Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

And then he married a famewhore if there ever was one. And he still thinks she saw the person and not the title, the money, the clout. I do feel sorry for him.

I might feel sorry for him if he were a nicer person. He’s spiteful and bitter and it’s easy to dislike him.

It should be a crime to be so stupid.

Harold, looks like your wishes have been fulfilled! TW didn't take any risks, she apparently disabled 'Google' on all of her devices before meeting you. :hrmm:

"The Duke of Sussex says perhaps Chelsy was his only girlfriend who did not get fascinated by his royal title.

Writing in his memoir ‘Spare’, Prince Harry notes: “ I’d always wanted to know what it might be like to meet a woman and not have her eyes widen at the mention of my title, but instead to widen them myself, using my mind, my heart. With Chelsy that seemed a real possibility. Not only was she uninterested in my title, she seemed bored by it. Oh, you’re a prince? Yawn.”

He continues: “She knew nothing about my biography, less than nothing about my family. Granny, Willy, Pa—who’re they? Better yet, she was remarkably incurious. She probably didn’t even know about my mother; she was likely too young to recall the tragic events of August 1997.”

I think he's an idiot. He was a working Royal since leaving the army (and we know he didn't do much there besides get confused about he was playing video games, playing chess or killing people). Being a Prince was what he did not just his title.

If I met a person who was not interested in what I do "yawn" or who my family was "yawn" I'd be asking myself if we had anything in common and whether I bored them YAWWWWnnnn

On the other hand if I met a a guy who wanted to impress me, yet kept mentioning he was a Prince, moaning about his poor sad life, and who his family were and what a pain it was to have to like shake people's hands 6 times a year, and the so, so SAD story of his poor, dear, perfect, angel of his mother I'd be yawninging too :sleepy:

I thought her face looked very puffy in the mockumentary. Not sure what she did to it.
I don't understand how people can say that someone who has had fillers, botox, plastic surgery you name it, is beautiful?? Surely beauty is what nature gave you, not a plastic surgeon!! IMO TW wasn't particularly pretty before all the procedures she's had.

People are easily pleased/impressed.

There are people that were naturally prettier before a surgeon go hold go them (Pamela Anderson) but perhaps with MegZZ and others (Bella Hadid maybe too) perhaps it is more like complementing a skilled practitioner. What's for sure is that many of these women are never satisfied and constantly have work done because their 'faults' are in their head.

I am probably in a minority of seeing MegZZ as a little girl as being much prettier, there was nothing wrong with her, but she is almost unrecognisable.

Exactly, how can one say that Bella Hadid or the youngest Jenner/Kardashian girl are beautiful, or even just pretty? They are totally different people from what they were before....I dunno, maybe I'm just to old to understand:whut:

Cosmetic surgery goes all the way back to the early part of the 20C, it's just relatively safer, inexpensive and a lot more accepted these days.

What's also sad (and it's not ONE particular ethnicity) is that men and women often want to rid themselves of what their cultural background gave them naturally and 'import' some standardised feature. In M's case, this applies.

Another TRG deep dive - into the non-foundation ARCHEWELL FOUNDATION. a few key takes
1. The Harkles did not sign the AF impact report, two unknowns now head the charity. It is a charity despite having foundation in its name
2. There are at least TWO Archewells , ARCHEWELL LLC, ARCHEWELL FOUNDATION AKA charity
3. there is like a dozen shell corporations / LLC
Very murky … I don’t claim to understand it all
4. Who pays for the legion of accountants ???
5. IMPACT REPORT is content free, taking credit for work done by partner organizations

I listened to this late last night. It is long and complicated. This woman puts out amazing content on a regular basis. My take home message is that smart people (not H&M) who charged a ton of money for their services thought up this complicated and convoluted business of shell companies, charities and foundations. It also takes a ton of money to keep the oiled machine running so I wonder how much of the money they actually get to keep. All the business advisors that Meghan kept on the payroll surely started working on a plan for their exit the minute she said she had hooked her fish. These people combined with Markus Anderson/Soho House are the creators along with the smarter hires like Catherine St Laurent. The interesting thing to see will be if the Harkles don’t blow it all up with a complete separation from the royal link. That link accounts for 99% of the success that they have had up to this point. Another reason for him to show up at the coronation if he was invited, As @youngster has pointed out, he has weathered the freezing chill before. Despite all his moaning and the victim act, Harry has a tougher shell than previously thought when it comes to getting what he wants He needs the royal lifeline or failure looms.

I think you are looking at her with European sensibilities, which are more accepting of natural flaws and beliefs that they give a face character. I thought she was a pretty child, and a pretty young woman. Growing up in one of the PS capitals of the world can be damaging to how a person views their looks. The age of selfies and mass media pictures has been a boon to the plastic surgeons as well. Plus actresses have always fallen prey to this. The smarter ones do the minimum and only when necessary. Most don’t and one day wake up looking like a whole other person.

It is scary how prevalent PS has become and the risks people are willing to take (check out the Asian PS subforum here on TPF) to fulfill some artificial canon of beauty
But women have been trying to conform to what society decides is beautiful for centuries, taking belladonna to show bright, dilated pupils, feet binding, cosmetics made w lead, cranium elongation (both men and women on this one), etc
The sad thing is that MM has effectively erased what made her unique as a mixed race woman and now looks generic and mainstream which might have been her goal
