purse ban??

I've been living with my SO for almost 14 years and he has never commented on any handbag I've ever used. He has noticed my increase in number of bags (as they are all over our bedroom at the moment) but only because I never had this many before.

My taste tends to be plain, simple and classic so I can't imagine him or anyone else for that matter really disliking anything I've chosen. I spend my own money so I buy what I like and honestly think he is happy as long as I am happy.

I can understand someone disliking a bag and saying please don't wear that when we are out together but can't imagine being with somone telling me I couldn't have it at all. Peggy

If he didn't like it cause it doesn't look right on me, I won't get it (unless I really love it and won't ever use it).

He actually picked out a couple of bags for me to get.

You actually LISTEN to your husband's opinions on HANDBAGS!!:wtf: My husband and I have a great friendship/marriage BUT, when it comes to our fashion tastes (especially mine) he never crosses that line! So, if he EVER banned me from getting any handbag because of the style, this would be my reaction!...:wtf: , , ,:roflmfao:, !!...:ban:my a:censor: s!

Well if I buy my own bags obviously he has no say, if i'm taking it out when we are out together he might state that it's not his favourite but never stops me from taking it.

When it comes to him buying me a bag for christmas or birthday he will refuse to buy something he doesn't like. One year I wanted one of the Bracher Emden bags - they are very "vegas" style with lots of Swarovski crystals and they are very "bling" and he wouldn't get it as my pressie!! He said it was like the sort of bag a footballers wife would carry ( the cheek! ) So I got a Mulberry instead - much more tasteful in his eyes. However oneday I will buy myself my own Bracher Emden bag. I kind of don't mind - I can understand his reluctance to buy something he actively dislikes, I wouldn't want to but him something I disliked either.

Talking of which it's my birthday in a week and he's offered to buy me a Chanel - hurrah!

No way!

If I buy something new and I show it to him, he would only tell me his preference ... if he likes another bag of mine better. But he never bans me from buying a particular bag because he doesn't like it ... anyway, what does he know about bags? lol.

The only handbag purchases we discuss before buying is with Hermès Birkins, Kellys or Bolides. Since they are quite pricey, I tell him in advance what I ordered so that he is aware and not surprised when the bags arrive.

Otherwise, no banning in my household.

No banning in my house either. That said he does have some very strong opinions regarding bags - my SO took a disliking to the Spy bag also - he said it looked ridiculous! But then what does he know!:graucho:

To me, the Spy by itself does not photograph well. It looks much better on a person, where you can get a sense of the proportions of the bag.

Unfortunately there is no Fendi in my area. He actually went to Saks to order one for my birthday (prior to the ban..lol) and the SAs there talked him out of it. Apparently they thought it was ugly as well and a waste of money. Why an SA would talk someone out of a sale I have no idea! :hysteric:

Not too long ago we saw a woman at a resturant with a cognac one - but it was sitting on the chair next to her and ended up looked deflated.

thats the best SA you can find then! keep him/her! and then buy something a bit more expensive...:roflmfao:

If my husband ever so much as tried to place a ban on *anything* in my general direction, he'd be on the sidewalk on his bum with his clothes thrown at him before he could finish the sentence.

Well I'm not married, but occasionally I'll run a purchase by my BF. I feel sort of weird buying expensive things with him not knowing, so for the most part he knows... and if he has a severe opposition to a particular bag, I do take that into consideration. Its funny though, when I wanted a Balenciaga and was hesitant to spend that much $, it was him talking me into it. He jokes about a ban on purses, but he knows I'm not going into debt over handbags and that I'm smart with my money so if I indulge occasionally in that department he understands (or at least tolerates it.. I'm not sure he'll ever truly understand it all).

My dh would never ban me from anything, but I always ask him which bags he likes and I take his opinion into consideration. He is a designer after all, so he cares a little bit.
