PurseBlog Article: Taking Care of Your Bag

This article motivates me to keep taking care of my bags, and also to use them freely. I’ve contemplated getting a bag organizer, but never have. I think I’m going to just stick to my pouch system like several other members here. Great article.

@Notorious Pink - Thx for this article. Asking as a new B30 Noir Togo owner, what is the recommendation on how to “display”the lock when using your bag. My SA told me hanging it down the handle will cause it to scratch the leather over time. Is this true even if hung from the center buckle? Is there another fool-proof option?
Also do noir handles also stain/discolor if used without protective twillies?
Thanks much
PS: If this isn’t the thread for these questions please feel free to point me to the right one :ty:

I'm not NP but I have a noir Togo B......most folks here don't seem to wear their locks on their Bs, just the clochettes. It will scratch the bag. If you look at some older bags you will see the "smile" mark made by hanging a cadena from the turnlock.
I personally never use twillies on black bags. In my experience it's the lighter colors where handles discolor, and that can also be avoided by taking care with things like hand cream.

I agree the lock will scratch the bag and it will DEFINITELY scratch the hardware if you put it there.
Funny enough, I have always put the lock on my clochette the same way - not even consciously, it’s the way my SA did it the first time I got a Birkin and it seems to solve the problem (or at least it has for me so far). The lock is laying on the clochette so it never touches the bag. It is also through the leather loop twice so it doesn’t continually pull on one section of it.

Let me see if I have a pic…here is one. The only thing is that eventually it will rub the clochette a bit, but that doesn't bother me so much.

I don’t currently have an insert in my B30 Togo and yday after a few hours of having the lock displayed as in the post below (inspired by the pic above), I noticed my front handle and strap were bending a bit anteriorly. Should I ditch the lock/clochette completely? I really liked the look but not at the cost of destroying the shape. Perhaps, I can do as QF mentioned and just hang the clochette minus the lock.
Open to alternative suggestions and/thoughts.

TIA
