most unlikely places is where my amazing quality no-name or high quality but not in the same market as contemporary are flying in from.

May the universe coincide with your love for the art, even when rested, quite satisfied, not wanting.

Happy new years to all - 2019 is already so awesome. Not because of anything in particular - I am single and enjoy my own company.

No matter whether you are alone or in the company of others, my desire is that you are filled, and that if empty, that it is because it is a process of purposeful emptying before refilling and rejuvenation Will take place.

Peace out
Giovanna:heart:
