Jadelover, the Yukon Gold is something I heard about from a jade sister and I think it's the Yukon variety with more yellow "snow flakes" in it then the Yukon snow which has more milky streaks. Both varieties have yellow flakes but I imagine the gold has more of them. I could be wrong, but that's my interpretation.

Daisy, the malaccan is gorgeous with the cheongsam! Love the dark green with the bits of other colors echoed by the other colors in the batik. Very adult color range. Lovely! Ruby ring is gorgeous too.

Silver Mom, good luck with the home improvement project. Seems like there are quite a few of us going through some phase of it right now! Sigh....it will all be better in the end, though it's not fun to pay thousands for concrete when that money could buy such an amazing bangle.

Decided to wear my batik cheongsam with Malaccan Beauty. Still unwell fr flu... but gg to my mil's place for new year lunch.

You look beautiful and so does your jade!

“高B”翡翠及其鉴别 http://www.zbzixun.com/article/1044.jhtml

Nice article! Google translate got most of it for me.

Does those two look like grade B ? I did uv light at hubby' work they don't grow, I'm still not sure!! Pic uv light testing.

Aren't there some dyes that don't glow? I will let one of the more knowledgeable jade ladies answer. How does it feel?

I'm sad to say that I made an offer for a jade bangle in my size from an ebay vendor... (not UJ) that I thought was pretty and crossed my fingers.... I just received it and I'm pretty sure it is not grade A.

It is a small princess so it is lighter, but even from just touching it and handling it, something doesn't feel right. It makes a very short chime if I "ping" it with my fingernail, but duller sounding than my other bangles. It is not as cold and warms up very quickly. It has small pits and lines all over when I look at the surface reflecting in the light... very easy to see under 10x loupe.

I have no good light right now, but I'll try to take pictures tomorrow. I'm returning it this weekend when I can make it to the post office and I've already contacted the seller.

So sad, but a learning experience.

how much u bought it JP ? don't feel bad JP, if under 100usd,, if u like it just keep it as fun toy ?

Faithgrace, the pendant and bangle are suspicious looking to me because that green with that clarity is rare and very expensive....a look that people try to achieve when treating jade.
Did you try BOTH LONG WAVE AND SHORT WAVE UV? If the light is only short or long wave, there's a good chance of not detecting it if they are B grade. You need both wavelengths.

All that said, remember that UV is not great at picking up all dyes. You would need a gem microscope, or to just send it to the GIA.

They could be grade A's but I imagine the price would be telling. I think they would be rather expensive. Do you mind sharing when you got the bangle and how much? That would help a bit.

BTW, you are right that nothing is glowing in the pictures you posted. When they glow, they look like a light source in themselves. I hope your things turn out to be A's.

Junkempo, ugh, that's no fun! I'm curious about wether it has a dull, deadness to the jade? Thankfully it was 100 bucks and not more, AND you can return it!!!!! Whew. I'd love to see a picture of it, btw. It is really good at some point to hold a treated jade bangle because you really can learn to tell the differences between treated and A. (Not including the more difficult A/B bangles.)
Do you mind sharing who it came from? As usual, we need to keep a collective eye on which sellers are selling what goods.
