This is good to know.......too bad the BF isn't going to France, but that should mean that Munich, Germany is still cheaper, right? :amuse:

Yes, it should be cheaper there.

I've been told LV prices in Stockholm/Sweden, Copenhagen/Denmark and London/UK are a bit more expensive than in euro currency EU countries, due to fluctuations in the value of their currencies.

My Very First Trip to Louis Vuitton, Paris

By Alex

Forgive the childlike title, but, hey, I was like a kid in the candy store (for 20 short minutes)…I’ll go back!….which came as a great surprise to me since I gave up Vuitton a while ago.

Warning: I am about to make statements which may offend at first, but I ask in advance, please read to the end to learn of my Louis Vuitton transformation before prejudging me on the following paragraphs. Perhaps my testimony will help other “Antivuittonettes” find the light.

I have always had a certain loyal admiration for Vuitton, though I have never owned a single piece. Paris is just so saturated with Louis Vuitton that it has become a bit of a cliché. Not to mention the unfortunate side effect in Paris when you carry a classic model. You are constantly “eyed” in an attempt to decipher if your Vuitton is the “real deal”…who needs that when you have so many other “first impression” challenges to face?

Please forgive me, but around here, the cliché abounds! The old loyal French Vuitton buyers no longer wish to be associated with a decidedly “teenager” brand, so many have abandoned it. * Ehem; I would like to mention here that I am not part of that “old” demographic *

Now, I am not an anti-Vuitton snob, just haven’t been “drawn in” by their marketing of late….I am not a “multicolored fringe, charmed, white with bright colors” kind of girl. I was, when I was younger, much, much younger…

Today, “I got it!” …saw the light…it was an amazing 20 minute experience and I am adding it to my list of “places to take my friends when they come to Paris”….even before I have run out of other ideas! Maybe even before the bateaux Mooches!

I GOTTA HAVE something….

Now, that NEVER happens to me (unless I am at Chanel, and then it ALWAYS happens=)…I only had a few precious moments…it caught my eye, and didn’t let go…I can’t stop thinking of it and imagining how to make it my own…. I don’t know what it costs or what it is called….SOMEONE help this Vuitton novice! *I suspect I will dream of it tonight* I think I NEED it. I DESIRE it, and I hope I get it before it discontinues! (this is an unfortunate place to mention, dear that the globe shopper MM is discontinued…I am so sorry…I think of you with heavy heart as I write this)….there are no frings, no brightly colored painting on beautiful white leather….just sheer, timeless elegance and beauty…what is the name of this beautiful creature???? I will surely have to go back before this week finds it’s end…it is a black frame bag with gold hardware, and delicate gold chains…honestly, it reminds me of elegant 80’s understatement (yes, there was a little understatement in the 80’s, which is still less understated than the 2000’s, but I LOVE it) any one know what it is called? I will have a look on the internet later, but it is more fun to ask if there is someone else who is smitten with it!

Now! On with the task at hand: Prices:
First, and foremost, I would like to mention that the staff at LV, Paris were MORE than accommodating. Beginning with the cute gentlemen who “poopooed” the guy who walked in front of me with a disagreeing look no spoken words could have conveyed “how dare you walk in front of the lady”…oh, no, chivalry is not dead at LV, Paris! gotta LOVE that….

Secondly, and also foremost, I found such a sweet Sales Associate who saw that I was in a bit of a rush (I wish I had gotten her name…next time! Promise!)….girls, I had pasted your information on a word document and printed it out…I wasn’t sure how she would react, but she was lovely…she said (in French) “let’s go see, together”…so, we did…and even though she assured me that the prices were the same on the website as in the store, she insisted on handwriting the prices next to the requests for you. I wish I had gotten her name for you…she was so nice! I am attaching that scan for you here, provided I can get it right.

Ok, ok….here are your prices!

The Speedy 30 is 410€ which converts to $521.93 (WOW! Quel differenceVondervall!)

The “Excentrice” is 655€ or $833.80
The Damier Alma is €585€ or $744.52

The “Batingnolle Horizontal is 545€ or $693.58
The Epi Passy is €800 or $1,828.00
The Epi Passy GM is €950 or $1,209.29 (Wow, Gingerfarm….I think it sounds like you should join that boyfriend of yours and go shopping?)

The red epi Koala is €395 or $502.82
For the Epi Speedy, she gave me two prices for two different sizes: €590 or $750.87 and €625 or $795.42 … Isadora

The denim Fushia mini pleaty is €460 or £585.48…so sorry the glove shopper has been discontinued, bags2 riches, wish I could be of more help!

What a great experience! I highly recommend a stop in at LV, Paris on your next trip….ESPECIALLY if you don’t particularly like it!

Bisous,
Alex

PS. I can't figure out how to post my photos here, so I am going to do another thread "My Very First Trip to Louis Vuitton, Paris"=)

I would not judge you...I was like you too, never liked LV, still don't own a piece of it....but it's sooooooo growing on me....especially seeing bf's mom carrying one that she's had for many years, and never go out of style. hehe, I have a whole new perspective now. :p

Thank you so much for your info! Sounds like you had a great time...my problem is there are so many choices in LV that I end up not knowing what to pick. I can't imagine what it's like to be in the store in Paris! So many choices! I think I need to have my BF bring me with him on his business trip...i'll be like, "oh, no...don't worry about me being bored...I'll just go spend the day in the LV shop." haha. I'm so excited to see that the prices are around $100 cheaper! and plus the VAT back...it's a much better deal than getting in the U.S. Need to start saving again... (hehe...I blew my this purse budget at Burberry buying coats this weekend). I still got about 3 months before his next trip. :amuse:

Thanks so much Alex! Can't wait to see your pictures. :flowers:

I just wanted to let you guys know that to see prices in France you can just go to vuitton.com and select France as your country... but then Alexandra wouldn't have an excuse to go to the mothership!! :p
Did you see a Damier speedy??

If fact, is there anywhere in Europe where the price is definately the same as France?

I paid 385 EUR for my MC Pochette in Vienna/Austria and in the French LV webshop the price was and still is 380 EUR. So there's not much difference. The SA told me the boutique prices for euro currency countries are the same.

Hahaha, the mothership....love it!
Yes, that is the thing that impressed me the most! The SA told me that all of the prices were on line...I insisted that she not go to the trouble of looking and spending so much time...but, she insisted! Now, that is service!

Thanks everyone, I had a lot of fun! Anyone know the name of my next black bag...that one with the chains I mentioned? I didn't see it on the website....

You know Boudoir, I didn't see the Damier Speedy...gotta go back to the mothership...

alex dear, you are a real saint!!!!!! gosh!!! the prices are SO SO SO much cheaper over there compared to my part of the world!! (at least $250 cheaper) *argh* i DEFINITELY need to seriously beg someone to go get stuff on my behalf!!! *desperate*
