Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

The basketball game photo - op does appear to have been staged by the Harkles, they invited their staff
Who invites their lawyer to box seats ???
In the US, the common practice, for rich people who use a top notch expensive law firm or accountant, they invite the client to the box seats, I have even gone to playoff games that way because I am a la di da person with legal and accounting staff LOL
Who invites their lawyer to the game ???

Maybe they couldn’t pay him this month so the game was his “compensation”.

And musings on H’s lawsuit …
1. the gall of trying to use W’s experience with tabloids as precedent, and blabbing it all to the public
2. Since when ? If tabloid does something wrong once (with W) this does not prove anything was done to H
3. This lawsuit is about stuff that happened donkey years ago
4. There are how many other plaintiffs, eg Elton, what have they claimed ???

It's also possible that it was the lawyer who invited them and not the other way around. Some law firms like to entertain their best clients. The Harkles are what I would call very promising clients.

No. This commenter on CDAN got it right:

Markle was surrounded by everyone including her husband wearing jeans and casual wear, and she's dressed like she's going to brunch in 1985. . . .as a 10-year-old. Hell, I'm pretty sure I HAD that suit in the '80s as a kid "for dressy occasions". I honestly have to wonder how she has worked with THIS many wardrobe designers, costumers (for work), and been in close proximity with some of the top couturiers and magazine fashion editors in the world . . . and she still hasn't even a basic sense of "dressing for the occasion".

It really shows one of two (or maybe both) things:

1. She has zero ability to review what people have worn to the games before. Plenty of photos of celebs sitting courtside from which to draw inspiration. Jeans and a tee would have been way better. I've never attended a basketball game but certainly know that this is not the right outfit.

2. She received one freebie outfit and this was it - so she simply wore it rather than pick something appropriate from her closet.

I believe she is trying SO HARD to one-up Catherine that she felt she had to turn up in what she believes is a "Duchess-glam" outfit that she couldn't see how silly she looked. Silliness compounded by cheesing it up for the cameras like a try-hard and sitting in a box and not courtside.

I do not believe that either one of them have any interest in sports (other than pony polo). The only time they show up to something is when it's comped (Harry at the Superbowl, this NBA playoff game) or because it's an obligation (Invictus games). So this obviously was a stunt publicity move.

This insta post shows Will & Kate with high profile people at courtside…and associated costs.

latest mention of the Harkles from andy cohen on WWHL. He played a game with his guests - Patti Lupone and John Leguizamo. He would say something and they were to say whether or not they cared about it. He said Price Harry going to the coronation without Meghan Markle. Patti didn't care. John said he did kinda care but didn't elaborate. Interesting that Andy didn't refer to her as duchess. He keeps bringing them up - guess he thinks it's topical.

I'll be generous with some advice here. Why not put her energy into something actually achievable?

Kate, the future queen and mother of a future king. Kate who can (and will) borrow priceless jewelry. Kate who always looks flawless. Kate who has a body that makes couture look good. Kate who is married to someone she actually likes. Kate who had the courtside seats back in Boston.

Just spare yourself the trouble.
