Germanshepard, Gorgeous, gorgeous new bangle! I adore the delicacy of the colors and of course that super fine grain is TDF!!! It looks really moist too. Thanks for posting a picture of your DEEP green bangle. I adore it. It has such a massive power to it. I would love to get a bangle from that kind of jade too. I'm inspired!

Jadelover, I also love your bangle with the open stone line. It has such a nice moisture/translucence, wonderful color transitions and a fine, fine grain. I say wear it and if it cracks (really, most likely it will not) then have it hinged. Hinging can look very beautiful, especially on. Or, a fine gold band around the crack will make it extra strong if it feels weak to you now. I feel as though we get a good feeling about wether jade is weak or strong. My antique bangle should be here any day. I had a gold band put around a chip on the edge. I just had the feeling the jade was weak in that spot, and did not want to chance it actually cracking.

Daisy, Wow! I was way off about Shadow. Sorry, I have never seen a Main c00n before. And now I remember that you mentioned that way earlier in the thread! My memory ! :(
Anyway, what a lovely ruby ring! I'm a huge corundum fan and love sapphires and rubies! You are right, most rubies these days are heat treated, lead glass, heat flux, and synthetic rubies made with cracks and inclusions to look natural. It's very, very hard to find a natural one with good color. I love the slight purple color in it. I bet it will look great with your lavender bangle. I have one natural ruby ring which I could only afford because it's got inclusions, and I bought it 7 years ago when the prices were more reasonable! That really must have been pricey, but congratulations! It's gorgeous!!!!!

Wow! Mochi is like human. He has the intelligence and observation skill. I think he basically memorize how things are placed in the house. Love super cat, Mochi. :hugs:

He probably has memorized everything in the house. LOL

Oh, the bangle is an old mine jade bangle from a local vendor. Alan's Yukon snow bangle are much delicate and beautiful than this which is beyond my reach.

Well, it certainly is so beautiful. Very interesting too!

Junkempo, gosh, I'm so impressed by how luminous your bangles are. They look so stunning on you. Those colors are the like the delicate colors of dreams! As always, I adore how you wear them like that! You go girl!

Hi Millicat! I love the vintage things you posted. Though you didn't ask, I thought I'd give you my opinion that the ring is nephrite jade, pendant jadeite jade and the bangle I believe is B/C jadeite jade. It doesn't quite look like rose quartz to me, but I could be wrong. Just thought you might want another opinion. They are all really pretty!

Silver Mom, you are right, Mochi is a genius! Sending admiration and hugs today! ( All you ladies have the most adorable cats and doggies ever.) Wonder if there is a connection between jade lovers and a tendency to find the cutest pets, lol?

Faithgrace, the bangle is lovely. Great color all the way around IMO.

Hi Bread, i got it fr Far East Gems. It's virtually impossible to buy unheated Mogok ruby fr jewellery shops. Most of the time, the sales assistants fr jewellery shops can't even tell me the origin of the stone. And almost all their rubies are heated ones. Need to be careful. It's common for African rubies to be glass filled.

U are right. SAs in jewellery stores are more offay(sp?) with diamonds than other gemstones. They can rattle of the 4Cs by heart.

Your ring is rare n gorgeous. :)

clairejune, can you please explain the concept of moist to me again. I just don't understand it. Does it mean shiny? In that case all jades look shiny to me. Also what is the difference between a glassy shine and a waxy shine like in nephrite? Is it that a glassy shine is more reflective as opposed to a waxy shine which to me is more opaque. Sorry for these questions but it is kinda confusing to me. And thank you if you have the time to explain.

Silver Mom, the term moist has nothing to do with polish. It is the way the jadeite reflects light inside the stone. Think of a very fresh gardenia petal or rose petal. When you look at it, you can tell that it is succulent with water inside. It almost has a dewy texture. It's similar with moist jade. Moist jade often has a very fine, or invisible grain. So it's the way the light reflects from the tiny, compressed crystals and it really looks moist, like a petal, a dewy fog etc. It's hard to describe.
I haven't seen too many jades that have a broken ice grain that also look moist. They look truly like broken ice. Same is true with 'watery' looking jade. Moist is a way of describing the kind of luminous light quality.
RE: Waxy vs. Glassy shine in nephrite, when I have described Allan's Yukon Snow bangles as glassy I mean that they have a vitreous shine, very much like the high polish shine of jadeite. A waxy shine means that it literally looks greasy. Imagine rubbing butter over one of your bangles. The shine would be more dull. This is the waxy look that SOME nephrite can have due to poor polish and the type of nephrite it is. This is not the case with the Yukon Snow type. It is glassy and vitreous in polish. Now, the material reflects light a bit differently than jadeite does because of crystal structure. Jadeite is like little interlocking tiles, while nephrite has long, hair like crystals. The length of the crystals in nephrite make it less brittle and tougher than jadeite, even though jadeite is just slightly stronger. Hope this helps!

Sisters, what you all think about this bangle, is this look like treated or untreated?
to me this look like treated jade
