here at Amsterdam LV boutique as a tourist(per-person)you can only purchase 2 in each monograms or epi ......etc
if you a resident here then you can buy as many as you like....

Again, I must thank for all the answers :-) Apart from that I speak another language than danish I don't really stand out as a tourist in Denmark either (maybe I stand out as a smalltown-girl in the big city, but I guess there aren't that many differences between norwegians and danes when it comes down to it), so I just think I'll act cool, although it probably won't be a problem, and if there indeed is a limit then I'll just spend my money another place and buy the rest when LV opens a store in Oslo :-)

I know there is a limit in the parisian shops; I even heard 1 bag per person especially if you re Asian :( I guess they want to prevent from copy or reselling or whatever.....It s unfair and a few years ago I met that Chinese couple on the Champs Elysees who sent me to buy a bag for them in LV, giving me the cash ! But its quite common and now the SA are aware of that.....I dont think you ll have any pb in Copenhagen, the Danes are very cool people.....

I've read an article on this, unfortunately I can't seem to locate it. I've heard of rationing at the Champs Elysee store (limit of 2 per) as there have been some entreprenuers who are actually flying over to France to purchase Vuitton items to sell in their countries. Why ? Because the luxury taxes or the markups in these countries makes that trip worthwhile.

I've never had that problem at the Hawaii LV boutiques either, although stranger things have happened. The policies also differ store to store. Such as how the Beverly Hills LV allows full refunds during a certain period of time, and the ones here are store credit only.

Based on my sister's experience buying at the LV store in Paris, each of them were only allowed to purchase (I think) 2 of each kind (2 wallets, 2 bags, etc) their whole stay in Paris. They check your passport against their record to make sure you haven't reached the limit. My sister's friend was trying to buy bags for her nieces and couldn't because of the limit. But that's in Paris. It could be that they're being strict with tourists.

Guys, I dont see how that makes sense. I am a living example of 3 bags in a go! Last saturday in Paris!

I can post proof (pics of items) and of reciept (but woudnt prefere to as it has personal details on it). Honestly, I guess it varies. For instance once you have shopped there before you are on the database and perhaps it depends on the history.

I'll tell ya, I LOVE the Keepall and other items, but they kind of scream "follow me and rip me off," or at least that's what some thieves have said. Then there's the case of what happened to a friend's LV luggage. She sent through a few bags, and her clothes came out at the other end in plastic garbage bags. How the thief got them to their car without at least one honest person questioning what they were doing is hard to comprehend.

Now if you're on a private plane, never mind.

Because of the detaxe, the Sales personnel in Louis Vuitton in europe are wary of mules or people who are being used to buy their goods to be resold. They have a computerized system that keeps track of their customer's purchases, so I guess as long as your purchases do not raise suspicion, like buying two or three of the same items, it will not pose a problem for you.

That's funny yet sad at the same time. I didn't know there was a limit at all!

I so hope that is not true about discriminating against someone b/c there're Asian! What kind of crap is that??!

I heard of that as well, my friend was in paris and a Chinese man approached her to go in an buy a purse for him...gave her cash. My friend was Chinese American...I think it really has to do with all the counterfeits...but ironically, LV opened a huge store in Shanghai last year. China is ahuge market, all major brand are either there or trying to get there.

Yup, I've read the article that Ayla has posted too. And also, while in the LV in London, I was talking to the supervisor and she advised me to be prepared to be a little bit ignored if I shopped at their Paris stores because of the fact that I'm Asian.
