ITA, if that set is from Tiffany there's no way it was only $3K. That said, maybe her DH stretched the truth and told her it's from Tiffany when it's not? Also, Tiffany doesn't sell their rings in "sets" like she has. Everything is separate.

cant she tell?? theres no tiffany's marked in the inside if its not a real tiffanys right??

theres nooooo wayyyyyyy its 3000!! lol! i wish!! i was one of the ones that HAD to have a tiffanys (hey i dont do replica bags, why replica rings! lol, i was dead set on the ribbon ring, no way i would want a counterfit ring hahaha)

but i *believe* all of the rings are platnium, at least mine is...and the prices are NOT that bad....i have just above a 1 carat center and it was about $15,000

hope that helps!

could her husband have just bought the ring and put in a CZ?? now im curious.. i kinda wanna call a tiffany's store and ask if they have 18k white gold.. but i do not wanna sound stupid. lmao

im pretty positive that you cant just buy a setting from tiffanys....

MAYBE she got one of her bands from there?? haha i dont know, thats so weird!! why would she lie?

i dunno, but she has a pretty shady past.. getting married and not telling anyone. and then at times she still calls him her BF. when i asked who was her BF, she never answered. she also says she bought a house, and now says she got an apartment her and her husband live in that her parents are paying for?? she says she going to school, however she told me she dropped out last year? and she also told me that she was dating her DH for over a year before they got married, but i clearly remember she was with someone else just 5 months before she married this guy. i think she told me that last lie because she didnt want me to think she was marrying him too soon?? so she stretched out how long theyve been going out a taddy bit??

Hey, wait, I think you can buy Tiffany sets in Tijuana! Some of the stuff down there is even pretty good with the markings. You used to be able to tell by the weight that the Tiffany silver stuff was fake, but even the weights were about right the last time I was there.

No, Tiffany doesn't sell settings without diamonds, and they won't set a loose diamond in one of their rings. I suppose they could have bought the setting in a pawn shop and had a diamond or CZ set in it. CZs have gotten soooo good recently that I don't think you can be sure whether they're real or not without a loupe and a diamond tester.

haha i thought u were being serious with the whoole TJ thing. lol i dont think he husband is sharp enough to go to the pawn shop and get it reset.. lol, maybe he just bought it all at the pawn shop?? maybe just tiffanys inspired?? did look a bit worn...

which reminds me, this girl a few years back in HS said she just got engaged, and showed off her ring to me. it was pretty, and looked very vintage and worn, i asked if it had any sentimental meaning, shes like, "like what??" i asked if it was passed down from a grandmother or anything. ughh stupid me wasnt thinking.. i felt bad. it wasnt passed down. i think he bought it second hand and she didnt want to tell anyone. i feel so bad to this day. UGHHH :push: but there is nothing wrong with passed down rings! shoot i wish my family had something passed to me. so special!

i guess shes done a retraction!! she is now saying it is a "(TIFFANY STYLE ROUND BRILLIANT;18K DIAMOND WHITEGOLD)" i think she feeling it from everyone.. people were talking.. well i cant say much. i was too. lol

Yeah, me too. I have my great grandmother's emerald ring because I am the only May birthday in the family, but it's not an antique - it's from the 70s or something. DH's mom has a TON of beautiful (and valuable) stuff. His sisters have very little interest in jewelry, so maybe we'll have something special for our children from her someday.

The funny thing is, if I was going to buy something used that looked used, I'd take it and get it polished! I mean, how much can it cost to have a ring shined up and buffed and re-dipped or whatever? $100? Probably less. People are so funny.

That makes a lot more sense! There are a million "Tiffany-style" rings. I wonder if it's legal for a store/company to advertise them that way?

lucky children if they get it one day.. my mother gave me her set from my dad when i was younger. it was like the only thing i had to hold on to because they divorced.. i lost it... :crybaby:thought my mom would of killed me, instead she said it was fine. she would of tossed it anyways if i didnt want it. now im happy its gone. my dad wasn't much of husband to my mom, and that "symbol" didnt symbolize anything but a strong woman being held back by a douche bag. :cursing:

(sorry, ive been crying, my father really hurt my feelings a few moments ago.)

Real diamonds are real diamonds everywhere :shrugs: I am glad DH decided to get me a bigger and better quality diamond from White flash than a little tiny one from Tiffanys. His best friend got her wife a tiffany ring and its like so tinny you can even see it shine.

Some people believe that because it's "inspired" that its fake some way. Like how Goach bags are "inspired" They do not claim to be Coach in any way, so they cannot be called knock offs. IMHO diamonds are diamonds, they are all beautiful! However, there are some people who just have to have the original one and not the inspired one which is also fine too! :smile1:

^^ i totally agree REAL DIAMONDS ARE BEAUTIFUL no matter what!! :love:i really don't want to turn this fun thread into drama, but honestly i think it is unfair for people to say why buy that at tiffany's - just go have it made

um im sorry IF you get a blatant copy of a ring made -- that is PRETTY much the same as buying a counterfeit bag, because you nor your designer came up with the concept. Does that make sense?

furthermore, some of these replicas handbags are getting SO good that they are even using real leather....does that make it right? would anyone carry a counterfeit handbag even if it did use real leather? i dont know, i know i wouldnt

And the Goachs...yeah i have NO problem with that, because it is OBVIOUSLY a fake kwim? it is so obvious it is a fake that no reasonable person would even consider that was real...so if people are doing THAT with tiffany's jewelry then i say GO RIGHT AHEAD! like if you take the classic solitaire ring and add a couple diamonds on it or twist the metal or whatever...yeah thats fine!! but i just PERSONALLY do no think it is right to get a carbon copy made of ANYTHING!!

those designers worked hard for that, the marketers worked hard for the company -- thats just not right -- IN MY MIND!

DISCLAIMER lol: i really hope this doesnt turn into a drama fest! thats my opinions and i respect that you have yours and you are free to share them (and id love to hear them!) -- but as ive noticed in other threads, lets just PLEASE not turn to attacking each other! (insert corny song here lol)

i could see what you mean by a carbon copy of something like your ribbon ring because its a pretty unique style, but a simple solitaire tiffanys ring. thats just a basic simple ring that ANYONE could have thought up. i mean when i was little i thought of just a simple thin thin band with one diamond on it. just happened to be some company already invented it. man, if i could only patten everything i dream of. LMAO

i agree to an extent. like your ribbon ring, its a pretty unique design so if someone makes a flat out copy its noticeable and wrong. however, for such simple rings like the tiffanys solitaire honestly anyone could dream that one up! shoot, when i was little i did! i knew i liked thin thin bands with a solitaire, then growing up i realized someone already thought that up. LMAO. that particular style is so easy and simple, its just someone patteneed that sucker before i got to it! LMAO!!
