Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

Lady C post today was quite interesting….

So Meghan Markle, one of the most outstanding examples of all time, of how ruthless ambition allied to minimal talent and maximal self-regard will catapult you from obscurity through deserved renown into global revulsion, celebrates her 44th birthday today. Her contribution to society should not be minimised.

She is the living embodiment of the warnings great writers and philosophers, from Euripides, Plutarch and Shakespeare to Plato, Jung and Nietzche, have issued to humanity over the centuries. Seldom has a public figure encapsulated the fatal flaws that teach onlookers the lessons all great philosophies and religions have as their basis. Whether it is Christopher Marlowe entertaining us with the dangers of a Faustian bargain, or Jesus Christ poining out why it profiteth not a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul, Meghan Markle's determination to make herself into the most famous woman on earth has provided the world with the abject lesson of why the myth of Icarus is as relevant today as it was in Ancient Greece.

She also proves why destructiveness is often more fascinating than constructiveness, in the process providing mankind with many a lesson which we can all put to good use in improving ourselves and making the world a better place in which to live.It is a truism that humanity doesn't learn its lessons by emulation alone. Often the best lessons are learnt from those whose example, we recognise, is best avoided. And certainly it is a fact that glaring examples of what not to be or follow frequently constitute the best entertainment

Finally Lady CC wrote something worth reading. One point though, you have to have a soul in order to lose it. The jury is out on whether she had/has one.

And from Dr Sophie statement:

….

I thank every dedicated colleague and the courageous new Board members who have stayed focused on the mission in the face of unprecedented media glare. The unexpected adverse media campaign that was launched by those who resigned on 24 March 2025 has caused incalculable damage and offers a glimpse of the unacceptable behaviours displayed in private. We are emerging not just grateful to have survived, but stronger: more focused, better governed, boldly ambitious and with our dignity intact.

Prince Harry reprimanded for crisis at charity

Duke of Sussex loses battle for control of Sentebale as watchdog criticises him for his part in ‘damaging’ bullying row

The Duke of Sussex has lost his battle for control of the charity he set up in his mother’s memory as a watchdog criticised him for his part in a “damaging” bullying row.
Sentebale, which Prince Harry co-founded in 2006, was thrown into crisis in March when Dr Sophie Chandauka, its chairman, made claims of harassment and misogyny, triggering the resignations of the Prince as patron and several trustees.
A Charity Commission investigation into the affair has found problems with Sentebale’s governance and rebuked “all parties” involved for allowing the spat to play out in public, but ruled that Dr Chandauka and the current board could remain in place, meaning she has emerged victorious.

…..

The Prince is said to be “utterly devastated” by what he regards as a “hostile takeover” of the charity, and has signalled that his split from Sentebale is now permanent.
Had the commission launched a statutory inquiry into Sentebale, there would have been pressure on the chairman to leave, paving the way for Prince Harry to return, but the fact that the watchdog decided that was unnecessary and allowed her to stay means there is now no way back for him.

…..

The commission said it had found no evidence of widespread or systematic bullying or harassment, including misogyny or misogynoir, but it “acknowledged the strong perception of ill-treatment felt by a number of parties to the dispute and the impact this may have had on them personally”.

From comments on line it’s more than a view of her toes. Some people had an adverse reaction because it triggered thoughts of limbs dangling as a result of suicide by hanging. Similar type picture, on another site as well.

She saved me from wanting a pair of H sandals.
The worst part of this is that I have those exact H sandals in black, and I don't want to associate wearing them with this vision. Not sure hers are real though because mine look quite different (meaning....good) on my feet.....but then again I don't have feet like hers with prehensile toes and such....(thankfully).

oh Harry is angry.....how many times have we heard that?

Harry's anguish after being ejected from the charity he established in memory of his mother was described to me in heartbreaking detail by an ally.

I wrote earlier today that I suspected Prince Harry was feeling pretty miserable after he dramatically quit Sentebale, the African HIV charity that he established in memory of his mother, after losing a boardroom battle with its chairperson, the formidable Sophie Chandauka.
That has now been confirmed to me by a source close to Harry who told me the prince was “emotionally devastated” by what has happened. He is also incredibly angry.

Prince Harry in Lesotho
Harry and his royal friend, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, jointly established the charity in 2006 in memory of their deceased mothers, Diana and Queen ‘Mamohato.
Harry believes the charity, which has helped hundreds of thousands of the world’s poorest and most desperate children cope with HIV, either directly or in their family, over the past 19 years, has effectively been “tanked” by Chandauka.
Adding a new level of anguish, he is “absolutely disgusted” that Chandauka has invoked the memory and legacy of his mother to attack him in her own statement issued today.
Harry is also, I think it’s fair to say, ruing the day in July 2023, that Chandauka was appointed chair of the board, giving her a powerbase from which to launch her “hostile takeover” of the charity, as he is characterizing it to his allies.
Harry and Seeiso were no longer board members (they had graduated to the role of patrons and figureheads), so were not part of the vote to crown her, but still, one assumes they had significant influence.
So, how did it happen?
The source said: “Sophie Chandauka is intelligent, articulate and charismatic and she used that charisma to manipulate people around her, to effect this power grab and basically steal away Prince Harry and Prince Seesio’s life’s work. ...

The sandals are innocent bystanders :)

I’d continue to wear them happily

So basically he is angry that he gets to taste some of his own medicine?
